Personally, I'm fine with low level players having access to guns like the Special Carbine, the Bullup Rifle, the Marksman Rifle, and so on. They don't have the skill of those that have been playing much longer than them, and they haven't maxed out the health stat or any of the other stats for that matter yet, so this isn't an issue. There should be a rank lock for the Proximity Mines and the Homing Launcher, though.

 

To me, it doesn't make much sense that you need to reach rank 19 to unlock sticky bombs and rank 100 to unlock the regular RPG, if you have access to similar weapons with the same purpose from the very beginning on. Sure, the same could be said about the other DLC weapons. However, someone that just started playing GTAO wouldn't stand a chance in free roam if pistols were all they could own in the beginning- especially given that matchmaking doesn't work as intended. For this reason, I believe it's good for balance.

I wish they'd get rid of the level caps on the other lower weapons like the Carbine Rifle and SMGs, they're sadly nothing compared to the OP DLC weapons yet they're the ones that are level locked? How ironic...

I wasn't disrespecting it (Its my favourite gun in the game), I'm just disappointed how its basically a level-locked rifle thats weaker than the non locked ones...

One of the dumbest things in GTA is stuff thats rank or win locked. Guns...being level locked. Why? Who cares? Why punish the new players? At this point I use the weaker weapons just because its more enjoyable anyways. The newbies neeed the OP weapons more then the high levels.

 

 

Car up grades being win locked. Why? So people can go beg their friends or other players to 'let them win'...

Yes car upgrades were the worst idea and God know why rockstar didn't let the wins carry. They let the stats do.

The one and only reason why I like the fact that the low levels have access to good weapons nowadays is because, when I join a contact mission with randoms they can handle their own for the most part. I mean, they'll still die faster since they don't have as high of health as me or any other high level but they can at least get several kills before the npc kills them. That is, if they aren't a complete moron and know to take cover instead of running in and gunning like Rambo.

 

Why I also hate it is because you don't have to work as hard to get a decent gun now like what we had to when GTAO was first released on last gen.

There is no reason vehicle upgrades are locked to a character. My one stumbling block to doing anything serious with a second character is I'm not looking forward to endless levels of grinding to personalize vehicles the same way on both characters. As is I think the secondary characters sole use is making money for both, and I doubt I'll have any vehicle collection there.

I got my ass kicked by high levels back in the days. Until it was time for me to kick some butt. I had a bounty on me and some noob came after me on a motorcycle. Like in no cover motorcycle. Not that he bothered to take cover. So I pulled over, took cover behind my car. I let him spray bullets for a while and took him out. I looked on the map where noobshoot respawned and sniped him. It took some spawnkills until he got the message to leave me alone.

 

The homing missile balances the jetgriefers. I worked my ass off to get the minigun for survivals. After that you could target lock on the door gunners. So that got easier. The prox mines are lame. Just mine the entrances to the central LSC and the kills roll in.

 

After level 120 there are no incentives anymore. Some items should remain level locked, others can be free from day 1.

Someone fresh out of the tutorial genuinely needs a hand at this point. A noob with Lamar's pistol stands no chance against a high-level griefer.

The guns are not free tho.. They still have to buy it. Being broke is bad enough for the low levels. Also the fact that they have less health does not help any.

 

The real mess of GTA is the high levels all carrying enough ammo to fight a small war.. Which is why most free roam battles turn into Mini guns... Stickys and RPGs being used constantly.

 

The game is more fun when everyone is one is on equal footing and NOT using the most OP weapons or relying on auto aim.. But the fact is the game is just that. High levels picking on low levels.. using the most OP weapons with AA.

Because I mostly play co-op, I'm ok with new players having access to these more powerful DLC weapons.

 

Back in the day, I would drop sniper rifles and AKs for low level teammates. I haven't had to do that in ages.

 

It doesn't bother me in Freeroam or PvP game modes either. Skill, player health, and experience (tactical, knowledge of the map, etc) ALL trump whatever weapon your opponent is using. Except for the homing launcher... I wished and wished and wished for a ground to air launcher, now I'm in the "f*ck the homing launcher" camp.

My reply was to the other guy. Who claims the game is less fun when everything is given to you on a silver platter and noobs get OP weapons.

I was clearly pointing out the true end game here. As in most players use the most OP weapons all the time at higher levels and the majority of players use Auto Aim. Which is pretty much the Silver Platter in this case because its the easiest way of playing.

If you have to call new characters OP because they have access to some of the weapons you can use yourself, the weapons are not your problem. While I agree that it makes little sense to have the Homing Launcher available from level 1 and at the same time only unlock the objectively less powerful RPG launcher at level 100, it makes even less sense to acknowledge no middle ground between "easy gank-target" and "OP".

Regardless of who you were "replying to" I was stil addressing what you said for what it was lol.

 

You said that "not relying on auto aim" makes it the game for fun. Now, while I might agree that that may be true in some cases, that's still just an opinion, and one that doesn't even reflect the majority at that lol. Just pointing that out.

 

And infact, mentioning the aim preference in reference to "a level playing field" almost defeats the point it seemed like you were trying to make. If the idea to to have everyone on level terms, it doesn't matter wether it's free aim or auto aim. As long as it's THE SAME AIM, no one is at a disadvantage. Free aim players are not being subject to play against auto aim players in the same lobbies.

Well, that my friend is why you actually play the game. You know, do real races. Noobs have access to a full arsenal of awesome weapons right from the start.

Well, that my friend is why you actually play the game. You know, do real races. Noobs have access to a full arsenal of awesome weapons right from the start.

 

 

Mach.. As you are someone who races constantly with a race crew Being forced to use under modded cars because its locked behind Wins is annoying to deal with. Especially against good racers.

 

You are basically forced to race with randoms with catch up and slip stream On...and pray for a last second win. Which can be fun.. if thats your choice. But being forced to win to buy upgrades is not fun for most people.

 

BTW... We used to race together all the time back in the old gen days. :O

Really? Awesome man. It feels like forever ago. I miss the old days.

 

Anyways, as far as races go, I just host my own and set it to non contact/stock cars. Only took a few days to unlock everything on my lvl 25 character racing with randoms.

It surely is fun to me. Just last night I stole a level 3's Zion that Simeon gave to him and used it to run him over like 10+ times.

I'm going to burst your bubble, there has been DLC that is level locked. But I understand why you can't think of it. Your blinded by cash cards.

 

And yes, I support Cash Cards. I have yet to buy any, but if you want to, that's your decision. And since they truly don't give a huge advantage over me, buy as many as you want. I'll keep enjoying this game, and it's free DLC, regardless if you buy them or not.

Otherwise there won't be things to grind for. On the PS3 I have the idea that I have beaten the game.

 

Gameplay on PS4 is more challenging. With an survival it is not gueranteed that the group makes it to the end.
