RDoutlaw85
Do you think R* implemented the stock market to keep from doing any work? As detailed as it is its the only way to earn vast amounts of money. Forget that you're criminals that rob banks, why not hit it big in the stock exchange. Forget Trevor building T.P.I up, forget Franklin expanding his businesses. Lets have a couple missions where you Invest, Kill, Sell... Over and Over. How fun. walkingsickness
I don't think R* was even thinking about doing SP. If they thought they could get away with just doing online, they would of. Alot of sh*t in SP just don't make sense...like common sense. Like having an assets that cost over $100 million to purchase, yet the only way to get it is to manipulate the stock market, but forget the fact that there are heist in this game. R* gave NO f*ckS about singleplayer. Edited February 18, 2015 by walkingsickness Osho and Christofchickens
Turkey Shenanigans
Apparently the stock market was supposed to be in online since October 2013. So was heists. 2 years later, neither of those. So many broken promises.
Algonquin Assassin
IMO the stock market makes the side missions pointless. Osho
Turkey Shenanigans
IMO the stock market makes the side missions pointless. They could make it so the Lester assassination missions affect the stock market. And player actions like destroying vehicles, etc. For example a lot of PVs get destroyed in free roam. Then Mors Mutual stock goes up. IMO the stock market makes the side missions pointless. They could make it so the Lester assassination missions affect the stock market. Algonquin Assassin
IMO the stock market makes the side missions pointless. How does it make the side missions pointless? Because the payouts for doing side missions are sh*t in comparison to the stock market. In the past side missions were always the best way of making income outside of the story. Not any more. In the past we had casinos and horse betting, did you forget that? SA, the game with all those countless side missions, those apparently are all pointless? Also in VC, the vigilante missions that were easy as f*ck using the rhino tank made all the other side missions pointless? No, there's actually something more important than money, it's called having fun. And you're not forced to use the stock market either. So surely it didn't make the side missions pointless. I didn't forget them Besides even if you ignored the casino and horse betting as well as other exploits such as using a Rhino to complete vigilante missions in VC the other side missions still generated enough cash to be able afford most things in their respective games. Being infinite also helped too which is something GTA V lacks. I understand what you mean by doing side missions for fun, but the point I'm trying to make here is in regards to their role of income generation. Not something that is entirely subjective without being based on fact. It's simple really. Start a new save of GTA V and try to buy everything in the game without using the stock market and only use the money from side missions. Two things are likely to happen A) You'll likely get sick of grinding and B) Start digging into the money made from the heists. The fact is the stock market is the only efficient way of making serious coin outside of the story. Yes you're technically not forced to use it, but it's the only way if you want the full experience the game offers whereas in the past the casinos and horse betting were quick and easy early access if you chose to do so, but even if you ignored them it didn't take that long save up to buy the best things as the side missions usually paid well as well as decent payouts from missions also. R* gave NO f*ckS about singleplayer Exactly!! This! To those who are pointing fingers at GTA SA ( and previous games ) to help their another lame argument in favor of precious GTA V should get the fact through their thick heads that in GTA SA you never had so limited OPTIONS for earning money outside THE STORY. In V Stock Market is the only way to "earn vast amounts of money" - as rightly pointed out by OP. If you missed the opportunity of scripted events for investing in stocks during STORY missions you'll a hard time later, or even have to start a new game just to make enough cash to buy properties. And the negative effect of making money through stocks comes from the massive payout which makes the rewards from anything you play seems so small and pointless. THAT'S THE DIFFERENCE. And don't get me started on how much the mission rewards themselves suck compared to previous games. You just don't get feel like replaying the missions. In GTA SA the players can easily ignore horse betting and also casino ( which opens up late in the game btw ). I never used horse betting outside for making money fast to buy properties. Its good to have such options but otherwise the game also allowed to roleplay through the natural progression of making money from lots of odd jobs and missions. So much fun. The only criticism I have are the extremely limited options to spend money on, which still continues to be the biggest flaw of the series.
