Nameless Foot Soldier
Have you ever found an odd coincidence within your life? A pattern perhaps throughout your life? Maybe a cycle of similar events or keyword/numbers that pop up many times during days where you feel a certain way. Maybe you always glance at the clock at a certain time every night for a week. Perhaps you think of a question and within a short passage of time you encounter an answer. I know when I was younger and I encountered a word/event/person I had never of heard before but after I learned it, the topic would come up again shortly after again and again for a while even though it was never brought up in my entire life before. I feel sometimes I might be within the Matrix and someone uploaded a new file of information that everyone now has. This information was absent all the way up until then, then all of a sudden, it was there as if it was always there. I have dealt with heartache in a similar fashion with similar events unfolding in way I've dealt with before. Tell me fellow forumies, what odd coincidences or patterns have you experienced? mr quick
My dear father Alan was born on April 16th 1947, which is the day the house we live in was finished, and the first owners of the house moved into it. This is an amazing coincidence as this is in Norway, and my father was born in England and lived there for more than 30 years until he met mom). Apr. 16th 1947 was also the day Rudolf Höss was executed in Auschwitz. Nameless Foot Soldier

Other than that, nothing Frequency illusion, dudes. A really cool phenomenon! I've got a few: Most of the people in my close family's names start with the letter A. My grandpa (Alfredo), grandma (Amélia), dad (Álvaro), mom (Ana), my late grandfather (António) and me (Afonso). This means my granddad, grandma, dad and I share the same initials (A.S.). Another one is that a lot of people close to me were born on the 24th of some month. Me (June), my aunt (October) and around three other friends. Coincidentally, the 24th of June is also St. John's Day, and St John's night (starting on the night of the 23rd) is one of the biggest celebrations in Portugal, as well as a regional holiday. To top it off, the Battle of São Mamede (the seminal event for the foundation of the Kingdom of Portugal), in which D. Afonso Henriques (my namesake, founder and first king of Portugal) defeated forces led by his mother, was fought on the 24th of June, 1128, exactly 869 years before I was born. Crazyeighties
This one is wild my boss at work grew up best friends with a guy, that had kids that I grew up going to school and being best friends with. We did not realize we were all connected for years afterwards though it just seems weird that my boss went to school with the parent of one of my best friends. What makes it even stranger is the my friend and his dad both have the rare genetic condition that I have that causes cancer. Nameless Foot Soldier
Well, the weird thing about my frequency illusions. Is that the subject was brought up so soon after I had learned it or heard it. One time I just read a word I didn't understand and latter that night my Mom had used the same word. The one of my friends at school and finally I caught a documentary about it by chance on the 3rd day. Then it all stopped, but the knowledge remained. GN 92
Here's my story.. You people may not believe me, but it's true. I got the little paper to prove it. Back in 2013, me and my friends were planning to go to the beach on the Carnaval holidays, it would cost us R$ 480 for each person, we were 6. A few nights before, I started to calculate that, while trying to sleep.. The number: R$ 2880 (6 people * R$ 480). Ok, nothing weird there, but the next day, I was registering some receipts, and all of a sudden, the number. R$ 2880. Again. I laughed, told my uncle about that, and told him I was gonna bet that (numbers game, it's illegal here but everybody bets). So I placed my bet, R$ 5. If hit the number, I get R$ 15000 (US$ 5000).. And what happened? 2881. No money for me. After that day, I realized that there really is some kind of unknown force in the universe, or whatever you want to call it. Flesh-n-Bone
I don't know how to explain it while making sense but I'll try. Sometimes, I think of something random in my head but get distracted and when I try to return to the original thought, I don't quite remember what it was. Hours later, I stumble upon something that connects to the original thought in some way but I still can't figure out what it really is. Just confusing as f*ck and it's happened to me so many times I've lost count. Nameless Foot Soldier

