Xbox 360 and Xbox One meetup

Hello. I was just wondering if it's possible for me to meet up my friend in GTA V? I have an xbox 360 and my friend has a Xbox One, does that make a difference? Or do I need to get an Xbox One to be able to play together? I'm new at playing video games so I'm not really sure how these things work. Please advise, thanks

Unfortunately the two systems are not compatible... The Xbox one edition has a ton of new features the 360 could not handle.. so in order to play with your friend you would need an Xbox One or he would need an Xbox 360
