XBone: I Can't Take It Anymore. Empty Servers

I'm almost constantly getting full to half full lobbies on Ps4. The only time is get empty lobbies is when the cloud servers die or my internet shats itself.

You kids have it easy. Try explaining to BT in early 2001 that you need them to replace the Fujitsu line card in their exchange because it's incompatible with a Speedray DSL modem. Took me 3 minutes to google the problem and 7 weeks for them to actually do it

 

And that was to get from a 56K dial-up to a 512Kb DSL line, shared by 3 people.

 

I really don't miss dial up haha.

I'm a big GTA fan, have been ever since San Andreas. So, when GTAV came out for X360/PS3, I couldn't resist getting the collector's edition. Yesterday, I upgraded my 360 version of GTA to an XBone version. And lemme say this. I thought all the hate against the new-gen GTA due to the servers being horsesh*t were just haters that were hating.

 

This is (literally) my first 30 seconds ever into GTAO on my XBone.

 

Yep. Notice how there were 1 or 2 guys in that game? Those are the only guys I've ever seen in this game during freeroam. It takes me 10-15 minutes to get into a server then a job. I've seen plenty of people on races, but a minute to the race I get disconnected.

I have a direct ethernet cable from my XBone to my router. I get a steady open NAT 1.2Gigabytes per second down and about 750megabytes per second up. Yet still, I get disconnected.

 

Is there ANY solution for this..? There have been 15,000,000+ units of this game sold on XboxOne. Yet, I rarely see a soul. (Yes, I realize not everyone plays, some people return game, not everyone is on the same region, etc, etc, etc)

I enabled IPv4 MultiStreams on my router and that seemed to reduce the load times and empty servers. I still get logged into empty servers sometimes but not like before.

 

I also suggest not using "Instant On" on your xbox. That seems to help with connection errors when logging in.

Hey there, I "upgraded" to ps4 in January and all was fine for the firat couple of weeks playing. Then for some unknown reason everything messed up. I went from frequenct connection loss, to empty lobbies, to loading screens that lasted for 20mins, to finally loading up and just falling through the floor. I tried everything roxkstar suggested to me, i mean everything (nat types, portforwarding, sent them screen shots, started changing stuff on my console with safe mode and a load more things) nothing worked. In the end I sold my gtav on the ps4 and went back to ps3 gtav. Works (almost) perfectly. So the b******* about my connextion being the problem cant be true because a: it wouldnt have worked fine to begin with and b: ps3 version works perfectly.

 

... I miss 1st person though

I keep getting empty lobbies as well, but this usually works for me.

 

1. Go to Settings.

2. Go to Network, then Advanced Network Settings.

3. Select Alternate MAC Address, then hit Clear.

4. Your console will restart. Once it restarts, load up GTA Online and you should get into a populated lobby.

Xbox one live sucks donkey balls. Xbox one in general feels like a beta OS. Not impressed at all.

Everyone seems to think it's my NAT... My NAT is open. I stated that in the original post I believe.

Clearing the MAC address..? Is that really a good idea? That's how computers communicate and identify eachother, removing it could bring more problems than solutions...

 

Can anyone confirm anything about this before I attempt this?

I am really not sure overall what is causing connection issues in general; R*s net code surely does not help. Although PS4 still takes longer to load Public Sessions for me compared to PS3, I have the following:

 

- ISP provided Router

- Wireless with at times 10 other Devices in the House (not all mine) connected to the Router and using varying degrees of Bandwidth.

- Nat Type 2 (Moderate)

- 20 Mbps Down and 2 Mbps Up.

 

Although I still have issues, I am regularly in 20 - 30 Player Lobbies and can sit in them for 30 min - 1 hour or so (usually as long as I play in a Session) typically.

I had the PS4, and it was just the ugliest and most cluttered UI I've ever seen, and Dualshock is more annoying than cool (voice coming from controller, the flashing lights when you have cops, etc) . I feel like XBone and PS4 are pretty much the same in the general sense, but with Xbox One you can do more, and Microsoft has announced cross-gen multiplayer (check out World of Tanks Xbox One edition), and cross-platfom multiplayer (check out Windows 10 and the new Fable). I guess it is really up to where your friends are, but that's just my experience.

Now, I get into 25 people servers easily. Free aim too.

 

I don't know what it is with Xbox One.

If you are using instant on and not power saver it can mess with your NAT type, it's going to be fixed with the March update.

I've never seen my NAT be anything but open for me. Plus, I'm part of the preview program so if it wasn't fixed along with the screenshots feature then it'll be fixed soon.

There are no servers, some random guy with who knows what Internet service is hosting the games. Maybe even you.

 

Servers are for match making only.

 

As a last resort you can put your xb1 in the dmz section of your firewall.

You're telling me. I was around for the birth of the Internet in the home, crazy times. And not every joe on the street knew sh*t about them. You had to go to a guy that knew computers and networking. Hell even them days we had to type in HTTP. Most kids these days don't know what fun is
