Point me to the civvy vehicle in this game that can absorb 3 or 4 sticky bombs and keep moving, or has an infinite ammo rocket launcher attached to it.

 

The tank may be weak from a realism standpoint, but from a gameplay standpoint it's now balanced about correctly. It didn't used to be. Any game that mixes tanks with on-foot warfare (see also: Halo series) has to weaken the tanks significantly in some way, or it just turns into a slaughter.

So now a jet dominates air and land so balanced.

 

 

I think the jet needs nerfing, so you're talking to the wrong guy with that one. In any case, if your argument is that a griefer's former favorite tool needs to be more powerful again to counter a griefer's CURRENT favorite tool, which is too powerful... well that's a pretty crappy argument. They were both problematic from the beginning. Just one has been fixed and one has not (yet).

 

 

 

Halo listened to the "MLG" players then halo 4 flop came and guess what 99% camp in corners with dmrs. A once famous map on halo reach turned into the most hated camp fest dmr map in the history of halo. Still play reach till this day because halo series went downhill due to the whiners, now it full of campers.

 

 

LOL. As if MLG players are the reason Halo 4 was bad. They HATE Halo 4, almost every single one of them. And what that has to do with tanks throughout the Halo series I have no idea.

The low point in the history of the tank was when people with no money paid no insurance, forcing the owner to foot the bill. I suppose to some people that was the high point but...nah.

 

Never see them anymore and if I do it's just 'oh look, a tank' and carry on about my business.

R* completely ruined the Tank.

 

The entire time it was slow moving and you could hear the Shell fire from the Tank from far enough away it could not reach you, meaning you could easily get away from it...I still feel like we deserve a refund on our Tanks as we do not have what we originally paid for.

Tank troll problems. :bored: You tank jackoffs all say the same f*cking thing -- "Hey, we move slow, you got plenty of time to run away." and "Hey, you can hear our explosions from blocks away, you got plenty of time to run away."

Yeah I remember it... And it sucked lol. Tank scrubs showing up to spoil the fun every 5 minutes.

 

In freeroam battles, everyone had a good time running around, shooting at several other players, trying to come out on top. Everyman for himself. But THEN there was always that chump who went like 1-17, and got mad at everyone else for being better than him. So they would go run away to grab a tank and RUIN THE WHOLE FIGHT for everyone.

 

Tank scrubs felt so brave in their rhinos, only to suddenly get so shy and go into passive mode after having been blown to bits, acting as if they never meant any harm and never wanted to fight in the first place -.- lol

Tanks are fine just how they are.

 

Jets could use a slight nerf, although I'd be good with them if R* would fix the f*cking Heavy Sniper.

 

 

I kinda hate that Rockstar nerfed the tanks. Now it feels like military vehicles are pretty much highly decorated civilian ones. It would be nice if there were some actual incentive to steal or buy military vehicles(better armor&speed).

Halo 4 was a colossal piece of sh*t for a multitude of reasons, not listening to the playerbase was one of em.

Reach was the start of the downhill slide btw.

There just isn't that "Oh sh*t!" feel now whenever you run across a tank. All you have to do is just place a few Stickies or pull out a Grenade Launcher. And besides the Tank and maybe the Titan, military vehicles have very little armor that you would expect. It only takes about one explosion to take out majority of the "armored" vehicles in this game. Hence no one feeling a need to buy or use them, apart from roleplay or group transport. I just want to have a use for tanks other than PvE.

I think tank health should be reverted to their original state. Too many counters now, it is underpowered. Now there are special blips, homing launchers and a not stupid passive mode.

Never once used my Tank against players. I did use it as bait a few times (leave it out, snipe everyone who tries to take it), but no player has ever died to a shell from me. Used it only for cop rampages and some missions.

 

Haven't taken it out in months - it was pretty much a "because I can" purchase. No regrets.

 

Edit: Only truly useful Pegasus purchase has been the Buzzard - that thing has actually paid for itself by now.

Though it may sound funny, at this point, I'm not entirely against making the tank more, "tank-like" however, if it were to happen (which is rather not) there are some seeerious changes that would need to be made for how is used;

 

-there should be a cool down period to keep people from spamming Pegasus for tank spawns.

-if it's gonna have 2x as much health, it shouldn't have infinite ammo.

 

What balances the existence or use of any tool or weapon they add, is keeping from exaggerating it's advantages.

 

-the minigun is powerful and quick, but ammo is expensive, has poor mobility, and requires free aim skill to hit targets

-the jet may be powerful and fast as well, but it's handling requires skill to maneuver effectively and this vehicle cannot be bought, as well as there is a slight obstacle in grabbing one

 

The effectiveness of any weapon, no matter how powerful, should always timately be based on the users skill, not its inherent advantages.

 

 

TL;DR The problem with the tank is that it had too many advantages that allowed people to account for a lack of skill, while being unreasonably OP. And on top of that, some features like not having to pay insurance for blown PVs was just ridiculously unfair.

