Why not release an alfa build once you get to the point where you could release something. That should help you find some bugs.

 

Edit: Is SA on it's original cords or is it moved tp center the map?

Currently it's at it's original coords.

I don't know if that would work though. Have to test it, so everyone can be sure whenever it'll work or not.

 

Anyways, I'm testing my LC conversion today. I'll start off with generics, 1 ipl at the time.

I don't know if it would be bigger than GTA V's map.

If LS is at the same size as SA, it'll be bigger for sure.

 

But, right now we only need some people to do certain parts of the mod, like LC, CC, VC, and other stuff.

Right now I'm the only one who really focusses on the map.

I didnt even export the map yet.

 

Working on some kind of easter egg that I will include in the mod.

It's a bit.... Barren and dead.

I can't give more info about it though.

I think, the most people now know what that easter egg is. Im not going to say here what, I am quite shure it is, beacause dont want tu ruin the easter egg, but i can do it in team chat.

Yes, and like I said, I´ll not tell anibody outside the team, what it is. The only thing, I think I can tell, is that it was some kind of misunderstanding and the easter egg is really awsome.

I'm here to tell you about Atlanta. I've lived in atlanta on and off my whole life. Thought I'd give you some pointers on the remake.

 

Atlanta should not be empire city, it is too reminiscent of new York because of the empire state building, and just the empire state. And Atlantis resembles Atlanta far too much. Dogwood city is what the city was once called, which can be either too closely related, or just enough. I recommend the Atlanta remake be called 'Capitus'. I live around the area, it is fitting.

Also, with growing up in Atlanta, you know certain landmarks.

 

The airport has to be huge, it's the busiest in the nation. Make sure planes take off right over the interstate.

 

Adding a Cola Factory (gta's parody of coke) is probably the most important aspect of capturing the city. Coke was invented in Atlanta and is still the city's crowning piece.

 

A baseball field is needed, copied from the Braves.

 

A section of the interstate near the Cowards Stadium (my GTA esqe suggestion for a braves parody) needs to be spaghetti junction, a part of the roads where all of the paths intertwine and overlap like spaghetti. Google that for a better image.

 

Near city center, the interstate goes under buildings on and off, much like the part of the main road in GTA V does near the eastern beach. PLEASE IT IS VITAL that you make those lights, in those tunnels a weird orange. It is a shockingly memorable part of the city, DO NOT leave that out, as small as it is.

 

A rich suburb, known in Atlanta as Dunwoody should be added (suggested name, AmsterGreen). This is to be put on the city's northern end. Make it similar to the last island in GTA III, but far more flat, and houses close together, winding suburbia.

 

My experience living in Atlanta can really be helpful, message me for anything else on Atlanta. Please very very very heavily consider all of my suggestions, I just worry Atlanta won't be recognizable.

Never said I was adding them.

Infact, I dont feel like adding tunnels when Ive just got some LC parts working along with VC and SA. The current state of the mod: pretty buggy. Ive fixed the major issues (water issues, texture bugs, coll issues)

Tbh Im fixing another collision issue. SA has dodgy colls when VC is enabled. Im fixing this issue and once I did, maybe then I can start on more LC stuff and possibly MLL.

Never got a response for XP on this particular question, what year is the game set in? Need to know for storyline writing.

The game is set in 2010. Storyline stuff would be done after I release beta 1.0.

You're definitely going to need to play off vice city as a city stuck in the 80's culture. make a notion of this in the storyline. Otherwise things won't add up

It may be easier to make the storyline take place in about 2000. You wouldn't have to implement new technology that complicates gameplay. It's a good year to play off the state of San Andreas and Liberty City as in the same universe, you'd still have to play off Vice City as a mini isolated culture spot, not an issue. Also, you wouldn't have to play off car models as being suspiciously behind the times. If you set it in 2010, it wouldn't be believable. Then again I don't know what you're doing to make it passable.

It's worth considering, I guess.

I'm gonna write up a really long thing, about basically everything I could suggest for this project. Take it or don't, it will be in this thread soon. I'm excited to help in any way possible.

