Haha...OP assumes heists are actually coming out...

"I know why you're here. I know what you've been doing... why you hardly sleep, why you live alone, and why night after night, you sit by your computer. You're waiting for heists. I know because I was once waiting for the same thing. And when I gave up, I realized I wasn't really waiting for heists. I was waiting for an answer from Rockstar. It's the question that drives us. It's the question that brought you here. You know the question, just as I did."

I think you'd be a fool to assume they will not release Heists. They've more or less promised the Heist content, and I imagine someone would probably sue for false advertisement.

I dont think Heists will be the end of GTA Online. It will be like any DLC we have received from them. Its fun for a week of two but after that you already looking forward to new content.

What Online needs is more gamemodes (Cops N Crooks for example) a new Survival creator for us to play with. New cars. We need a proper DLC pack. Not tiny bits and pieces to keep us going. Its not a world thats constantly evolving. Its been asleep for...well since December.

OP:

Nope - not while some of the most popular/demanded stuff is really easy for R* to do. Couple of new vehicles (or GTA IV ones given a re-model), some themed clothing items and a new weapon or two - lather, rinse, repeat.

Adds a bit of novelty to the game, drives up cash card sales for those folk who want them immediately, and there's usually something for most players to enjoy for a bit, until the next thing comes out - I've lost count of the R* support threads, Reddit topics, or GTAF forum posts, asking for a 'racing update' or 'sports update' or 'LS gangs update', or what-have-you.

That, and new interiors/activities, like the Flight School stuff, or the upcoming Bahama Mamas West - effectively, R* can just go and add new functionality to every existing non-functional thing in the game (the casino, all the restaurants, nightclubs, the comedy club, the stadium, etc.) and just patch in new stuff until ...the launch of GTA VI, at which point I imagine there'll be an companion upgrade to GTAO, where people can import their progress (if not specific vehicles/clothing/weapons, then money/skills/character appearance) to the new game/setting.

What probably will happen is a dropping of support for PS3 and Xbox 360 - we've already had advance warning that people on the most basic-level PS3s are going to run out of memory/storage space for updates after a certain point, and eventually, it'll get to the point where making new content backwards-compatible will be too limiting for some of the more ambitious new expansions for the game, as well as the older machines simply lacking the power to handle a content-saturated, heavily-patched version of Los Santos.

But the question is, what is the plan that R* has for GTAOnline. I mean its been 1,5 year now with GTA Online. And what DLC's did we get? Small ones. Now with the PS4/One and PC out R* can develop bigger DLC (last gen...perhaps). But why the halt everytime. Heists are supposed to be the next big thing. But with every postpone we got a slice of the cake that was fun for a week.

When is it really giving us something to play with that lasts

Theres a lot more coming for GTAV/O, a lot, its just we arent hearing about it because Rockstar gets mobbed by everyone when they talk about something and dont release it the next day. They made the mistake of predicting timelines for dlc back with Max Payne 3 and failed to hit on every single one, missed the original release season for V, and of course still havent released heists. They seem to have decided that its better not reveal anything their working on since everyone will want to know when its going to be done and when they can't get it done on time everyone flames them non-stop. Can't say I blame them, but they should reevaluate when its a good idea to do reveals based on how close the project is to completion. Saying youre going to release heists a couple weeks after the game launches when you clearly are not even close to finishing it is inexcusable. Not nearly as inexcusable as 16+ months of added time to finish said heists which are still not out, but still a massive mistake. Its a safe bet that they are using every bit of man power they have to make sure that PC releases on tim...on its postponed date and from there its a few patches for PC and on to nothing but DLC since they will finally have every platform covered and ready for expansions. The first 1 or 2 major DLCs will release this year, with several more throughout 2016, from there its likely their next game will then take priority as they prepare to release it amongst the final couple of V dlcs.

Speaking of Rockstar missed release dates, its likely their next game will be the next RDR, will they botch the release date for that too? Their last 4 games all suffered a delayed release date with each of them being announced at least one full year before they actually arrived. Im curious to see if they make the same mistake yet again, if they do then it would indicate that missing release dates is not accidental and maybe its intentional for reasons I certainly dont understand, perhaps its part of their marketing strategy since it certainly creates a huge buzz when they do delay things.

the "black technology" DLC will be the last one...and yes it will include the jetpack...also a stealth suit. it will be bananas!

You mean UPDATES, not "DLC"

They'll do 2x or 3x weekends like they did with RDR in between an ever-increasing time period between updates...probably about 6 months after heists come out

They will continue to add DLC until the Old-gen consoles are reaching their limits. But after that, I do not know if they will add exclusive DLC for Current-gen consoles [PS4/XOne]

Update...there's no debating it, it's already done, long ago...even Rockstar calls them updates...you just keep watching lying, attention-whoring YouTube videos where they call them DLC, ok

I started to figure the same thing about "heists" being the last "update content," seeing as how it's probably intended to be extensive enough to last awhile after content updates cease, sorta like how you hold the taste of a beverage in your mouth after that last, good sip.

