  1. 1. Is GTA:Online dying?

Of course it is, less people play it than when it came out...

Game on the decline = dying

Heists will bring some people back, but only temporarily

Personally I rarely play it, and only when my crew is online OR as and when new updates land. I am sure it is the same or less for a large portion of day one prev. gen. players. When heists drop I am sure R* will see a huge influx for a month or two from that group but once those heists are completed it will tail off again. I certainly wish the game had a few more MMO features to increase longevity...don't get me wrong I feel like I got my moneys worth from the game/s and I anticipate it will be entering my Xbox's disc drive on occasions for a few more years yet!

No, it's not dying.

Besides, the correct question would be, if GTA:O is dead and decaying yet.

I have witnessed a MMO project (2238) starting, developing and dying from the PoV of player. Oh God, the forums.

All the bitching and whining about evil and arrogant developers, who provided a free to play game with updates, spoken with community, implemented suggestions under a tyranny of game masters... Eventually the developers realized that this ungrateful work wasn't fun anymore and let the game die.

The euphoria of the trolls... "Finally!", "told you so since years!"...

And then everyone left. Only winds blew over the burnt Wasteland...

It was the community that killed 2238. And i was one of them and i ain't proud of what i have done.

The big difference is that 2238 was a free to play game...GTAO is not, there is a £20-30 one time buy in fee. I don't care what anyone says, GTAO is not a "free addon" and for a pay to play game it's getting little to no support. Rockstar haven't even tried to fix some of the most detrimental bugs and glitches that have been around since launch, choosing to instead focus on nerfing payouts, fixing any glitches that make money or allow people to have some degree of fun while releasing homogeneous crap content with no real value to anyone not trying to peddle microtransactions.

Before anyone points me to the payout "buffs" that "buff" brings the contact payouts higher than launch...the first time you play the mission, any time after that it's just over half...

All i need is a DLC update. Any DLC update to rekindle my love for GTAO. Don't get me wrong, i play everyday, with a great crew. It's amazing how GTA brought us 6 guys together, couldn't imagine playing without them.

But the game is getting pretty stale and repetitive, i really want a clothes update.

No - in the same way that a parked car isn't 'dead' just because it ain't moving...

...although if someone at R* could put their foot on the gas after 2 months at the side of the proverbial road, it'd be much appreciated! :p

Couldn't have said it better myself!

I feel since New Gen has been released and the lack of updates it is getting stale. I still enjoy playing the game but it needs some new things to do if we got some new gameplay mechanics like gang and drug wars from the EFLC in online or businesses to earn some money to diversify our income I know they'll pay less than SP but it'd still be nice to have something new or even Mission Creator.

I regularly see lots of low level players. I *think* it's safe to assume that most of them are new to the game, so that's growth. Without knowing the balance of new players to people stopping playing, we cannot answer the question.

When I stop being able to join sessions with over 25 people regularly then I'll assume it's dying. Until then I won't.

No, I won't answer, you have to check your poll and see my vote.

For me, yep. Haven't played it really to have fun since November when I rebought it. Other than that, I hopped on only to do the Challenges and then the Ratloader horn glitch.

I can only go off the type of stuff I play in GTA Online which 90% of the time contact missions with the occasional parachute jump or death-match thrown in. Looking at those types of activities I have noticed a decline, I see way less in terms of invites and mission variety isn't there as much.

Free-roam might still be heavily populated but then I rarely bother with it so I don't know.

Yep, it's dying. Mainly because of Rockstars horrible servers that put you in a deathmatch as host when you pressed joine random dm.

I just started playing Destiny at Christmas and im pretty addicted right now! First time since ive had GTA that I havent wanted to play.. Been a month now!

Ill definitely be trying heists when they come out though.

I think it is yeah, maybe because there is no new content at all since Christmas, plus many new players joined the game around that time because well..... it's Christmas.

Anyways I noticed it's much harder now to find a race lobby, much less a full one. The game is stale as hell, hopefully heists bring the spirit back, even with friends missions are getting boring and just a grinding f*ck fest.

I notice it's about 5 in the UK sales charts so I suppose I've written it's obituary rather prematurely! There will be a steady trickle for at least a year as gamers swap to new gen, it seems to have really picked up momentum. Lots of cross platform updating going on too, the fanboys seem to be either calming down or less vocal.

I'll keep coming back to it, and new contact missions or the elusive heists could definitely bring me fully back into the fold.

I'm sure almost every person who moves on to new gen will buy it, even those who filled up the threads about it just before Christmas!

I wouldn't go to say that its dying because you got to remember for the amount who quit playing, there is always people out there who will pick up the game qnd start playing.

I would definitely say that its getting stale and people are getting a bit bored but most still play rather it be once a week or on a daily basis. This community aint dying until the release of GTA VI.

Define "dying" in reference to a video game.

Less and less players playing would mean `dying`.

And GTA is sort of dying.. Usually the 6 months of a game is its peak. R* has not really added much to the game besides the creator. And the creator only has PVP game modes.

Nothing has been really done for co-op and survival. A mission and surival creator is whats really missing from this game

Huh, can't comment on less players. Always in 20-30 person lobbies.