 

I also help that my nagging about small features I'd like to see could possibly spawn a thread for suggestions, smaller features? A place for us to day dream about features we'd like to see.

 

This project is great. Makes it far more impressive that we are all minors, from what I've seen. I'm beyond impressed. Carry on.

CHARACTERS:

 

Before anything, I’d like to preface this with my full respect for this project. Kudos to the staff.

 

Having multiple characters would really narrow the focus of the game, which is definitely needed. It is absolutely massive. Here are my suggestions for the characters. I am aware the protagonists are already planned, but I am unaware of XP’s progress.

 

Nero, 16

Liberty City

The GTA series has never had a minor as a protagonist, for good reason. But, looking at our ages he could really be a relatable and focused character. A brief background:

Nero was recently orphaned. His father never returned from a bad drug deal with the Triads. He and his father got along well, but he grew up knowing of his father's substance abuse. He’d come home from a weekend at his grandmother’s house finding needles his father forgot to clean up. When his grandmother died, his father took it worse and started doing sketchy errands for drugs. Nero was 14 when his father was beaten by Triads for making a mistake that caused a gang member to be arrested. As problems arose at home, Nero found solace on the internet, nuzzled in his PC screen to avoid seeing his father in deteriorating shape. He got into some questionable material which lead him to try dangerous things, like homemade bombs and hotwiring cars. Never for any profit or to cause mischief, more so out of curiosity. His readings of anarchist instructional manuals and social darwinist theories online had started to give him a cold disconnect from the humans around him, but he always had his father, and was on no way a bad person.

School was only fun to Nero as a social playground. Not for his own participation, but for his viewing. He took sociology and psychology classes, but simply didn’t participate in classes he deemed not worth his time. This got him into trouble with his father often.

Nero's mother died during child birth, which can be a part of his lack of empathy and caring nature. He is a cold person all around, especially with his father’s death.

Nero’s father went out one night, without telling him. He was awake on the computer, in his room. Nero felt sick and stood up, awaiting his return. He planned on finally chewing out his father for his ways, he had always feared him but deemed this behavior unsafe. Hours passed. Then in the early morning hours, when he was supposed to be heading for school,a police cruiser pulled into his driveway. Two cops sat outside, obviously bothered by the news they had to deliver. Nero knew this meant he was going into the state’s care.

On a whim, he grabbed his bug out bag, which he had packed for just such an occasion, grabbed his PC’s hard drive, took the 500 dollar rainy day fund from under his bed, and slipped out of his trashy Portland home unnoticed. Nero figured he’d read enough on urban survival, and was smart enough to live solo that he would be just fine without anyone else. He didn’t really know where he was going, but it was all better than being a foster kid, trapped somewhere he didn’t want to be. He walked aimlessly, crying because he knew his father was gone. But as a social darwinist, he tried to reassure himself by saying his father deserved it.

Nero decides to try and fight the cancer that drugs are, by getting in on the trade himself. He starts to hang around triad turf, befriends some members that are regulars at a Chinese restaurant. He does minor grunt work for them, first as friends, then for some money. Nero will get to the point where he asks himself if he is working these jobs to get closer to the heart of the gang, to attack it and discover his Father’s deeds, or if he is doing it because he feels like a part of a family.

Nero stands about 5’11, average male height. He wears slim clothes, cargos or khakis. He wears dark jackets or hoodies. His hair is in an undercut style. He wears it in a top knot, or slicked back. A customization option would be great for this.

The rest of Nero’s tale can be written once it is approved, but I’d hate to write for a character that isn’t going to be approved. I have the story framed.

 

 

Okaga, 23

Los Santos

Okaga is from northern African descent, but was indoctrinated in american culture at about ten years old. I want him to have a slight accent.

Okaga grew up in a poor family all his life. Dollars were strained because of the seven siblings he had, and the low wages his parents worked. He is the oldest of the eight. Okaga joined the military at 22, when his parents would no longer support him. He didn’t last in such a great deal of order and rules, and was discharged within a year. He made it through basic training no problem, because of his great physical and mental fitness. Okaga is 6’2 and weighs about 210 pounds. He is very muscular.