That's a good point about the jet. It's not as simple as "dive and shoot". Other factors such as speed and angle need to be taken into account as well. If you miss with the jet, you have to maneuver and line up with your target again. Unless the pilot is skilled, that's enough time for the target to make an escape. The average jet pilot probably won't phase the lobby.

 

With the tank, once he's got you with the cannons, you're screwed. Expect to be spawnkilled at least a few times.

Lol that's why I don't mind the jet the way it is! Might I still get annoyed by them? Of course lol. But the jet itself is pretty balanced imo, because the skill threshold is a little higher than people will addmitt.

 

Can't tell you how many times that I may have taken cover from what I assumed to be a threat, only for it to turn out to be a guy in a Lazer who's just trying not to hit a building or somethin LOL. I've seen a guy fly back and forth over my head in mirror park about 5 or 6 times before crashing into LS customs, all while I stood still... The guy sucked.

 

Pilots on the other hand, they are someone to be reckoned with >_>

 

At any rate, I believe that the tank having less armor does sort of set up a similar condition. In order to be more destructive wit your tank, you need to up ya footwork and ACTUALLY DODGE RPGs instead of just eating fifty of em and still going. Anybody not good enough to do that, well, they get what they get.

These days, as long as a tank has taken any damage, one suicide mission with 5 sticky-bombs on your car finishes them,

You dive and hold X and kill everyone on a huge f*cking radius unlike the tank which targets a selective circle aoe.

Cooldown on a tank cannon yet jets just hold the X button as long as they feel.

I sense no skill jet pilots here.

This most Jet pilots online...aren't that good. Really even before the stinger it was as easy as stay out of their line of fire, and hit them with the Minigun a bit is how I dealt with most of them.

The skill isn't in the technique or procedures, cause yeah, on paper, ain't that much to it. The real deal is in the execution. The flying alone is what takes enough skill. To be able to not just kill a random defenseless target by diving and shooting, but fly around, dodge sniper bullets and homing missiles, and spot and kill multile players (who have some sort of skill) while moving around the map. And can do so for longer than 2 seconds.

 

In your statements, you are undermining just how important it is just to have complete command over the Lazers movements, and do so with finesse or expertise or whatever. The same with cars.

 

Yeah SURE. Any dipstick with a super car can get from point A to B if you give him enough time, but how many of those folk can do so without hitting a single obstacle, or maneuvering around detours, or dodging fire, and making record time? Hm?

 

THIS my friend, is what separates DRIVERS, from just some dude in a car. Just as it is what separates PILOTS from people flying jets.

You are underminding the speed of the tank like how to catch a supper car going at 10 mph, or defenseless if people go on top of rooftops, or the fact that you literally have to aim the direction the person is in unlike hold x hover over in a line kill everything for how long your going at 500 mph.

I never grief in jets or tanks but I have used both and there's no contest, the skill required to succesfully jet grief far exceeds that needed to tank grief. By a long way.

 

If someone's in a place you can't get them in a tank then you just trundle down the road a bit. You say you only need to aim if you're in a tank but clearly you also need to aim in a jet, difference being its clearly harder in a jet.

I miss the proper tank battles when it used to escalate to more than two of you all trying to shoot the sh*t out of each other.

 

Now you can only take 3-4 hits from another tank and you're f*cked :(

LOL the comparison is UNREAL I tell you :lol:!!! Lemme see here tho;

 

The tank is waaaaaaaaaay easier to use considering that you can sit still and aim. And since it moves so slow, running into a tree isn't gonna get you blown up.

 

A jet on the other hand, you are constantly moving, and have to steadily aim while you guide the vehicle. One false turn or somethin and bam! You clip a building and die. And it's not just "oh let me call Pegasus for anoth and drive 2 Blocks to get it" either.

 

In a tank, the firing rate is slow, but you can spam the infinite canon cause you don't need to know your targets exact location to kill it with the blast radius. You can LITTERALLY just sit in one spot all day long while you for and try to fish out your target from their spot.

 

The jet may have splash damage and no pause between fire, but it has a narrow cone of fire that you need to be able to line up and alredy know where your target is before you dive to take the shot.

 

Tanks don't require users to blink, breathe and chew gum at the same time. If you wanted, driving, aiming and firing can be all separate thoughts. Where as with a jet, you again have to move constantly, and be aware of your surroundings, while you aim and shoot with brief windows for hitting a target. And mistakes aren't as forgiving.

 

What ever skill threshold there is for being effective in a jet, the one for being effective in a tank is much lower

How easy is for a jet to shoot something in the sky and land now compare that to a tank that shoots something on land and air o wait you can't kill sh*t 50 feet in the air. Deemed excuse useless and meaningless.

 

Comeback when you try and shoot a plane 50 ft in the air with a tank then you have a argument which takes more skill.