That ESPECIALLY sounds likely if you consider the possibility that sticking with consistent holiday updates (i.e. Valentine's Day) is something Rockstar may very well decline to do, for whatever reason.

By the time GTA VI comes out tho, I can't say I'll even be entirely concerned. Cause I sure ain't too pressed now.

Any "the-opening-of-presents-on-Christmas-Day" like anticipation I may have possibly had at one point, has long since been gone. But I don't remember being that excited bout heists in the first place, so yeah.

Given they've spent a over year writing and re-writing heists and working on story mode DLC, making the next gen/PC versions with first person mode I'd suggest its top of their priority list.

Proof or it didn't happen. A lot of the DLC was ready to go. As with many companies, they just cut content and line it up as DLC.

Many aspects of 1st person were extremely half assed, such as the interiors on cars. They didn't put an incredible amount of effort into this feature and it shows.

Weekly updates ? when exactly was this ? we got updates once a month, if that.

Judging by your confusion, it would suggest you recently got the game. Back in 2013-2014, there were weekly patches to address the various issues that were present. The game is still swarming with issues, yet were seeing little to no patches at all. For a while we were actually getting DLCs once a month, but patches were just about every week. There's no excuse for them not to be continuing support, unless this magical heist DLC will also contain a mega patch for all the problems the game has, but that's unlikely..

You want proof that they've been working on next gen, PC, story DLC & heists?

Well next gen inc. first person mode came out 18th November. PC version will be on March 24th.

The dude who voices Franklin said that he was back at Rockstar, working on new stuff for the game (story DLC) and R* have themselves said they are working on it.

Heists have been re-worked several times, as quoted in this interview with the lead developer http://uk.ign.com/articles/2014/12/16/grand-theft-auto-5-online-heists-finally-revealed?read

Or are you saying all of that is false ? and that you know better than the lead developer ?

ergo, GTA5 is still very much in active development.

No confusion here, you were saying that Rockstar don't care about GTA any more on the basis that we don't get "weekly" updates. DLC is an update to the game as it offers new stuff. Hotfixes are just that, a fix. Willing to be proved wrong but we didn't receive weekly hotfixes in any sort of consistency in fact isn't last gen only on v1.20 now ? given they started at 1.0 that only means 20 game updates in total, in 16 months and some of those were DLCs, so your claim of weekly updates is inaccurate.

Heists & Story Mode DLC have been confirmed by R*. Although the SP DLC has somewhat faded into obscurity. It will probably be mentioned again once the PC Release is out since then everyone on ALL Platforms will be looking to R* for indications on what Updates we are likely to see in the Future for GTA V/GTA Online.

Only thing is, game has been out for 18 months come PC Release and I for one will not Purchase a SP DLC unless we get a significant amount of Content carry over to GTA Online. In fact, I have enough upcoming games this Year I will probably stop playing GTA Online less playing briefly after Updates.

R* have decided not to communicate with the Playerbase or Release anything so far this Year; hence why Threads like this have started appearing.

I think at first Heists will be a great experience. Running through all 6 Heists playing different roles with different friends/crew members will provide lots of variety, but hopefully they continue to add a few more Heists after the initial relesase. I still grind the contact missions even though some are redundant, after a while we even go back and play some of the earlier/easy missions.

To add, I re-read R* release back about the delay of the PC version to March 24th.

"Online Heists for consoles will be launching in the coming weeks ahead of the PC launch."

Maybe it is my interpretation, but I read it as sooner than later. If it had the words "prior to, or leading up to" it would be closer to the PC launch. Pure speculation, just still hoping for sooner than later! Carry on.

OP you really need to stop looking for sh*t that isnt there and listening to people that think they work at R*. People think they can read the coding but have been proven to be wrong time and time again so why fall for the BS they put out to get their 15 minutes?

Sorry but people like you deserve to be disappoint for being so gulible

I presented that in a cynical manner. Wasn't that obvious? I don't fall for it at all as coding is an extremely unreliable source, and to be frank I don't even watch rumour videos but I see them in various links and posts on the Social Club and take them with a pinch of salt.

Considering that Trevor pretty much made a mockery of The Lost M.C. during the events of GTA V, I think we have a huge chance of seeing 'The Lost & Damned 2' (with a view to them regaining their glory), I never played the first, but it certainly seems like it was a big success from what I've seen and read.

Note also that:
*There's a bunch of motorcycles from The Lost & Damned that aren't in GTAV, plus Rockstar haven't added any similar style motorcycles since GTAV came out.

*There's that Lost M.C. clubhouse near the casino that is not interactive in any way.

*Some coordinates/data was recently found indicating that it was going to be possible to play darts in the clubhouse originally.

Exactly. Why is everyone calling it "DLC"? Even R* dont have the guts to call it that. Its a compulsory update, that can be downloaded.

Yes it is the end IMO.

Since Christmas, nothing new came to this game, no rerelease of V day update, not even bug fixes. I think R* is realy busy with heists more than PC just to get over with this burden that has been naging on them since game launch.

By the way I'm not defending R* in anyway, but the exact opposit.

Heists can not clean their face after the big mistakes they've done. Nor RedDead 3, not even agent.
