Are there any hidden benefits to starting a second character?

Recommended Posts

I've been playing GTAO for over a year and my character is now Level 326. I recently started a second character because I thought it would be fun to go through the challenge of unlocking everything all over again. Well, not having the perks that I've gotten used to isn't as fun as I thought it would be. I think I'm gonna delete my 2nd since it's only at Level 5 but I'm wondering if there are any hidden benefits to having a second character besides doubling the amount of garages and cars you can own. Any thoughts?

Oh yes if you play as a female character you get a rare insight in what it is really like to be a woman as soon as you realise there is no washing machine in your apartment.

I started two characters, Demetrius and Courtney, at launch thinking I'd level them both together. It was useful being able to sell two Simeon vehicles per gameday for a while in those lean early days but soon Courtney started pulling ahead in RP and it became clear she would be my favourite. Demetrius was useful again for holding onto my Adder bonds after the Billionaire Days but since then, no benefits other than being able to stash your cash in their pockets if you wanna avoid paying for destroyed PVs on your main like a shiddy troll.

I'm in the same boat as you, tried picking him up again a while back thinking it would be fun but once you're used to certain perks like infinite sprinting and top-tier vehicle control it just felt aggravating not to have them. When I want to challenge myself I just decide to only use certain weapons, not eat any snacks etc.

Once on last gen I for some reason got all of the cars from my first char "duped" into my garage. I bought a 2 car garage with apartment, but when I called the mechanic, all 20 of my first char's cars showed up and I sold them without losing any of the originals. You should try it, not sure if it still does that

I have 2 characters that are both level 140. 1 guy 1 girl. you get the obvious side of different clothes. But there's nothing really to that. I have 2 characters because I love cars. I have 60 cars, 25 on each character that are different. Had I not had both early on, I can't say that I would go through that all over again. I played alot more early on and can now enjoy the benefits of fully modding what ever themed garage I want now.

NO benefits... thing they should do.. is have an ingame plastic surgent that you could go to and change your appearance.. NOW THAT WOULD BE GREAT..

Ill recommend makeing a bitch for your second carachter.. they have other closes and such :D

apart from the extra garage space that comes handy when there is a nice duping glitch, there are no benefits of starting a second character...

its more of pain in the ass once youre used to the things that are locked.

I had that too a couple months ago. But I only had a couple vehicles show up on my 2nd.

oh wow nobody here knows the hidden gem?

YES there is a benefit but only 1. You lose everything so thats a downer but what you gain is a wallet.

You can dump all your money into your bank account then throw it in your 2nd characters pocket and blow up all the PVs you want on your main without paying a cent. All your money is locked away on your 2nd character

Not really - particularly if you're doing the same gender twice, because you're not even getting different unlocks the 2nd time around.

What I found helped make things worthwhile was to not buy the same cars twice - i.e., if I've got a car for character 1, I'm not going to get one for character 2. That got me to try out some new things (like the Stratum, which is surprisingly fun), and helps make the progression feel different.

Same goes for Pegasus vehicles - got a Buzzard and a Rhino for #1, so I made the decision not to get those for #2 (at least, not right away). Got a Swift for #2 as that character's go-to chopper, and I'm dividing everything else up similarly (#1 gets the Miljet and the Vestra, #2 gets the Besra and the Shamal, etc.).

Yes, you could just get everything on the one character, but I like the idea of forcing myself to do different things with each, to make progress with each feel more distinct - different properties, using different default weapons, etc.

Maybe come up with a 'theme' for #2 - street racer, mercenary, rogue cop, biker, etc., and theme your purchases/play style accordingly - for instance, 'cop' might have a Buffalo and a Stanier (gotta have a Crown Vic!), whereas 'merc' might be utility vehicles, jeeps and the like, and 'racer' would be highly-customiseable sports cars, and so on.

I started a 2nd character when my main character got to 200+, then spent a lot of time getting all the stats up to 100% (except health which is level-locked) before he even reached level 5.

My 2nd character is primarily for freeroam fighting (& trolling in a Besra; crashing into other players in air vechicles) and never doing jobs. It's quite a stealthy tactic because high levels don't expect you to be good at fighting them, and with the added benefits of cash earned on your first character you can buy high end cars and the non-level-locked high power DLC weapons so you can stand your ground well. He's at 38 now soley from freeroam play.

For anybody who's played the game at launch and is currently starting a second character, YES there are benefits.

Aside from the ones alredy mentioned, there's the fact that there's an Update Content weapon available for each class that can be purchased at rank 1, considering that you have money from your first character in the bank. You get to take advantage of the time period and start off with some decent weapons this time around.

If you have a decent skill, you are able to dominate high level players. That's the only benefit I see.

Oh and maybe the off chance a modder will drop money for you. They seem to boost low levels more then higher levels.

Start second character, finish tutorial, level up and buy property directly in front of Zancudo. Set spawn location to garage.

Join and leave sessions as you wish and always be close to a Lazer to up that k/d of yours.

Only two benefits - You can use your second character to store duped cars that you can sell later, and there's a glitch in which you can edit your main character's appearance when you have a second character.

Yeah i like having two characters so i can experience the male and female aspects of the game, mainly so i can play barbie dress up with my female character.

Also once you start to level up and get over the initial "hump" of no weapons and health it gets better, personally i like to level up and see my character progress over time.

It takes time and a bit of patience to get back up there, it is best to play with crew mates and friends or it gets boring.

Good luck out there.

1. Access to different clothes, haircuts, etc. if you choose a different gender from your man character.

2. Double the garages and places to live.

3. New challenges. You had fun leveling up the first character, so now you start afresh.

Psst. Hey kid. You want some Adder bonds?

Other than that, there aren't much benefits to having two characters. I guess if you have a SO you could level up their character so they can play with you, and playing as the opposite gender is a strangely relaxing experience.

I think you can do the Flight School missions for full profit via a second character. Decent chunk of change.

I started a second (female) character when my first (male) got up to 140 something. She's 111 now and, even though I poured way more money into my 1st (Pegasus vehicles & super cars), I like playing as my 2nd more. Some d*ckheads will try and start sh*t with you just for having a female avatar and it is even more satisfying killing people like that. I've always liked badass women in movies and whatnot.

1: 30 more cars

2: experience how to be a low level again.

3: rank up and feel good doing it

4: join races and death matches with low levels for easy wins.

5: challenge yourself to unlock things again.

6: dominate high levels who pick on you just because they think tou are a newb.

I have a level 91 transferred over, then created another to start again (rank wise only). I tried a Gerald mission, I died easily. I missed my sniper so bought a marksman rifle, I hate it.

Sticking to my low level though.
