Ambient_ Posted February 22, 2015 Share Posted February 22, 2015 I'm sure most of you are aware of the cut GTA3 character, Darkel who had a series of undeveloped missions involving terrorism that were cut in light of 9/11. Is it possible that Darko could be a re adapted version of Darkel? Do we know enough about Darko to be able to make this link? The same goes for Darkel. How much time had Darkel spent in liberty city prior to his re-emergence at the end of IV? Had he presided in the state around 2001? I doubt R* would re-make a character that was dropped, and they have no similar personality. Darkel was a terrorist and Darko was a Bastard. Darkel was removed in GTA III because he and his missions didn't fit with the rest of the game, not 9/11. No and no, but from what we know it's really unlikely. Darkel was homeless, and probably a bomb-throwing anarchist. To be this he'd had to have been in the US for long enough to lose whatever benefits or provisions were set up for him, couldn't have just moved there to be homeless and rebel against society. They weren't quite so bad in 2001. Grand theft wiki says Darkel was removed because his missions kinda sucked, and the character didn't fit. Sounds like all of his stuff was re-tooled as rampage missions and payphone missions, and the not-fitting works because everyone else was in organized crime or heavy stuff like corrupt politics or bank-robbery. and here's what stoney was talking about, which gtw linked to as well: http://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/article/19861/grand-theft-auto-iii-your-questions-answered-part-one-claude-dar.html Rockstar says: Darkel was just a crazy bum who gave you some crazy missions. They were removed a few months before the game was done and long before 9/11 because they just weren’t as good as the rest of the game, and tonally they were a little odd. He started with 5 missions and they were slowly all cut. When only one or 2 were left, they were all removed as the character just didn’t work alongside the other characters.
