Heists: The Beginning of the End for GTA DLC?

HEISTS: THE BEGINNING OF THE END FOR GTA DLC?

So in the spirit of the impending heists update I thought I would post this rather 'controversial, no doubt' question regarding upcoming DLC. Yes, it's one of those posts... i'm talking specifically about the dreaded 'heists' word here.

Speaking hypothetically, let's say rockstar actually surprise us and release this update. Great, we have then is essentially a series of chronologically ordered contact missions that give you a nice hefty payout. For a couple of months it will interest us no doubt, so a little longer than previous updates. Then what? I'm not criticising the update at all, i'm talking about the bigger picture here. Is it likely we will see further updates after Heists or is this how GTA DLC intends to 'go out with a bang'.

We've seen video after video of potential updates in the future that never really materialise. Military update? Zombie update? Mission Creator? Yes, these. They see things in the coding.

I would love to see some kind of mission/creator update that uses the same pay-out system as current missions based on timing so exploits are avoided. With next-gen I would have thought these kind of updates would be possible, at one time I would have said inevitable.

So what do we think? Do we think there will be future updates in a post-heist world? Or perhaps not? As an avid GTA Online fan who has exhausted most of the game, this interests me.

Not greedy or ewt.

1. Heists are coming.

2. R* said they will keep GTAO DLC free thanks to Shark Cards.

3. A mission creator actually exists and could be found by glitching the Content Creator back in mid 2014 but they patched it and you can't glitch through anymore, however you could not do anything in the creator as it was not finished.

Heist will not be the last Update.

At some point, there will be paid DLC. Cash Card money is nothing compared to what they will make with paid DLC.

There will never be a map expansion, unless its like some islands or something.

This would make the game infinitely enjoyable. Just cap the missions' RP and money output with mandatory objectives/enemies and let us go nuts with creating our own missions. I have so many ideas for insane missions it's not even funny. I would re-create action scenes from famous movies or just come up with multi-objective missions like LS Connection or Hit'em Up because those tend to be the funnest.

Rockstar said back in December that the main priority is finishing and releasing Heists. Then they might drop more Heists in future updates. However don't expect something as big as Heists in the rest of 2015 or 2016. I believe that R* will stop support on V in 2016. By then the Story Update, Heists and probably the final GTA Online update will be out and there focus will be on Agent/Red Dead 3/Max Payne 4

No reason to think heists will end DLC except being a Chicken Little and getting into a sky-is-falling panic. I do think they'll naturally slow down over time as the player base thins out and less money rolls in; naturally Rockstar will respond by moving developers on to new projects. But they've talked about wanting to keep this alive for years and regular DLC of some kind is the way to do it.

The reason there's a lot of "leaks" that seemingly come to nothing is that people are finding stuff in code and either misinterpreting what it means, or reporting cut content that R* never plans on delivering as "upcoming." Placeholder tags and sound files do not mean that a significant amount of development has gone into a feature - just that they thought of doing it and wanted some of the infrastructure in place in case they did. I work in software and our code is absolutely loaded with skeletons of features that never got finished, or in some cases, really were never even started.

LOL at op watching domisafa**ot and iCrazyfa**ot and believing all the rumors.

By the way, a mission creator for what? For more "Rooftop Rumble v2 99999999rp & 99999999$"?

Whatever the case, I think it's reasonable to assume PS3/Xbox 360 users (like myself) will be left with whatever the heist update introduces and everything before that.

Looks like we'll have to spend a few hundred dollars(/pounds/euro's/etc.) to be able to enjoy more content after heists.

Hope they're good!

Rockstar clearly hasn't had GTA on their priority lists for a long time now, the game has pretty much gone to sh*ts.

We used to see patches weekly, now were extremely lucky to get one monthly. Still having problems that existed at launch and with every patch they break stuff that used to work perfectly.

My guess is that they're hard at work on another upcoming game, because they're clearly not doing a dam thing for GTA atm.

If and when heists ever come out, it's gonna be buggy and glitchy as sh*t, despite them taking over a year to "perfect it". The day rockstar releases something that doesn't have a billion bugs and glitches, will be the day I staple my balls to my forehead and go outside clucking like a chicken until I get arrested.

They absolutely don't deserve all the money they made off this game, they didn't deliver whatsoever..

R* have publicly shared their aspirations for GTAO. Heists are a drop in the bucket compared to what they were talking about per-release.

Whether those aspirations are realistic, or even come to fruition is another thing entirely.

Who knows..

If we (the community) continue playing, the likelyhood of continued support increases.

we could get more heists

though I think after heists come out we won't get updates as frequently as last year (Like LTS, hipster, etc.) since I feel like those were partly just to keep us occupied and give us things to buy. They'll probably release bigger updates less frequently, maybe once every 3-4 months

"We're proud to announce Grand Theft Auto to have a Spring 2013 release!"

Delayed.

"We're proud to announce Grand Theft Auto:Heists to have a release BEFORE PC's release on March, 24th!"

Delayed.
