I purchased Gta 5 the week of release for my ps3 and began online play a month later. So the game is now really old and needs significant new content asap. Will the heists dlc bring significant new content or just a few missions and a lot of new stuff to purchase? The game needs a lot of new stuff to DO than new stuff to buy ( shark card sales ).

The future past heists? A single player dlc is coming and my guess will be announced for a fall release at E3 and then be delayed till "early 2016".

Past heists and a single player dlc i really don't care. I prefer R* put any future development time into Gta 6 for a release as soon as 2017. Well announced for 2017 but delayed untill "early 2018".

Yeah to be honest I care about the Single Player DLC more than heists, hell we know less about that than we do heists lol.

As for heists being the last online DLC, I doubt it, I do think it'll be the only major online focused DLC, I think the story DLC will bring some stuff to online, new cars, guns etc. whatever it adds, but nothing major in terms of online focus.

Maybe an update that adds more heists kind of like how there was an update awhile ago (IIRC the high life) that added more contact missions so maybe something like that. Plus there's all those cops and crooks and other rumors so maybe there'll be more large updates to come, who knows. But firsts Heists need to actually come out lol.

We've seen video after video of potential updates in the future that never really materialise.

I don't even watch rumour videos but I see them in various links and posts on the Social Club and take them with a pinch of salt.

TOP KEK OP.

We've - plural pronoun. Referring to the GTA Online community. Like I said, I see embedded videos and links but I do not watch the videos.

Whatever the case, I think it's reasonable to assume PS3/Xbox 360 users (like myself) will be left with whatever the heist update introduces and everything before that.

Looks like we'll have to spend a few hundred dollars(/pounds/euro's/etc.) to be able to enjoy more content after heists.

Hope they're good!

based on evidence out of your ass?

he didnt mention any evidence, he said 'I think'

Let people have opinions, if you disagree thats fine, thats your opinion.

I think I'm more excited about the chrome rims option than the heists.

Finally, tasteful use of chrome is in my hands. Everyone else, not so much.

obLastGen Content: The world is built, mastered, and works on last gen. You can safely expect any additional content built for Los Santos will appear on last gen and GTAO last gen. By this I mean things like TLaD and TBoGT.

I didn't play any of the various GTA Stories series, but I'd say there's a chance anything in the GTA V generation may very well see last gen, as well. Again, the engine that drives the system runs on lastgen, and you don't waste that resource. Same for GTAV based GTAO.

GTA VI in 4 more years? No way. That'll be PS4/Xbone only. That's a new generation of GTA game, and it's not going to be compatible with consoles that will by that point be well past their sell-by date.

HEISTS: THE BEGINNING OF THE END FOR GTA DLC?

So in the spirit of the impending heists update I thought I would post this rather 'controversial, no doubt' question regarding upcoming DLC. Yes, it's one of those posts... i'm talking specifically about the dreaded 'heists' word here.

Speaking hypothetically, let's say rockstar actually surprise us and release this update. Great, we have then is essentially a series of chronologically ordered contact missions that give you a nice hefty payout. For a couple of months it will interest us no doubt, so a little longer than previous updates. Then what? I'm not criticising the update at all, i'm talking about the bigger picture here. Is it likely we will see further updates after Heists or is this how GTA DLC intends to 'go out with a bang'.

We've seen video after video of potential updates in the future that never really materialise. Military update? Zombie update? Mission Creator? Yes, these. They see things in the coding.

I would love to see some kind of mission/creator update that uses the same pay-out system as current missions based on timing so exploits are avoided. With next-gen I would have thought these kind of updates would be possible, at one time I would have said inevitable.

So what do we think? Do we think there will be future updates in a post-heist world? Or perhaps not? As an avid GTA Online fan who has exhausted most of the game, this interests me.

Not greedy or ewt.

Using big boy words huh?

Heist will not be the last Update.

At some point, there will be paid DLC. Cash Card money is nothing compared to what they will make with paid DLC.

There will never be a map expansion, unless its like some islands or something.

And when that happens Gta Online will sink.

Well they promised this would be the first real DLC of new gen. That hints at more packs, probably they are just very busy completing this very big and ambitious pack. Once they release this they will probably want to release that SP DLC.

I can imagine they will want to go back to their smaller packs a month schedule. They still have incompleted stuff hanging around the game files, like more free roam activities (stealing lester vehicles, killing airplanes and distracting police). Hopefully they will also release the casino, but I am also very interested in the SP DLC story as it appears option C will be the canon ending.

No it won't. It will flourish, just like IV did. People will buy it like no tomorrow. I know I will.

I hope Online does "die" one day, and all thats left are the few people dedicated to the game.

