Alpha Demigod
I didn't find a thread dedicated to this PC-exclusive feature so I'll start one now. GTA4 PC featured a video editor and it was amazing at the time. There are countless amazing films made using it, because the game is the ideal Machinima maker. Seriously, they had the look of a professional grade 3d film but take a fraction of the time because the meshes and animations are already made. You just need to "play" your story, and edit the camera angles and such. GTA V will feature one. And I am excited for this. So much potential. Imagine the ultra-HD graphics and what we can do with them. - Trevor, dressed as a maniac, with an axe, stalking hikers through the woods and killing them. All filmed at nighttime, with the fog. A true in-game horror film. - Action movies done with high-speed Adder chases and 5-star shootouts. - The beautiful vistas captured in all their glory during a flight session. - Underwater. Diving, swimming, with sharks nearby. Someone could recreate Jaws or something with the right mods. Or make a "National Geographic: Rockstar Edition". Shipwreck exploration, giant sharks, whales, there is so much potential with underwater gameplay alone that I can't even process the wonder. So in this thread let's talk about the video editor. What features do you hope to see? What do you think will be given to us? What films would you want to see and/or make? EvilDog77
I'm pretty stoked for it too. It would be nice if you had total control over pedestrian locations, animations, etc as well as being able to place vehicles and make things move wherever you want them to, but it'll almost certainly not have those features. One can only dream. By the way, someone already made an awesome on GTA V NewGen WITHOUT the video editor.

Eurotrash
GTA4 PC featured a video editor and it was amazing at the time. There are countless amazing films made using it. Where? Just to clarify, you are talking about the poorly synced video editor from GTA IV that nobody gave a damn about right? Crystal3lf
that nobody gave a damn about right? Maybe you didn't, speak for yourself. A lot of people gave a damn about it, thats why it's coming back for GTA V. You might be on to something there buddy. <facepalm> Just to clarify, you are talking about the poorly synced video editor from GTA IV that nobody gave a damn about right? Admittedly, not many people used it exclusively to make videos, but it was very handy for creating scenes and capturing shots for export ready for post-processing in a proper editing suite (like I did with and ). Not sure why you think its 'poorly synced' though. I never had syncing issues with it. Edited February 17, 2015 by EvilDog77
EvilFiend
I honestly wish machinima like 'arby and the chief' would make a big comeback. 'Funny' montages are cancer and not even remotely funny unless youre a ADHD 8 year old. I would like to see some quality story telling in the form of a mini series. Really miss the days when most machinimas were like this instead of lets plays. Not sure exactly how the video editor will run though. Probably better and easier just to use a cap card. Where? Just to clarify, you are talking about the poorly synced video editor from GTA IV that nobody gave a damn about right? Yeah, no one gave a damn about it. I guess that's why there's a massive GTAIV Machinima library and thriving community of people who used it to make high quality videos. *facepalm* If anyone still has doubts, watch the first 2 minutes of this video. You'll see how far a video game, a built-in video editor, and a bit of artistic creativity can go: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jfY1XtniNhs this too: Edited February 17, 2015 by Dark Bordeus mobile and Hover_Mode
Dock
GTA IV machinimas were the best, no, really. 10x better than the clickbait stuff we have now for GTA V. Remember UltraBenBuja's videos? Damn also, *back when Machinima posted machinima circlejerk*, but it's true isn't it. I hope people use V's video editor well! Revive the GTA V scene on YouTube with actual videos worth watching! Also, it's called the 'Rockstar Editor," which leads to me think there's a sliiight chance R* might allow us to shoot everything in editor mode with a options like the content creator, e.g.: actors (like in the capture mode creator), place vehicles, props, etc. I mean, they know people used Simple Native Trainer to make most of the really good machinimas, so why not include some options from the get go? Of course, this is also just as NOT likely because "R*," and also because I'm sure a lot of the machinimas would have to be played out IRL with real players in Online for example, and then edited with camera angles and stuff, just like with IV. Unless they allow a special video editor lobby type thing maybe, where designated players can use the editor (and set up camera angles, props, etc.) on the fly while they direct the players/actors to do whatever, I guess this is going to be pretty much a improved version of IV's editor. But one can dream.
EvilFiend
All I remember benbuja doing was jumping out of helis into back yard pools and stunts like that. Wheres the story driven webisodes at?
Dock
(there I think 3 or 4 parts, I don't remember) (5 episodes to date) Then there's Janstuu's "Living In Liberty City" movies, 1 & 2. Yeardley Diamond also has his various other projects. There was that full length movie called "Trashmaster". Machinima also showed season 1 of a GTA IV machinima last year, forgot the name (NPC or something). There's plenty more, I don't remember all of them though. RedIndianRobin
The video editor is gonna be a boon for YouTubers. Can't wait for it to use it myself.
KAP_
I make short films (2-3mins) of GTA V. I had to make a few of these until the PC video editor comes. Ahhh I can't wait! kraftwerkd
uNi
The V editor has a ton of potential. I mean, who at vids some people are doing with the console versions, imagine when those guys get a proper video editor within the game.
FugetSudo
I still love IV's video editor and I can't wait for V's! It's the main reason I wait this long to play the game on PC.
Trash_Ok
I need that video editor now !!! So sick of all the "9999999999 money glitch" or "MLG 360 Noscope 1st person holy sh*t mom get the camera" videos of 12 year old kids .. or what's even more sad, even older idiots... I want to bring some new content and prove that GTA V was meant to be released for PC... I'm going for Machinima kinds of videos with stories and an actual point for entertainment. Can't wait to start. KyojinEM
Nick930930
I hope there's an editor that allows you to record gameplay sessions and allows you to revist those scenes and fast forward/rewind through them to get different angles of big moments. Battle Recorder in Battlefield 2 did this and it was great for making movies.

Agree, I more or less used it to create many machinima like videos, even music videos at some points, it was very nifty for it's time, I must say