For example, if I'm thinking about something as I enter a room and set a book down and that little thought escapes me, I just rewind: pick the book back up, walk back out of the room and then do it all again. Chances are you'll stumble upon something in that mechanical process that will trigger the original thought again. I find it very useful, although I've never been able to fully explain why it works (at least for me it does). a20characterusername
Algonquin Assassin
I have an aunty and uncle who are both married to each other where my birthday is one day after my uncle's and my brother's is one day after my aunt's. Not that exciting, but still.. Anyway you know when you meet someone somehow and you just happen to bump into them again? That happen to me once. It was about 7 years ago I was on a bus and talking to an older gentleman. About a year later I was riding a bus again and what happened? He was on it.. I come from a small town so it's not uncommon to bump into people you know, but this gentleman was a traveller passing through. It creeped me out how out of all the buses he could've been on it just happened to be that one. GN 92, Zook and Nameless Foot Soldier

9i OTD
When I was 9 or 10, my little brother's friend had just been 'cured' of leukemia after a 9 month battle. About a month later I learned that the cancer had come back in a far more aggressive form when I overheard two parents at my primary school discussing it. I foolishly thought about how it wasn't a huge deal and how he should be able to recover again. So the first creepy thing was wherever I went, I would here some stranger discussing it. That went for about a week when I overheard the same parents at school discuss (very quietly of course) how he was seriously lacking red blood cells and that he wasn't going to make it. From that point on, people I saw were discussing how he was probably dying (it was really big news in my town because of the age and type of leukemia). Then about two weeks after that, on December 2nd 2009, he passed away. TL;DR: As soon as I heard about what was happening to the boy, EVERYONE knew what was happening, and whtwhat they discussed foreshadowed what happened to him. I think it is caused by hearing/seeing/generally acknowledging something, then being familiar when it happens again, whereas before you didn't acknowledge it and therefore didn't notice it. Also @Miamivicecity, what town are you from? Edited February 21, 2015 by Hocko1999_fgc Nameless Foot Soldier
t3h PeNgU1N oF d00m
A while back, I had a strange dream where I was being chased in a park by a murderer. My grandma who I live with happened to have the same dream the same night. We both described it taking place in what appeared to be Central Park, and described a guy in red flannel chasing me. The only difference seems to be that my version took place from my POV, and her dream took place from her POV as he chased me. AnotherDave
Hocko, what you described is a classic example of frequency illusion, which Black_MiD mentioned earlier. Another similar cognitive effect is confirmation bias. The former is where something you newly learn or notice seems to appear more often, and the latter is where you seek out things that will confirm your pre-existing ideas while ignoring what doesn't. This can happen either consciously or subconsciously. For me, the number 24 has been very common. I was born on the 24th, grew up in a house numbered 24, the first two digits of my first bank account number were 2 and 4, as were the first two digits on a combination lock at the second house I lived in (all four digits also matched the first four digits of my bank account number), as well as several other things. There was also a spell a couple of years ago where the time would be 12:34* more often than not when I checked a clock. In reality it was clearly something that started with a coincidence and was then followed by some confirmation bias and perhaps helped a little by my internal body clock causing me to be more likely to check a clock at around that time. Edit *12:34 even has 2 and 4 in, and they're the 2nd and 4th numbers in the sequence! I'm joking of course, but that just shows how easy it is to find these patterns if you look for them. Just confusing as f*ck and it's happened to me so many times I've lost count. It´s just association. This is really common and more related to how your brain stores data than a real coincidence. It can be thought, event, memory, even a single word that You lose, and it pops later back from other way. Unimportant data is not stored in deep memory and if You get distracted it´s very likely to lose a thought.

AnotherDave
As you know what time you need to get up your body is able to wake you up at that time. When I was a kid my mum told me that she used to tap her head on the pillow the same amount of times as when she needed to wake up; 7 times for 7am etc. This was her way of making sure her brain knew what time she needed to be up, but it works without any extra effort for some people. I regularly wake up before my alarm if there's something important to do that day. Nameless Foot Soldier

JON22
2012 May I got 2 cleaning jobs in that month. That same month I found £45 outside a busy shopping centre. 2 years later still got both cleaning jobs. And in May 2014 I found £60 down the road from the last place I found some money lol. Then maybe the next month I found 20. Wish I had that luck everyday. My pay is literally sh*t. P.S I found the 20 outside a funeral place lol.