Yeah, that makes perfect sense. A one time paid DLC will make much more money than cash cards that you can buy over and over for virtual monies that are easily lost. I think not.

Rockstar already said there wouldn't be paid DLC due to the huge amount of money they make from cash cards. They also don't want to split the already declining population by making DLC content that people can only play if they pay. Some just wont pay and would quit the game. OR you could use cash cards to offset that loss in revenue from paid DLC and everyone is happy. Sorry if that makes way too much sense.

They said there will be larger paid DLC. Newswire last winter.

Everyone will buy the dlc, only a fraction buys cash cards.

Please link the Newswire post then. I'm not saying it doesn't exist. I just cant find it and would like to see it. Here's a recent Newswire about Free DLC(So far) and shark cards:

“What is the point of Shark Cards, apart from to make you greedy bastards lots of money?” – Tim (via Mouthoff)
The reason we included optional in-game currency in Grand Theft Auto Online, rather than directly selling DLC, was because it was the only way that we could distribute DLC without dividing the player base each time we brought out a new content pack, which would destroy the online community very quickly by splitting players up. Thanks to Shark Cards, we have been able to give away every piece of DLC so far for free in order to keep the community whole and give people options as to whether they want to earn new content by playing the game, buy new content with Shark Cards or simply don’t get new content and still keep playing the game. -Rockstar
Why change their philosophy? Heists will be by far the largest DLC yet and it's free.
Who says everyone will buy any paid DLC? That's just simply not true. BF4 paid DLC is downloaded by less than a third of their populations, same with COD. Cash cards make more money and sense than paid DLC ever will.

Single player dlc is not online dlc. Single player dlc would be like gta 4 tbogt, cost $20-$30,and be seperate from online. Online dlc would still be free and any new cars or weapons could still carry over to the single player mode.

As for shark card sales R* has made a ton as $20 real dollars is only $1.25 million in game dollars. How many players have used $50,$100,or more worth of cards? Probably a very high number when considering gift sales for birthdays and christmas or purchased by players from gift money. Who needs paid dlc with that much money rolling in.

The problem is that most gamers want significant new content for online and are willing to purchase that new content but it seems that the success of shark card sales may be blocking or delaying it.

Arrows to Athens

Rockstar clearly hasn't had GTA on their priority lists for a long time now, the game has pretty much gone to sh*ts.

We used to see patches weekly, now were extremely lucky to get one monthly. Still having problems that existed at launch and with every patch they break stuff that used to work perfectly.

My guess is that they're hard at work on another upcoming game, because they're clearly not doing a dam thing for GTA atm.

If and when heists ever come out, it's gonna be buggy and glitchy as sh*t, despite them taking over a year to "perfect it". The day rockstar releases something that doesn't have a billion bugs and glitches, will be the day I staple my balls to my forehead and go outside clucking like a chicken until I get arrested.

They absolutely don't deserve all the money they made off this game, they didn't deliver whatsoever..

GTA Online review in a nutshell.

My guess is that they're hard at work on another upcoming game, because they're clearly not doing a dam thing for GTA atm.

This ignores the fact that Rockstar is made up of several developers who do have the ability to work on multiple projects at time.

They have several studios under the Rockstar umbrella and each studio has taken a role on specific projects. Which means the others can and do work on other projects separate from each other.

So this fatalistic idea that GTA Online is dead cause Rockstar: San Diego is working on the next Red Dead while Rockstar: North continues to head GTA is just short-sighted.

After heists they're likely going to focus on single player dlc, and that's about time. All the other updates/dlc they released were just to keep us interested by throwing a bone on a monthly basis until the release of new gen. After the single player dlc is released it can go either two ways: they'll continue on expanding GTA Online or they will focus on the next GTA. I wouldn't be suprised if Rockstar has yet to make that decision.

I wouldn't be suprised if Rockstar has yet to make that decision.

Oh they have. They started working on V when they released IV. They've already begun development on VI. But using IV as an example, at the same time they'd begun working on V, they'd released TBOGT and TLATD for IV.

Rockstar can walk and chew bubble gum at the same time. Despite what the Doomsday prophets say.

What I meant is that they may still decide whether they want to continue expanding on GTA Online as they originally intended after the game was first released. I think this decision will be based on the player base and popularity of heists after it's released. It's the same with tv series, the addition of new seasons are based on the ratings. You're right that there are different studios for each project and if there will be a new GTA they're most likely already working on it. But perhaps there won't be a new GTA and the focus will be on expanding GTA Online.

No need to explain. I agree with you...I was expanding on your point with my post. The snarky bit was directed at the "all is lost" crowd.
