[WIP|BETA|SA] GTA: Underground - Mod Discussion

Hello, guys. I have a question. So I'm a bit new to this whole modding, and I have a very old PC, but I can play the game with moderately modded things in low settings just fine. I downloaded this today and I thought my PC wouldn't be able to handle it, but it turned out this was even smoother than my normal version with identical display settings. So does this mod come with smoother-gameplay mod? Is there anyway I can make my normal GTA SA run smoother just as SA UG?

Try those mods:

Hello there, I absolutly hate the draw distance for gta i was wondering if there was a compatible mod out there that would change the draw distance. I have tried a few but obviously the game crashed. Is there anyway to increase draw distance and are you planning to increase it in the future??

Thanks

Hmm thanks. I tried those but it's not what it really is. The Underground has these features enabled and still feel smooth. I wonder if this comes with certain mods that improve graphic performance.

Do I have to? Modding GTASA is really easy as everything is documented now. Well, not everything. There are people who know every little detail about GTASA in technical terms and still dont feel like sharing that stuff.

You can easily get started.

Is it so hard?

INST is used to place models defined in IDE:OBJ, IDE:TOBJ, or IDE:ANIM in the world.

GTA: Underground uses binary IPLs (<name>_stream<index>.ipl) which are dynamically loaded and unloaded to speed up loadtime and to improve game preformance.

Plus, GTA3.img is no longer used, instead other IMG files are used, which are sorted. Simply getting models and streaming them will be alot faster, as the time spent searching is minimized. This gives a small preformance boost neccesary to run the resource-intensive mod easier.

Not only that, but the SA map is pretty much untouched, and some TXD names are changed and split because of their size. Finding textures would be easier for the game engine aswell, so this might give a tiny preformance boost aswell.

1 last thing, parked cars are both handled by the SCM and by binary IPLs. This can also improve preformance and RAM usage I guess.

not only do i already know pretty much everything you just told me, it also doesn't help me at all. i'm also having trouble trying to figure out why you felt the need to encrypt the img files. all they really contain are models which were converted from other games so they are not yours and aren't worth encrypting the files for. don't mean to sound like a dick but i'm desperate and don't know how it use 3ds Max.

i'm using kam's scripts and it asks for a dff path which i assume has to be a folder containing the dff files, what am i meant to do?

how is traffic made to other maps?

do you drive along to create it,

or you code it?

He uses a pencil on a paper to draw roads. Then he scans in his magical scanner to get SA output.

Simple.

Actually MixSets by Junior does the job pretty well and include all of those + more. :)

So today I reconverted the trich area. It was the first Bullworth area I did, and it didn't have the original prelightning. Now it does, plus some missing stuff is there too.

Screenshots coming soon.
