My mistake, I read the first part and not the second. Honestly, I just assumed it was just going to be nothing important and I'm be lazy today ( late night again, snowplowing )

OP. What kind of modem do you have? A docsis 2.0 or 3.0?

Need to hard reset your Xbox every time you wanna play GTA Online.

That's the solution. Works every time. It's a problem with the Xbox cache system in stand-by. I'm here all day, folks. Enjoy.

/thread

Really? I guess it's a good thing I don't use instant on.

Yes, at least until Rockstar optimizes the issue or Microsoft provides an alternative method of clearing your system cache.

They don't need an alternative method. Are people really unwilling to wait an extra minute to power up their Xbone and sign-in? Can't be in that busy if you have time to play video games, I know i'm not.

Where'd all this stuff about unlinking from SC come from? Sauce? What is it supposed to accomplish?

^ Yeah, if it's Microsoft, reboot it before you use it. Rules to Live By. #slate

Total myth. Can't see how it would help with a connection issue.

Total myth my ass... I know alot of people who unlinked their social club and it actually fixed their game. Infact R* even tells people try this..

My One turned itself on and off all the f*cking time when set to 'energy saver'. So I set it to instant on, which uses less power ¯\(°_o)/¯

How doesn't instant on use less power? How did you test that?

OP the servers just suck a**. I've tried everything this thread has mention and it's a total craphoot whenever I join a game. It has gotten better since Dec. but it's still extremely inconsistent. In January I was able to join 10 lobbies in a row with 20+ people in them. The next day I was in solo lobbies all day. It's a tempermental little b*tch and it's not just xbox one. I have friends on PS4 with the exact same issues.

RedlineDrifts

Running a wired connection on X1, 60mbps down, have a router and have no problems getting into lobbies with 20+ people.

With an ammeter ;)

The Xbox isn't supposed to turn on all the time, but it was, day and night. I think my HDML switching amplifier confuses it. Or it's a faulty xbox.

People blame R* for the game not working, yet i've noticed a pattern here...
Xbox One: "Servers aren't working"
Ps4: "servers are usually half full or working"

Thats what i've noticed anyway, obviously there have been some exception to this. there always are to everything, so in my scientific conclusion i can say that you've bought the wrong console. XBox One was a bad choice, then again this was obvious from the consoles original reveal. i don't believe its R*'s fault as much as Microsofts. Maybe its some of R*'s fault, but not all the blame should go to them. Microsoft own the servers GTA is on, not R* themselves (correct me if i'm wrong though)

Therefore in my second scientific conclusion i can say that get a PS4 if you want to play a graphical upgrade from the old gen version to tie you over till the pc version comes out.

*Disclaimer* I'm not actually a scientist, however studying forensics at university so you're under no legal obligation to listen to me, however. This being said i am the emissary from the PC gaming gods so yeah, take that how ever you wish...

This issue has been problematic since the game's release on that console. Appalling that Microsoft and R* haven't been proactive to resolve it.

Smells like Windows Vista again at launch. 'We put it out, it's up to developers to make it work with US. If you system doesn't work, don't blame us.'

I could say something pissy about Microsoft's ambivalence towards gamers when they have other agendas but that'd be cliche.

I have both consoles. The empty lobby issue and timing out when connecting to friends lobbies is an issue on Xbox's end. As this doesn't occur for me on PS4.

If you're still having issues on either console, I would then narrow the issue down to your router or connection and go from there.

Rockstar tells people to do a lot of thing. All of them which have no effect whatsoever.

I usually get full(ish) lobbies on XB1, sometimes empty or with just a few players.

Interesting about the power down screwing with the NAT though. Mine is set to instant on and ports opened on the router, but if I quit GTAO by going to story mode then powering down, quite often when I return I have to force close the game due to errors connecting to Rockstar services.

Used to have this issue when my NAT was set to strict. I changed the NAT to open, and haven't had problems since.

What?

Funny.. When i finally stopped being a stubborn fool and opened my Nat S. Opened my ports and unlinked my social club account.. Everything worked fine. And i know at least 12 people who did the same thing and had the same result. Some just did the unlink social club and all of a sudden they can load into games with players.

Sure.. sometimes things still go wonky and you need to restart the game. But we all went from spending 90% of the time not playing the game... to 90% of the time actually playing it.

I think most people here lie. I have Xbox One and I haven't had a problem since c*ntsquad did what they did back on Christmas. I think I read somewhere on here GTAO only uses servers for our gamesave files. And the connection is PvP, or something like that? Anyways and all honestly no issues here on Xbox One.

Yeah but that means leaving the house.

I think it's picking up either HDMI switching or IR remote inputs and reacting to them. It sits there with the white X light flashing.

And where's my option to play music from a uPNP media server? I have a 1000-track GTA playlist, you bastards.

What it basically boils down to, platform lock-in is a bitch.

I believe when it's flashing when off, the Xbox One is cooling down.

Shoulda bought a PS4

Its no different over here.

Its much more different. I never get put into empty lobbies, never have everyone leave at once. Always in 20-25+ person lobbies minus a couple times being in a lobby with 15 people.

Yes it is, I'm constantly in 25+ player lobbies; your internet connection must be prehistoric.

Might be different for you, like it's different for me. OP is having an issue with his Xbox One, while I'm not. Line of Chop is having issues with his PS4, while your not. To me it's not a Sony/Microsoft issue/problem, it's a Rockstar issue/problem.

What would be considered "prehistoric" to you? Not trying to start something just want your opinion on it. If anything I think it might be the equipment.

It's alright man, I wouldn't have assumed you were starting anything. Well, I had a mate on PS3 who struggled to get into full servers, the few times he would manage to get in, his connection wouldn't be able to handle it and he would end up losing connection and get booted; the package he was on was just about better than dial up, with a download speed of 2-3mbps; that is something I would consider 'prehistoric'.

Yeah, the right router can make a difference; I switched up to Sky's latest model a few months back and my connection has skyrocketed since, while still being on the same package deal.

Step 1 - throw out your ISP's router.

Cheap pieces of sh*t with default credentials, sh*tty firmware update schedules and limited functionality. Mine go straight on eBay.

What about your modem? That remained the same? I had a docsis 2.0 modem ( about 4 years ago ) with 15Mbps and was getting around 2-3 Mbps. I made the Internet provider give me a modem that was only available for 101Mbps ( they sent a "tech" out 5 times, he did the normal stuff, checked the wires etc ) I said the next time he comes he better have a 3.0 modem for me, if he doesn't he can just leave. He had one and my connections went from 3Mbps to 25Mbps. The tech was "shocked" it went up that much. Seem like the right equipment gets the job done.

I don't know I have a Arris modem and a Sagemcom router from my ISP, both work flawlessly. I guess it's the company most people have?

Yeah, there's nothing per se wrong with ISP routers, I'm just old school (WRT54G <3) and I dislike trusting my ISP to not f*ck up and use default passwords etc.

Yeah I've had the same modem for the last two years, which was also an in house Sky model; I upgraded to fibre optic with a download speed of between 28-45mbps averaging at around 35mbps.Yeah, I've had my fair share of tech's coming out to my place; I was knocked offline for over a week at one point, took the morons about five trips to get things up and running again and all they had to do was replace the router due to the old one being fried.

You kids have it easy. Try explaining to BT in early 2001 that you need them to replace the Fujitsu line card in their exchange because it's incompatible with a Speedray DSL modem. Took me 3 minutes to google the problem and 7 weeks for them to actually do it :/

And that was to get from a 56K dial-up to a 512Kb DSL line, shared by 3 people.
