its not dying.. gtaO might had hit a plateau of players last year with alot of gamers.. some left. some stayed.. most mirgated to next gen. As the game decreases in sale value, more and more new players will buy the game. PC hasnt even released yet also. Maybe last gen gta is dead, I wouldnt know, but that question is more of 'is Last gen dead all together'. thats a whole other debate but I say gtaO is much alive. Heists will be the shot in the arm that gtaO needed. Hopefully after that more missions get released but i understand R* is not going to focus on new missions rather than heists so they left us high and dry with the expection of a few new buggy low level missions. best one is gta today

If you compared it with the number of people I met in the early days of GTA to those that still play on a regular basis (at least once every week), then the answer is

I think it will be some years yet before we see any signs of it dying. I mean there are people on this forum who still swear by GTA4 multiplayer (who knows why) So I wouldnt even call GTA 4 multiplayer dead.
