Modders gone on PS3?

Yo, fam. Anyone been on today, and notice a lack of modders? Apparently there was a hot fix (PS3 only) that has made it much harder for modders to do their thing. I'm guessing it hasn't eliminated them completely, but hoping that I'm wrong. If it could at least put a big dent in the absurd amount of modders littering each and every public session, I'd be happy. Won't be able to get online till later tonight, but I'm very curious as to how legit this is.

Follow up question: IF this isn't just a myth, and the modders truly did get the boot from PS3, how long do you figure it will take until they figure out how to bypass this latest fix? A couple days? A week? Months?

A week at most. They have the basics down. I doubt Rockstar would have been able to do much with a hotfix.

They are going nowhere. Essentially R* use Scripts to detect and then prevent the Scripts used by the "Modders" from running and the ability to do so is only as good as R*s knowledge of how the Scripts are bypassing any existing Security Measures.

There will already be Scripts that can bypass the latest fix (if there was one) and the prevalence of Modders then just depends on how long it takes the Scripts that can bypass these changes to be disseminated Publicly (or the existing Scripts to be altered).

So the Answer is realistically: 0 Days.

Yeah, I want to believe this is Rockstar getting their ish dialed in before the (presumably) incoming heist release date, but still skeptical.

lol...the fix wasn't by Rockstar. It was Sony changing the SSL Certificates so now only firmware 4.66 can connect to the PSN.

1. Custom firmware users can get online, we just have to use a 4.66 CFW and quite a lot of us have one reason or another for not updating.

2. That fix will keep people offline a few days at most...enjoy it while it lasts.

No, Sony have patched spoofers, which makes modded consoles look like its on the latest software (when it's not), currently no modders are able to access psn, but a bypass is already in development, so it won't be long before theyre back

I haven't played today, but I hope that if I choose too there aren't too many, seems this past week has been horrible, been bad for awhile and it's getting worse, it's to be expected, current gen is likely getting most of the focus now, and the game is up over a year old now, support is bound to wane eventually so not really shocked TBH. Plus most of the ones I've ran into are just people dropping Money, as long as they don't f*** with me, IDGAF tbh.

Latest firmware has always been the only way to get online, spoofers make it look like your console Is on 4.66 ofw when it's really on cfw, the only way to get online on a modded console currently is to change software, but the only software useable is incapable of modding Edited February 19, 2015 by thewhitehammer99

This is the part of the Story missing in the OP; a Sony not R* thing.

So the Script users will be gone until a new Bypass is developed, however unless R* Update their background scripts in the interim as soon as the Consoles are "spoofed" the Scripts used on GTA Online will run just fine.

Dealt with my first modder yesterday, something with the name PandaWarWish (not exactly sure) but something along the lines. I was running around the map having an all out WAR with everyone in the lobby and I noticed LITERALLY a money trail behind me and no matter where I went or what I did money just POURED into my bank! From many different forms and this new "Anti-Cheat" system I heard once modded money gets into your account you can either spend it immediately or risk having all your hard earned $ basically just taken away.. so in that case after receiving about $175k I treated myself to an Ocelot F620 (w/ mods) and basically had restocked ALL my ammo for all my weaponry. Went back online today and noticed my real money is still in my account which was a big relief! This was on PS3

next thing, the bus catapulted into the air, landing softly in one of the mountains near Mt.Chilliad.

after landing the dude started dropping stacks of money. i didnt took any.

You think I don't know that? Sony didn't fix spoofers, they changed the SSL certificates and since no firmware under 4.66 has the correct certificates that means that no firmware under 4.66 can even connect to PSN, let alone sign in at the moment. Somebody jumped the gun and started spreading misinformation, once the SSL certificates on older CFW's are updated those spoofers will work and those firmwares will sign in just fine. One kid got his sentenced reduced to community service but thats it. ANYWAY you cant get their address from a logger unless they fail their own pass 3 times and get asked to enter further info. just take their CC details and order a sh*t tonne of sex toys and sh*t to a random address so it comes up on the statement lol as 'dildoking....49.95' 'furrypleasure.....89.95' now thats funny lol

ANYWAY you cant get their address from a logger unless they fail their own pass 3 times and get asked to enter further info. just take their CC details and order a sh*t tonne of sex toys and sh*t to a random address so it comes up on the statement lol as 'dildoking....49.95' 'furrypleasure.....89.95' now thats funny lol

Some good modders make the game funner! In a recent session the place was madness but once a modder came he changed everything.

- Everyone stopped killing money was everywhere because A modder kept dropping money, made so much from him lol

- Passive mode was common or else you would be destroyed.

- for the next 20 minutes everyone played together, it was strange. Everyone went against the cops it was super fun!

- But like all good stories, it took one of those ps3 thugs, to blow up a car that was full of 6 people to start the war again. lol

Lol yeah same here, it's like okay cheat on a game all you like doesn't really effect me.

Can it be annoying? Yeah but if I get annoyed I hit the New session option and jet. Issue solved.

If you have ever been forced to the ground by armed cops you wouldnt find it funny TBH. They are trigger happy f*cktards. They want to have fun at the expense of others. I have never encountered a modder that didnt do anything to others in the lobby. Be it teleport you to somewhere and make you dance or blow you up like the place is littered with land mines or even constantly kicking you out of your car. I just leave lobbies with modders but at the same time it would be a laugh if someone had a joke at their expense for once.

If I was you I wouldnt worry because you already have your modding tools right...

Believe me I've had a gun in my face more than once, my most recent was last year when returning from Florida on vacation. Landed at Newark airport (New Jersey) and went to a Dunkin to get coffee (it was 9am) and after leaving I went towards an on-ramp to get on the highway only to get cut off by an undercover while 5 U.O's in civilian clothes jumped out weapons drawn telling me "HANDS UP, HANDS WHERE I CAN SEE THEM OR I'LL SHOOT!" after about 15 minutes of interrogating I asked as to why I was stopped one guy looked over and with the most SERIOUS tone said... "we watched you go into that Dunkin and buy heroin.. NOBODY GOES TO THAT DUNKIN TO BUY COFFEE!" and that's when I looked at the guy (without trying to laugh) and said "well than how does the business still stand if they simply do not sell their own product?" to put it in short terms after I was forced out my vehicle, restrained, searched me and my vehicle and of course found nothing (had some weed in luggage) and after they picked up and said simply and nicely "LEAVE" no apologies or nothing. ACAB

Just the other day I spent about an hour creating a huge stairway at the airport for people to climb and have a Stungun fight when they reached the top, sh*t was fun, took at least 5 minutes to climb and was taller than the Maze Bank, it was a bunch of us, none of whom I knew just having fun for a few hours. Sure, you'll get a few 'bad' people, but that doesn't mean you can label everyone just because you've had bad experiences, they can't even make you dance or teleport you on foot any more.

Besides there's a lot more you can do with a CFW PS3 than just modify games, that's literally just a fraction of what you can do. Honestly, I'm surprised more people aren't running CFW on their systems.
