How do certain cars win the elimination games on this forum?

You've probably seen those car elimination games popping up in the forums recently. How are certain cars able to win those elimination games?

 

What factors do people take into account when voting? What does it take for a car to win an elimination game?

It does seem like the popular cars get the most love and also the most hate, while the average stuff flies under the radar and survives for quite a while.

First I give a +1 to a car that I want to win

Then I give a -2 to the car I want to lose

 

If the car I really want to lose is already eliminated I'll just start down voting random cars or down vote the car with the highest score

If the car I want to win is eliminated I stop voting all together

The sedan challenge really summed up the hipster stereotype of this forum, as well as the overriding lameness of people who choose cars with no discernible use at all (Washington, Stainer, and Primo) over cars that have useful attributes (i.e., Stratum), visual mods (Warrener, Tailgater) and raw performance (Shafter) for no valid reason other than the fact that dozen or so guys who post every 12 hours or whatever have more e-scene points than you.

 

No, it's not even spite... it's stupidity.

I downvote Benefactor, and I upvote Obey, its subsidiaries (except Zentorno and Faggio), as well as other companies I have stake in.

 

My preferences are:

1. Obey

2. Vapid

3. Debawchee

4. Coil

5. Bravado

 

Of course, when I run out of Benefactors to olbiterate and there's no more preferred cars around, I have to consider my personal experiences with each of the cars remaining.

 

Of course, honestly? It's not like any car I vote lasts long. You know what happens if you're just an individual? A group can easily negate your vote.

 

EDIT: Also there's this thing where people somehow like to spite me. I don't know what the hell I did to deserve it, but you know. Whatever, man.

I think it's a healthy mix of several factors:

1. The car must have something going for it in the style-department: nice tuning options are a definite plus as is being based on a popular RL car. These things bring the plus points.
2. No hate magnet: cars that are superiour in their race class will be shot down. Cars that are associated with bad players - like Adders and Zentornos used by reverse-driving bullet-spray trolls - even more so.
3. Hipster points: rare cars will get more points than more common ones. Actually, a car that is too often encountered will accumulate minus points just for being too common. This means even more minus points for cars that are actually successful in racing.

For example, the Warrener is popular because it's got "ricer" mods, and the Schaffer/stratum is popular because they are fast.

It's a game, some of us want unlikely cars to win, and some people want the most popular cars to win, we are simply vote-fighting each other, hoping that certain cars' remaining points go unnoticed by those opposing.

 

Some people cheat by encouraging others to vote the same way as them/drawing attention to certain cars.

I vote based on preference. I usually upvote cars i like in terms of looks and downvote ugly/ boring cars. Although if tjere is a car on the verge of a kill i will kill it whether or not i like it (warrener. I killed it just cuz. although it was my favorite left)

Whatever people want, apparently. Lol, you should have seen the super car and sports classic ones. The Zentorno and Z Type were eliminated so quickly because they're fast.

if its op in its class or its just realy good never expect it to win

that being said, i think that if they are gonna do all classes i think these are gonna be the winners

or peopel jsut got bored of the elimination game threads and trolled it anyways, which will probably happen again.

 

Was a good concept once, but like appreciation threads it quickly becomes stale when everyone jumps on the bandwagon.

I'm pretty, pretty definite that the Stratum is sedan class, and is driven by racers.

 

Its in the Sedan class but it's a station wagon,

 

its in the bottom half of the class for racing so it's not popular as a racer

 

Tailgater and Schafter are the racers in the Sedan class
