Is GTA:O dying?

Eh no one really knows how many people play on a daily basis. If I went by my friends alone I would say yes its dying since alot of them either dont play as much or at all and others have moved on to other games but I still always get into full lobbies.

Well, the updates are coming less frequently - and R* don't give enough information about what, and how much, lies ahead. I firmly believe that their appalling communication is killing the game.

 

I think the game, on the whole, is pretty incredible. The single-player campaign was one of the most enjoyable I have ever played - and the online multi-player has given me hours (and hours and hours!) of fun...so far, every update has been pretty enjoyable and, best of all, free of charge! I certainly feel like I have more than got my moneys worth out of this game and, if it dies, I will feel satisfied.

 

..but I can't shake the feeling that their communication is what is letting them down at the moment. We have been left in Limbo for too long, with little more than cryptic hints to go by...and with every week that passes between updates, GTA:Online becomes more and more stale to play - not because it isn't a good game (we have an incredible amount of free content - I'm very grateful!)...but because, at this stage, I have played it to death - I own everything I want, I have driven every car, played every job and explored every corner of the map...the only thing that can freshen this game up for me is an update - free or otherwise - but we don't know when one is due or how many there will be - R* haven't told us...so we are left to speculate.

 

Essentially, because we have been left in the dark by R*, the only guarantee of a fresh gaming experience is to buy a new game...and with every week that goes by - more and more people will be tempted to do exactly that unless R* decide to open up a bit and give us a rough outline of what lies ahead for us.

 

I understand that they don't want to make the 'coming this spring' mistake again - but they could just cover their backs by saying something like: "We hope to be bringing out Heists this month, PC release in March, Cops & Crooks in April (etc. etc.) - the time frame is subject to change, but we just wanted to give you, the fans, a glimpse in to what lies ahead this year". If something gets delayed, they could just simply release a short statement of apology roughly outlining what caused the delay - I think fans would appreciate the communication and, on the whole, be understanding...instead their communication is frustratingly cold and guarded - and we are left with little incentive to keep playing.

 

I love the game but I'm starting to get bored of waiting in the dark...

Well you're on a GTA forum so most of the ppl here are blinded for their love for GTA and they will answer No. I love GTA but I can honestly answer YES...it is nearly dead. Boring fvcking sh*t! I'll stop here before I start ranting

Yes, compared to the first 7 months, the last 7 have certainly been dispersing that population. Also 1/4 gen consoles have now split that dwindling group even more.

I played IV until 9.16.13 and said goodbye to it that night. That's playing for 5 1/2 years with almost zero customization and much less to do.

 

So yes you are correct. I will play this until the day before VI comes out and say goodbye to it.

GTA V will never die, no game dies (I can go play tetris anytime I want)......the only reason you can say GTA Online could be "dying" is with way less people playing...only because a big part of that experience is player to player interaction BUT you can enjoy gta online alone..same way you enjoy GTA sp alone...we are nowhere near people leaving gta in masses...I honestly don't think that will happen till gta 6 or the next sp DLC

 

remember there was a time when updates/ patches/ dlc was not a thing...if that was the case....the original version of gta online would still be that.....no beach bum or anything but then again all original glitches, gate glitch, back of titan etc.......

 

we have been spoiled with updates and instead of appreciating, we blindly just demand more, you guys think too much, play the game and enjoy it, its a very good sandbox game, meaning theres things to do BUT you can also make your own fun, theres a bloody in game phone with a camera..use it....theres CREATORS!!! like seriously thats a big thing..use em

 

theres not harm in playing other games, gta is not meant to have your undivided video game attention...just be the main bitch

Just because you have bad internet and dont know how to forward a port doesnt mean its broken it just means you dont know what youre doing

Allot of people here are straight up saying "Nope" but lets not forget we are avid players. We are using an online forum to discuss the game, we are a specific audience.

 

The best way to think of it is, how many of your friends still play regularly?

For me, very few. Most don't play at all, very few play from time to time. I often find myself struggling to get other players to join games I host with auto invite.

Am I bored with it? Undoubtedly. Last few times i've played, I play for maybe ten-twenty minutes before I think "Yeah, still no heists/Valentines Day DLC/etc" and my enthusiasm to keep playing is gone.

Slowly, yes. GTAO has massive potential, but R* needs to _really listen_ to their players and tweak the game to suit; e.g. nerf the fricking cops/N.O.O.S.E. already. Also, DLC can add 3D toys (fun for a week or so), or long-term playability.

Guess which one is currently missing.

If R* keeps ignoring that (like they've done so well), then people simply aren't motivated to spend their time being annoyed by the game.
