Alright, patch 5 is being tested again.

 

I will focus my time into bug fixing fully. Random crashes, lots of new content, an entire new feeling to the game, so much more complete, thats ofcourse sounding like...

 

Snapshot 3.

Coming, this time, with a bug tracker which can hopefully be done. This way we will eleminate all possible bugs and Snapshot 3 will be well worth it.

Hi dkluin, I have a few questions that I hope you are willing to answer. :)

 

Can I still install SRT, HRT or Project Oblivion mods for San Andreas map alone?

Also, is there a way to install my own vehicle mods? I noticed the IMG files are encrypted so I cannot open vehicles.img to install my own vehicle mods.

I posted a way to add your own custom vehicles by adding new IMG files, therefore getting rid of the encryption. It's like 20-30 pages below so you have to search a bit.

 

I dont have the enex bug so I can't fix it. I can't replicate it on my end neither.

 

Why didnt anyone find the secret maps.

The radar on patch 5 seems to be misaligned with the player position pointer-thing. What exactly did removing generic.img break? I really would like to know, because I don't know if this stuff is in final release or it's just because the patch 5 generic.img is missing.

 

For instance, it says I'm in the middle of the park when I'm really on the road on the radar:

I have a year or two of experience adding new vehicles to SA and am familiar with the steps mentioned, however I don't think it will hurt the game too much if I change the vehicle IDE line to point to the new model in my IMG file? For example I am replacing the Hunter with the AH64D from Medal of Honor: Warfighter, so I named the new files mod_hunter.dff and mod_hunter.txd and add it to my own IMG file, then change the Hunter's IDE line as below. Will that affect the game too much?

425, mod_hunter, mod_hunter, heli, HUNTER, HUNTER, rustler,ignore, 10, 0, 0, -1, 0.64, 0.4, -1

As for installing vegetation mods or SA Texture mods or other global mods, can I assume all models in the "andreas" folder IMG files are default GTA:SA models? If that's the case, I can compile my own IMG file by extracting the models from a clean copy of the game based on the IDE files that you created for each city.

 

As a suggestion though dkluin, maybe you can pack the default SA vehicles in a separate IMG file "VEHICLES_SA.IMG" and list out the file names in a text file? That way modders can also compile their own IMG containing their own modded vehicles, and you can also keep the rest of the IMGs encrypted. :) Same for default SA vegetation so that it will be a little easier to install vegetation mods.

 

Just a suggestion though, no pressure. :) Good job on the mod, I really love it! :D

VC/LC Rhino left rear wheel is appearing in the middle rear part of the tank, I don't know if someone already told you. (I'm using Snapshot 2.1 patch 4). Great job by the way :D

It's really strange that saving just doesn't work for me, it only works when I load it for the first time but afterwards I can't get it to working. Random crashes everywhere, but has lessened. And then the car spawner just magically worked for me, it now spawns all VC and LC vehicles and not only SA ones like before. Waiting for your Patch 5/Snapshot 3 release, my friend! :happy::happy::happy:

I am going to upload it today hopefully. I personally set DEP on "turn on for essential windows programs only", be sure you set it like that. This way, it's disabled. So, did you set it like this?

 

One reason why you disable DEP:

 

-DEP will cause a game crash when ASM code gets executed for the remaining SCM patches (zone based weather is still controlled by pointers inside SCM), so the game would crash when entering a new city, and since the game uses a different timecyc.dat pointer for San Andreas it will also crash at the end of the loading bar because the SCM file is the last file loaded by the game.

-DEP will make sure that correctly written mods like fastman92's car spawner which can spawn all added vehicles work properly

Since I want to focus on Snapshot 3, does this mean patches will no longer be made? No, it doesn't. Atleast, for a while.

 

I am going to implement some changes aswell:

 

-Radar map will be reverted back to the original radar, but Mainland Liberty, Bullworth and Atlantis will be correctly aligned on the radar map. This will allow people to find these new area's much easier. I will ofcourse keep the new radar size.

-Cottonmouth levels are going to be reconverted (they are EXTREMELY high poly though, so they need to be split into many different parts)

-More Carcer City levels are going to be converted

-Dunsfold will get some buildings like hangars, some modified ground and it will soon become the airbase I had in mind

-Malibu Club will have dancing minigame + dancing peds

-I will further add more weapons as I progress. I will also have to fix up the Liberty City Ammu-Nations. These are also supposed to be done at some point.

 

Added content I want to do:

-More garages

-More weapons

-A few more interiors for Vice City enterable

-Lance Vance's safehouse interior converted and accessable

 

Bugs to be fixed:

-Bugged ambience sound while inside the Malibu Club

-Some enex bug when exiting the Little Haïti safehouse (I need testers...)

-Savegame pickup inside the Ocean Beach hotel is missing

-Some vehicles are causing issues related to handling

Just a quick thing, for some reason whenever I fail a mission (happened to me on Wrong Side of the Tracks, humerously) I end up being teleported next to the save-point of the LV abandoned airstrip underground followed by a game crash. Can't take a log right now but it happened repeatedly.

Also, there might be something wrong with the setup of train paths on the mission-only line in SA. During the wrong side of the tracks mission, the incoming train that spawns on the special tracks spawned on the same tracks as the train you have to chase, phasing through it. This is followed by a crash in the tunnel, probably some error in spawning the next incoming train on the bugged track-path thing.

Using screenshot 2.1, patch 4.

I also had repeated crashes caused by the vanilla vehicle radio for some reason, usually after saving, but again I forgot to take the log for that too.

@dkluin Yeah I set my DEP that way, I still get this savegame bug. I also hope you fix thay FPS-dropping thing in LC, also are you going to add more safehouses in LC and in the Vice City mainland? Good luck with doing snapshot 3 and hope you upload it today! :)

Radio script crashes are solved. Audio streams and alot of scripts shutdown when saving, and start again completely when save is done.

This means that if it crashes after the game saved, then it should also crash before the game saved.

This feature is also implemented in GTA United, because the radio plays from the beginning after a game save.

So maybe if I release the fifth patch, you could test it and see if the problem still exists there.

Note: actual game progress is still stored when loading the game. Things like variables for your aquired businesses should still work properly.

About the whole carrec path thing:
I did not modify the carrec.img and everything should work. Please send me your savefile, by the way. If you dont want others to have it, send it on PM.

More updates:

-Fixed the audio for the LC Lift Bridge

-LC lift bridge audio no longer plays loudly when far away, now it will play louder when closer to the bridge, and less loud when further away.

-More custom scripts using audio streams now work with the ambience sound value, so if you set the volume in the main menu to off, it will no longer play for audio streams (For example, the Malibu Club ambience sound would go off when you change the sound setting to off inside the main menu)

 

Things to fix:

-Malibu Club audio issues

-Cars glitch out on the LC lift bridge

-Cars don't stop when the bridge goes up

I hope the bugs from the mission nines and ak's (buying clothes bug) and the crash thtat seemed to stop me driving away from the Loco Low Co garage on the mission cesar vialpando have been fixed, if we can't play the story mode fully without bugs, whats the point in having it there?

yes im aware of that but i made two new savegames. one in stauton and one in portland. i loaded the stauton savegame while i was in the portland savegame and the game crashed. and no i didnt accidently load an old save because i deleted them. i also tried this three times and all three times it crashed.
