MisterEd
I see that GTA IV and GTA EFLC are not supposed to work with Steam Family Sharing. [update: 07/07/2014] List of unsupported games by SFShttp://steamcommunity.com/groups/familysharing/discussions/0/792923683796413789/ I assume that Steam Family Sharing allows you to install the game on more than one computer but it can only be logged online with one computer at a time. Would that be useful if GTA V is supported by Steam Family Sharing? I have a 2nd computer that I allow family and friends to use when they come by. For me it would be nice if I could also allow this computer to also run GTA V. Right now I have a retail copy of GTA IV and GTA EFLC on my main computer and a steam copy if GTA IV and GTA EFLC on my 2nd computer. BTW, right now I have 2 copies of GTA V retail DVD preorderd. If I knew that Steam Family Sharing would work I could forget the preorder and get 1 copy of GTA V from steam and share it on the second computer. Of course I realize I would have to pay a $5 penaly if I do not pick up the preorder. Edited February 20, 2015 by MisterEd
Xerukal
I don't think so. As far as I know, games with DRM other than Steam are never compatible with Family Sharing. Not sure if Max Payne 3 is supported, however. If it is, then there's a good chance V will be too.
Dock
(Family sharing allows you to share your library with up to 5 people, but only person can play at a time. The original owner can jump in any time which causes the other people to receive a message to purchase the game or quit within 5 minutes or so.) No, I'm almost certain GTA V is NOT going to support family sharing. This is because it requires Social Club, a DRM, and as such it will require a serial key (which Steam will provide to you upon purchase, just like IV, EFLC, recent Ubisoft titles, etc.), so no dice. I have family share enabled on my account with a friend who occasionally plays on PC, and he doesn't have access to games like these with DRMs. So keep your pre order if you plan on having GTA V on both PCs. Fubarbrickdust
I might be mis-understanding how you intend it to work...but if you don't intend to have both the installs of the game 'online' at the same time - I see no reason why you can't install the game on your 2nd computer using the same Steam/RSSC Account... I did the exact same thing for my girlfriend's PC and my (digital) copy of Arma 3 (which also doesn't support family sharing) using my Steam account - it was a test to see if her rig could handle A3 well enough before buying it (sadly it doesn't quite cut the mustard). The reasons are different but the process would be identical...and I can freely play Arma 3 (SP & MP) on either machine using my Steam account if I choose, as long as they're not logged on and running at the same time (which is the same restriction as family sharing). Hope that info might be helpful... As far as 3rd party DRM (Social Club) is concerned, I can only assume the same principal applies - Any given machine. Correct online account credentials. NOT at the same time...should be gravy If anyone flat out knows i'm wrong with regard to the 'Social Club' DRM methods - please chime in, I'd hate to be giving MisterEd dodgy intel Edited February 20, 2015 by Fubarbrickdust
