To be honest OP, the majority of our society gains a sense of belonging when they are around others who like the same thing, the next step in human relations is to attempt to expand in shared beliefs and experiences. It is the basis for how we decide who we want to be and who we want to be with, it is most definitely not exclusive to these forums or gamers, it is human nature. Look at every commercial in tv, they target a group, not an individual

There is so much wrong with this post, and i have so little concentration left. can someone with a fresh brain take this one?

Deriving an absolute statement about human nature from who is targeted in tv commercials... maybe this really is subversive on a whole different level, or it is just plain diarrhea of the mind. While i'd love to believe it's the first, all of what's left of my common sense tells me it's the later.

Not sure how that is subversive, but the mention of the tv commercials was directed at the thought that we all share common interests in life, people who advertise on tv know this and take advantage of it by targeting groups that have the same interest. This does not make people less of an individual, just evidence that even as individuals we share common beliefs.

i think you confuse beliefs with conditioning. Our common cultural background might make us recipient to some of the same triggers if we do not care about it, but the moment you understand this you are free to change it. but i doubt you'd want that, as it seems you feel quite at home in the common identity you describe. in that case, enjoy it, i'll be the last to try convince you otherwise.

Maybe you have not come to the realization that your beliefs are in place because of conditioning. Every experience in you life molds who you are. Every encounter, relationship, and everything else that happens in you life is a force that conditions your belief structure. No one is born with a set of beliefs, they are a result of conditioning over time. Either way - that is way off base considering what I was talking about. Human nature is way beyond beliefs or conditioning.

You're right TVeye I don't care. Just wanted to know if people did their own thing.

I also never claimed to do anything noteworthy. Just wanted to know one simple thing.

Maybe I shoulda stuck with my last topic. Hearse appreciation.

But I got a hot topic. Goodie gum drops for me!

Well, to answer your original question then, yes, I would say I do my own thing by just playing. I spend a lot of time exploring the map and driving vehicles I like the feel of. Case in point, yesterday, I joined a public lobby and just cruised around in my Liberator for an hour.

If that's the case, creating the topic was fine, but the language you used was excessively haughty, especially when you've nothing really to show for it.

Anyone can get a hot topic by writing incendiary things like "starting a KKK roleplay crew." My suggestion is to just consider what responses you are actually interested in receiving and tailor your writing so they are more likely to come.

Would you care to elaborate on the haughty nature of my OP?

I only ask this because I've been told some things at work about my people skills

I thought I said I observed some behavior and I'm old(get off my lawn kid)

Then I asked what you do.

What was haughty bout that?

Really the clan?

So I'm older than most GTAO/GTAF player/members Id think. So I've a differnt attitude about many things.

Like the way I dress, deal w/co-workers(now employees). How I raised my kids, etc and so on.

But after hanging around this forum for six years or so I've noticed quite the herd mentality.

Wether it be cars(gotta have a super), apartment/house selections, how you deal with freeroam, blah blah.

But are there any individuals left? You goddamn kids think for yourselves?

Please, tell me. Do you roll with the herd or do you do what you like in a very lassie faire environment?

This doesn't make sense or maybe I missed the whole point. Using your reference to supercars, well I see topics for every car category and also topics for individual cars as well. How much more uniqueness are you asking for? If there was a huge "herd mentalitiy', wouldn't we just have a few topics with limited discussion? Instead I'm seeing the opposite. I don't frequent V that much but I always see a few interesting topics. Yea there will be redundant threads and the usual posters who have no idea what they're talking about, but I've never seen an issue on the forum related to individual expression. People play how they feel like and not necessarily by what others are doing. They may draw inspiration from someone's post or vid but I would hope whatever you do in the game is based on your own conscious decision. And remember it's a videogame, some things are limited to only so many options.

Wanting to know opinions never hurts, after all you're in a damn forum, for f*ck's sake!

You're like the ones who create a thread and don't take opinions but keep the "my opinion is better than yours, kid". Not to mention the ones that complain about EVERYTHING in here. Creating a topic wanting to know opinions doesn't mean I don't have one and I'm looking to someone to copy.

Useless thread is useless. Why is it open if there's no relation with the game?

Simple question from a simple man.

As far as the uniqueness you infered from my post.

Have you ever heard of these hiests things? Or a valentines update?

I know neither have I.

^ I mean, if you don't see it, then I'm not surprised your people skills have come into question.