In school Okaga did well until he found out that socializing is what he liked far more. He always flirted with girls and cracked jokes all day. Teachers either loved or hated him, but never was he a neutral student. His school was bad, drugs and violence from gangs spilled over into the campus halls. He never dabbled into the dangerous side of things, bit grew up smoking weed and doing dumb things to entertain those around him.

Okaga wears button up shirts and cut off shorts. He wears socks to his calves and low casual shoes. His hair is a bit grown and wild. He shaves clean.

Okaga needed money bad. So he stuck up a joint with an old friend of his from school. They split from the gas station with 2500 dollars, and he realized it was the easiest money he’d ever made. His friend was arrested for possession of drugs he bought with that money.

Okaga was being offered positions in gangs shortly thereafter, but he denied. Okaga is about making money on his own terms, and want to build a crew of his own to carry out those acts. Okaga is great for comic relief, and a success story.

 

Hutch, 49

Vice City

Hutch is a seldom speaking, mysterious fellow. He lives in a city engrossed in this giddy 80’s charm, but is wrapped in his own depression for the loss of his son in a house fire, years ago. Hutch started commiting crimes to get out anger, starting with arson (ironically). After he lost his son he became a purposeless monster.

Hutch grew up in a good home, but started doing strange things early on. He would dissect frogs and squirrels he caught. He once broke a dog’s neck for killing his cat, and wasn’t bothered by his cruelty. He did this up until middle school, where he made himself normal to fit in. He started playing volleyball on the beach with other kids his age. He got a girlfriend. He left his weird stuff behind easily.

Hutch got out of the air force and came back to Vice City at age 25. He spent the money on film school and started working on producing films in the prime of Vice City’s 80’s movie craze. He made great profit from his 10% cut of a shark movie horror flick, for screenplay. Hutch soon had a pretty wife whom he was attracted to (but only wanted him for his money, in the end), and a son on the way.

The mafia started harassing Hutch when his son was about 5, and himself 44. They made threats to him to try and get easy money, but Hutch never complied.

His wife died in a car wreck when his son was 6. He spent less time working with producing scripts and more time fathering his son, which was when he really realized that’s what he loved. Bonding with his son was his need favorite thing.

A year ago Hutch single handedly funded a film he thought would do well, he used easily 90% of his fortune. It flopped and he lost all of that money.

His son sat at home watching TV one night, and Hutch quickly left to go get take out food for them to eat that night. When he returned half an hour later, his house was in full blaze. It was an electrical fire, the police said.

Playing as Hutch let’s the player be a madman, but playing Hutch's story let’s the player see a madman heal. His journey is one of recovery and answers. He has to fill a void that his son left.

Hutch wears dark clothing. His hair is long and pulled back, he has a beard.

The player should be able to read Hutch’s journal entries to learn all of this information, along with his strange and entertaining sociopathic confessions. Hutch likes to sit off aside and commentate on the world around him, giving brutal analysis of how fake this pseudo giddy world is around him, a world he fit in with 20 years ago, but hasn’t moved with him since. He hates yuppies, although that’s all he was. He hates what he was. Deep down, Hutch just hates himself. I’d love to write a storyline for him, one where he fights his own psyche and delusions in search of some purpose. Of course there would be tons of unjust killing and violent fun between point A and B, but that’s grand theft auto.

 

 

 

 

I also have ideas for a Chinese girl named Ying, but would need to know what the consensus is on female protagonists. Would be a first.

 

If you’d like, I could provide some art for characters you show interest in, to delve more on appearance.

As a disclaimer, I know that storyline is far far far off, but XP wanted to see my ideas. I wanted feedback on a broader channel. Just tell me if I'm literate enough to help with storyline, basically. I'd also like some really particular feedback too, that would be great.

I'll move things like this onto the new thread you said you'd make for subjects like this. Until then, tell me if any of these characters are worth pursueing.

Thank you guys for reading my suggestions thus far, I haven't done anything to help with the technical side, but god do I want to help in any way possible.
