that's right kids! Uncle Sam owns your sh/t!

and it doesn't even matter what part of the world you live in! just use any one of the following services and you're on board!

it's that simple!

But some groups are signing on for full information sharing, starting now. They include the Cyber Threat Alliance, which includes Palo Alto Networks, Symantec, Intel Security and Fortinet; the Entertainment Software Association, which represents Sony and Microsoft’s video game divisions, as well as many more of the largest video game companies in the country; Crowdstrike, a security firm; Box, a cloud storage company; and FireEye, a cybersecurity firm.

Entertainment Software Association Members are as follows:

345 Games
505 Games
Activision Blizzard
BANDAI NAMCO Games America Inc.
Capcom
Deep Silver
Disney Interactive Studios
Electronic Arts Inc.
Epic Games, Inc.
Focus Home Interactive
GungHo Online Entertainment America
Konami
LEVEL-5 Inc.

Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc.
Sony Online Entertainment LLC
Square Enix Co., Ltd.
Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc.
Tecmo Koei America Corporation

so remember.

if you don't want to send all of your private data to the federal government for mysterious reasons, then all you have to do avoid using or buying games from any of the above companies. simple!

And this is a big deal because..?

I know you children don't value your privacy now, but one of these days you just might grow old and cynical enough to understand it's worth.

My government already reads every text, Facebook post, and online search I've made.

Do you propose revolution? :die:

Or just disconnect from the internet, play the game, delete all of its data (including registry), if you're so paranoid.

Playing games with no internet connection and have almost all DRM free games from GOG. Nothing important for me to worry about sharing anything when they can't even track me.

Or maybe you aren't cynical enough to realize that the government is already spying on you. I'm not cynical enough, rofl, first time I've heard that in... well ever.

Anyway, personally I think this is actually a good thing. Since it might just give even the ignorant, tasteless consumers a reason not to buy games anymore.

why do they care about gamers? there are a million problems today yet they have enough time spying on people? what a waste of tax money. i also heard they can hear your mic conversations like telephones. is that true? it sounds like a waste of time.

Why do they have to spy on people not in the US? If you are reading this then join the forum and answer this.

no Valve or Rockstar on this list, I'm good

Probably because the US government has been on Valve's payroll for a while now. Why do you think they get away with so many consumer rights violations?

Apparently they didn't pay the Australian government enough, rekt.

As for Rockstar, they probably aren't on the best terms with the government.

It seems like the only way for honest people to preserve their right to privacy these days is to become criminals. That's freakin' hilarious.

Here I was just worried about my Samsung Smart TV spying on me. No, I don't have the Kinect hooked up with my One. LOL

It wouldn't matter anyway. If the government wants to know something about you, they will get the info one way or another weather its against your will or not. Remember, the US Government is the biggest MOB of them all.

Well, that's making a mountain out of a molehill. All of these companies already share or have shared data, some of which is likely to comprise customer data of some kind, with the infosec community. It's not clear in this context what "customer data" even means; presumably if it's not PII and is held by third parties it isn't really customer data anymore.

We really need more information about what's being shared and how before we all panic.

Looks like it's time for me to go off the grid again. If anyone needs me I'll be pitching a tent in an undisclosed location somewhere in Northern Afghanistan. Laters!

I thought the hyperbole would be apparent.

Not surprised at all, and as sivispacem has said "We really need more information about what's being shared and how before we all panic", so I'm not that worried to be honest.

I wouldn't hold it to being a "security" thing moreso than a pool of information for the corporations that bought congress. These companies already buy and share billions of dollars worth of online consumer data every year, maybe they needed a little more info in the "anti-social male: ages 10-20" area.

Everyone online in game just say you'd love delicious frozen waffles or something and we'll see if the marketing campaigns follow.
