XBone: I Can't Take It Anymore. Empty Servers

I'm a big GTA fan, have been ever since San Andreas. So, when GTAV came out for X360/PS3, I couldn't resist getting the collector's edition. Yesterday, I upgraded my 360 version of GTA to an XBone version. And lemme say this. I thought all the hate against the new-gen GTA due to the servers being horsesh*t were just haters that were hating.

This is (literally) my first 30 seconds ever into GTAO on my XBone.

Yep. Notice how there were 1 or 2 guys in that game? Those are the only guys I've ever seen in this game during freeroam. It takes me 10-15 minutes to get into a server then a job. I've seen plenty of people on races, but a minute to the race I get disconnected.

I have a direct ethernet cable from my XBone to my router. I get a steady open NAT 1.2Gigabytes per second down and about 750megabytes per second up. Yet still, I get disconnected.

Is there ANY solution for this..? There have been 15,000,000+ units of this game sold on XboxOne. Yet, I rarely see a soul. (Yes, I realize not everyone plays, some people return game, not everyone is on the same region, etc, etc, etc)

I'm almost constantly getting full to half full lobbies on Ps4. The only time is get empty lobbies is when the cloud servers die or my internet shats itself.

Is your NAT strict? NAT is such a c*nt, why do we still use it..

It's full lobbies left right and centre on PS3.

Its thriving after the next gen release.

Xbox one live sucks donkey balls. Xbox one in general feels like a beta OS. Not impressed at all.

I get full lobbies but joining/inviting people is flaky as f*ck

If you are using instant on and not power saver it can mess with your NAT type, it's going to be fixed with the March update.

Pretty much, my NAT was open 24/7 on my 360 but is Moderate on the Xbox One. I am always connected via Ethernet too, it makes no sense.

No router? No open Nat? Don't have all the ports open?.. You won't be able to easily play this game online. That just how current gen GTA O works sadly.

If you have done all of that and its still borked.. Unlink your Social Club account for a day and play. That will re-sync you data.

Once all thats done.. Any issues can be fixed just restarting your game.

I used to spend 99% of my time loading.. getting into empy rooms.. getting errrors. Now i spend 99% of my time playing after i did what hat to be done.

IncredulousNoir

On XBone I inevitably get empty lobbies if I don't do a hard reset each time I play. If I do a hard reset I get full lobbies. Be sure to "quit" GTAV prior to the reset.

Are all your ports open too? If so un-link your social club account for a day and play. Then re-linking it the next day. You won't lose anything.

My problem was all my ports where closed even tho my nat was open. Once i did that... Im always in packed lobbies. game runs next to perfect most of the time.

Last night was the first time in a while I was seeing sessions with only a handful of people on the Xbone. Been getting into sessions with 20 to 30 players (yes that's right, I been getting 30 player sessions) the past while.

I am with you 100% mate , I just can't believe that whoever is responsible is not working their bollocks off to try to put the numerous problems right , both Xbox and rockstar seem to be unconcerned for their respective reputations are being damaged , trying to play this game can be frustrating enough at times but what I find the most annoying is that despite obvious problems nobody is trying to reassure people who have invested in a very expensive piece of gaming technology that these issues are being addressed ,

I must say though the number of players in lobbys does seem be be gradually improving but joining deathmatches , races, anything really is still a lottery , one with a very poor win rate ,

I'm not very tech minded if anyone knows for sure who's door these problems lie at (Xbox or rockstar) I'd love to know

On ps3 and ps4 I can have filled lobbies every day.

Me too. Can't get rid of the bastards on ps4. I doubt the Xbox one has sold 15million copy's. The traffic on this forum is 10-1 ps4-xbox one. I'd expect sales to be similar, that said there's surely still enough Xbox players to get a full lobby.

I had similar issues when I first started. Then as someone said above I switched from Instant On to Power saver and it seemed to fixed the issue. I rarely get Connection Errors, disconnects due to "Time Outs" and I am getting dropped into lobbies with lots of other players now.

I would recommend doing that, assuming you did the obviously like fix your NAT.

Interesting , this I must try , how do I unlink my account , on Xbox or on social club web page

Most likely a bit of both with each individuals internet connection thrown in.

Believe it or not ( no clue if this applies to you ) I was using wireless connection for my Xbox One, always in empty lobbies. Ran a wire to my Xbox One, always more than 10 people and they fill up fast. No clue if you're running wireless. If you are try a wired connection? A few of my Xbox Live buddies were having the same issues, I told them what I did. They did the same and now no issues. No clue if GTAO hates wireless while other games don't care, or if it was a coincidence?

To be honest... So many people simply don't bother using a router... Open their nats and open their ports.

Which means constant errors.. load screens and empty lobbies. For everyone.

Need to hard reset your Xbox every time you wanna play GTA Online.

That's the solution. Works every time. It's a problem with the Xbox cache system in stand-by. I'm here all day, folks. Enjoy.

Where'd all this stuff about unlinking from SC come from? Sauce? What is it supposed to accomplish?

^ Yeah, if it's Microsoft, reboot it before you use it. Rules to Live By. #slate

Evidence that supports my solution. Stand-by mode has cache problems.

Total myth. Can't see how it would help with a connection issue.
