I have discovered the real Grotti Cheetah

I always thought this car was an Enzo rip off with terrible styling options, like the side intakes pointing forward not back and generally opposite of the beautiful Ferrari Enzo.

 

I looked up the GTA Wikia and it says the Cheetah is based on the Ferrari Enzo.

 

However, I have discovered the REAL inspiration for this n-game car (which explains all the styling,

 

Lord behold, I present to you, the real mother of the Cheetah, the Shayton Equilibrium:

 

 

I have searched and could not find any similar topics about this so I just thought I would share it with you guys.

 

Also, I made the discovery when I was trying to recreate the white cadillac from the film Equilibrium and googled 'equilibrium car'.

The name 'Cheetah' has been in many previous GTA's and it has USUALLY been based on Ferraris (as have most Grotti's) but this concept was developed in 2011, the game coming out late 2013

Rockstar doesnt want to risk getting sued over infringement of copyright so they SLIGHTLY alter their copy-cars to make the resemble the cars a little less.

 

Original cars are developed as a whole to look good, but if you take parts of one good looking car and mix them with parts of another good looking car, you can end up with a not so good looking car (like the dukes fat lips compared to the legendary dodge charger grille, or the sexy Viper sides and back on the banshee with that plump skinny front loosing the wide curves).

 

Also the Entity koeniggsegg styling doesnt suit the engine cover of a porsche careera GT

I do prefer the styling of the older GTA's when it comes to cars. They should really made a GTAV expansion in an 70's and 80's era. But so much modelling would probably only make it into the next GTA (if they decidde to make it old style.

It's like GTA but it goes through many decades. Imagine playing a GTA game running throughout the last century or even more, spanning from Red Dead times to WWI stealing army s**t and 1930's all the way through to modern times. If they could develope this as a few separate games but put them together, I would happily pay £100 for this, GTU (Grand Theft Unlimited)

Like all cars in GTA, it's a mishmash of various bits pasted on. I see some of Glickenhaus' ridiculous...thing in it, like you say mostly the canopy. I've never heard of a Shabat Equilibrium, is it one of those overnight concept render outfits that a Kazakhstani oil baron dreamt up for his son to run? At least the P4/5 is an official Ferrari, ish.

 

The Cheetah is embarassingly ugly, for a 'Grotti'. Hence the P4/5 link

it's strange, because personally i hate the cheetah. but i'm loving the RL version OP posted. i know R* doesn't want to be sued for things etc. but the aston martons in game looks close to the RL versions, but this thing is just far off... the roof is way too high imo and should be extended to the back and of the car, nor suddenly stop like it's a fighterjet cockpit

Don't you know how Rockstar designs cars? It's a mix between multiple cars, including the Enzo and the Equilibrium.

It's a mix of a few different cars, doesnt really matter to me. ( haha Bohemian Rhapsody just came on the radio as I'm posting this ) I still love the Cheetah. While all the cool kids were driving Adders, I was in my Cheetah.
