parallaxscroll
Probably the best bet will be AMD's card codenamed 'Bermuda' (Radeon R9 395X2) which will have dual Fiji XT GPUs. Even without knowing final specs or benchmarks I don't see how Bermuda would have a problem with 4K @ 60FPS w/ Ultra settings in GTA V. FugetSudo
wow! OP planted a crazy-seed here This is what you do: save your $$ and only build a system at recommended specs but with heavy upgrade-potential. After the game releases and is patched a few times research what folks are using to achieve 4k @60 frames.... do the same. What your post should really be about is what PC to build for 3 monitor support I think that would be cooler than 4k
Totallycasual
So many AMD fanboys in this thread either pushing inferior current gen cards or predicting the "future" insisting that the 300 series will smash everything, OP either go with x980's now or wait to see what the new 300 series has to offer from AMD and what Nvidia's response will be. Nvidia dominates the market and they aren't going to just sit on their ass and do nothing. utack
Go for Nvidia, AMD cards can have major issues with some games and their updates take longer. And we're at it again To stay on topic: I don't see the CPU requirements growing that much when going from 1080p to 4K. Not 100% certain on how much load the whole graphics driver/api adds to the CPU, but probablly there is not much difference in it when changing the resolution? My guess would be the i5-2500 can still do the job well Edited February 22, 2015 by utack
Eurotrash
Stop comparing GTA V to Crysis 3. Stop comparing RAGE to CryEngine. Stop comparing open world games with corridor shooters. For the love of God. Why?
Cleverley1986
This is incredible. I only suggested a 390x because they are due to be announced on the 1st March. How much of an idiot would OP be to buy 2 x 980's this week??? Look OP do what you must but if I had $6K and wanted 4K right on day of release then it pays to wait until release day to see what you can get for your money. The only question is...how long are you prepared to wait to get what you want? If the answer is right now today then yes 980's. If you can wait til this weekend for the announcement...perhaps 390x's. If by the end of the year...a 395x2 or whatever Nvidia have as a competitor. Make no mistake though, 980's and 295x2's benchmarks running 4K at ultra do NOT give solid 60FPS for any game. Reformed Squid
Don't listen to the people suggesting 3 GTX 980s, that's completely overkill. You'll most likely be able to hit 60 FPS with two r9 290s in crossfire. This would be the cheapest option at about $550-600 for the two GPUs. ^Nevermind, this would probably not give you 60fps at 4k after looking at benchmarks for other games. Probably 40-50fps. It would be wise to wait for the 390x, which will be coming out soon, and crossfire that. As for the processor, a 4690k will probably suffice, but a 4790k wouldn't hurt either. Alpha Demigod
This thread pretty much oozes "PC Masterrace" I didn't understand a word that was being said. Get this clock speed or this VRAM or this series or that series. But still, it's good to know modern gaming is such that the more $$$ you put in the better graphics you can get. I play my games with 1080p, textures and such settings are usually set to ULTRA but stuff like FXAA, SSAO, and all that jazz is turned off. Don't know what the f*ck it is. pinky
Why the f*ck do you need it to run at 4K ? Just because the game supports it ? Just run it at 1080p or 1440p with 8xMSAA or 4xTXAA. Problem solved. Don't go for 4K. You won't notice jagged lines unless you're looking for them. ^This. You only need 4K if you have an 80" tv right in front of your face. I tossed up between a superwide 3440 x 1440 and a 4k 10:9, had 5940 x 1080 surround at the time. I would recommend ditching the 4k for a 1440p superwide instead, better FOV, better performance. It was playing V on my PS3 that swung the decision BTW, I thought to myself that 4K would just be the same sh*tty FOV as the PS3 version but sharper. No thanks.
