Changing weapon animation makes the game insta-close on aiming

Hi

 

I'm trying to put a bullpup rifle on the game, and the best animation I've found is the MP5k one.

But the problem is, I don't want it to replace the MP5k, and when I choose it to use its animation (anim group="[email protected]"), it crashes and quits to desktop when I (or anyone using it) fire or aim.

 

Funny thing is, if I have the MP5k on my inventory, it doesn't crash. If I remove the MP5k from my inventory, the rifle using its animation will work for a while (I guess until I go to another block), then it'll crash when I use it.

This also happens if I change the animation of, say, the M4 for the MP5k.

 

I've tried adding the rifle as a standalone weapon, then I tried by replacing the P90 on TBoGT, no dice.

 

Any clues of what should I do?

There is another file that relates to weapon anims.

I am not at home so cant double check. Think its default.ide

I am assuming you are replacing the ak or m4. Just tweak the corresponding line from ......ak47 to ......mp5k

I will look it up later to see if i can describe the process better.

Ok if you are getting crashes after editing anims in the weapon.dat

ALSO

 

open DEFAULT.IDE

 

# machineguns
w_ak47, w_ak47, [email protected], 1, 50, 0
w_m4, w_m4, [email protected], 1, 50, 0

 

If it is the AK you have replaced with the bullpup and want the MP5 anims to work change

 

# machineguns
w_ak47, w_ak47, [email protected]mp5k, 1, 50, 0
w_m4, w_m4, [email protected], 1, 50, 0

Damn, son! I'd never think about that.

I've even thought about changing the ak47 anim, but this is so simple!

I'll give it a try when I get home. I'll love you in a manly way if it works.

For some reason, sometimes even changing the animation in both default.ide and weapon xml there seem to be issues sometimes - everything may work fine, but sometimes when NPCs try to shoot their weapons your game might crash....it seems very random though....if that does happen, just change the animation with Spark IV, obviously though it will affect other weapons using the ak47 anim as well.

Another tip: if you are making ak47 use [email protected] animation from TBOGT then you should put [email protected] animation from Anim.img (i think its .img) from EFLC\TBOGT\pc\anim to file that contains common animations EFLC\pc\anim