I'm going to guess you're somewhere in your 40s. I'm nearly 30, so being called "kid" is kind of amusing, but I'll admit you're further along in life with the wife and kids and all that (conformist :p )

Yeah, I went for an extreme example, but just yesterday I saw someone defend the Nazi swastika as a crew emblem on these very forums and I've seen a pic of one here in the Roosevelt thread. So....yeah, that sort of thing is happening.

Lol, made me laugh. You speak for me as well. I was doing good at understanding until it got to the advertisement part. I've studied marketing and business for the past 5 years and saw no connection whatsoever regarding the human nature he described & target markets, but in the back of my mind I'm thinking like "maybe he's onto something deep and I'm just too tired to comprehend". I understand what he was trying to say after reading his response to your post though, but I don't think target markets was a good example.

Simple, there are those who already are into something in their life and play for fun, others are seeking for acceptance, must gain respect and need to feel part of the largest numbers of individuals as possible, trying to impress no matter the cost and the most important is what others think about theirselves.

But i thinks theres too much butthurted individuals at this point, OPs question was on the big picture i think, mentioning supers was only a kind of example which turned out to be the main debate.

Answer for yourselves, you bought zentorno to beat everyone in races, shoot through rear windows and cause a mess, paint it dull to impress like a clown or because you think its beautiful, like the way it behave and sound and because you admires aventador IRL?

I think that explains a lot of the activity on these forums. Sometimes if you don't sugarcoat and ass kiss, people will think you're being rude and the conversation will end up being a discussion unrelated to the original statement.

On PS3 I bought/kept the Zentorno because it looked mean and vicious in matte black and sounded awesome. I bought it on PS4 to win 5 races to get the platinum trophy, then sold it after those 5 races.

I post a topic maybe once every year and a half(3 user names).

Isn't it so much easier and better to attack others ideas/questions/thoughts?

Freaking sheep.

But in all honesty, I. all you dummies.

"Group hugs the entire forum"

^ I mean, if you don't see it, then I'm not surprised your people skills have come into questions.

I stand by all I've said. I call myself Dumb guy. So I called everyone else dummies. ????

And I do say I heart all these people I don't know.

I call some of my clients young lady. They just happen to be 30 years my elder.

And I cause crappy no working employees to quit because they think I'm going to fire them.

I'm human.

Swastikas were around long before nazis.

I

I don't not really care why you wrote what you did. But you asked what you said that could be construed as haughty so I quoted you.

I know Swastikas are from India. That's why I specified Nazi Swastika. You do understand the difference in appearance, do you not?

Dumb, not blind.

Maybe that was to haughty?

Yes it's come 180 degrees. But I'm a troll. One who doesn't post dumbass pics in threads.

Why you keep feeding me?

I really really do like the pics tho. It's like you're some dude sitting in front of a cpu with all these pics to entertain the entire forum.

YOU are a benefit to us all

maybe I've had a few adult beverages.

We should start our own Rat Pack.

I'm in. I call Martin.

My character's look is inspired by The Mechanic - and I added wrinkles with Xbone so he's Bronson-faced with JMV hair. I drive sedans and coupes cuz supers are not low-profile, but own supers cuz I like to drive them. I wear suits but lately I'm digging the combat boots/fatigues/tank top combo I saw on someone else and liked. I think chrome looks good as trim on a lot of cars. Don't care much for races or DM's but can play contact missions all day. I like completing missions with mad efficiency with zero deaths, even if that takes longer. Money is not the goal - it's just a way of keeping score, so I tend to just let it pile up. I don't know what kind of player that makes me, or if my choices are common or uncommon.

That's what's best about GTA Online - I can play one way, someone else plays another and both ways work. I may not agree with another player's stylistic choices, but I can't imagine they're any more concerned with my opinion than I am with theirs, and it's not like someone having a chradder changes my game at all.

In short, each to their own - that's what sandboxes are all about.

Looks like the OP ruffled some feathers. Job well done.

The OP is right but the majority of the people here will disagree and by doing so pretty much prove the OP's point even though they don't realize they are doing it.[/quote

I think it is actually a conscious effort to prove to op that there are brains out there in space, I don't think anyone is digging their own grave on this one. Since his point is stupid, people proving it is does not discredit their input, even if it is hostile. Stfu everyone please, I would stalk this lame harder than curly bob.
