American Viking
I don't often stand up for GTA V's story, but I think this warrants just that. The game catches a lot of sh*t for our 3 protags supposedly becoming the FIB's "bitch" but it wasn't like that at all. For Michael, Dave Norton knew that Michael robbed Vangelicos, but instead of arresting him...he tasked Michael with a favor. It's that simple. The favor was to see if Ferdinand Kerimov was indeed dead as stated by the I.A.A., or if he was being debriefed somewhere. Of course he was being debriefed somewhere and not dead, and since Michael was doing Norton a favor and he didn't really have a choice once Haines got involved, he went ahead with extracting Ferdinand from the I.A.A. building. You people know the story but, in a nutshell, Michael worked with them to save his own skin, Trevor worked with them under the assumption that they'd let Brad out of prison or reduce his sentence, and Franklin helped out of loyalty to Michael for showing him the ropes. I hardly see these events as being someone's "bitch". But, if you consider this as being someone's "bitch", then surely you consider every protag we ever had to have been someone's "bitch" as well. How many people did Niko, Carl, Claude, etc. work for to either save their own skin or find the men they were after? Many. To me it's the same thing. I'm not as bothered by the fact that we work for the feds in GTA V as a lot of you. I'm disappointed that it took up alot of the story but not the simple fact that we worked with them. Our protags had their reasons. Edited February 18, 2015 by American Alpha SmokesWithCigs, LeeH1989 and Chad Warden
LeeH1989
Yeah its the fact it took a huge chunk of story that bothered me a bit thats all, i mean look at how many missions Niko done for the law.. Francis mcrearys missions and the IAA chunk. The Green Sabre, SmokesWithCigs and American Viking
The Green Sabre
I also loved how half of the heists were done on the FIBs behalf, and I especially love how they got the lion's share of the money. Really portrayed the feeling of being someone's bitch quite well.
Algonquin Assassin
I feel this way too. Like you said in the other games we worked for other forms of law enforcement, but those were in relatively small numbers. The 2nd half of GTA V's story really does feel like being government gimps for hire. For most people that seems to be what grinds their gears about the whole FIB/IAA fiasco. To be honest, I would have not minded that part of the story, if they had made more missions for the three protagonists, away from the FIB stuff. For example, give Michael additional missions for the film studio, for Franklin give him more missions with Lamar in developing his set of the GSF, and for Trevor have missions involving his drug empire. Thoughts? The Green Sabre, Algonquin Assassin and American Viking
The Green Sabre
^ I agree completely. I felt that those things were put on the back burner in favor of the FIB stuff. I wouldn't have minded AS much if those types of missions were greatly expanded on. Although I would still be bothered by doing half of the heists on the FIBs beck and call.
