Will chrome + Crew Colour ever be back?

It's removal was never addressed in the 1.17 patch notes. The same goes for the matte over crew colour and crew colour + pearlescent. Paint jobs are getting really stale now and Rockstar has the tendency to ruin the all the fun.

Yeah i agree with you man, good job there is a working duplication glitch, sadly that is your best bet to obtain colored chrome vehicles.

Yeah my favorite was pure gold plus crew color plus pearlescent. Rockstar said they'd leave in the glitches people liked that didn't hurt anything.

Yea I miss this myself. I would make my own Black Steel using Brushed Black Steel with Crew Black. Always looked good on my Mesa...

I really miss this ability as well. I have made some really nice Crew colours that are just dying for a decent pearlescent or being made into Matte, I've added it to my list of annoying game bugs. The thing is though its not completely programmed out of the game, when choosing a stock vehicle in a race and you set the colour to Crew it varies between Classic, Metallic and Matte so i use it to see what my custom colours would look like if the option was still there. This is one of my Crew colours, i would even be curious to see what it would be like as Crew Chrome.

I'll never understand why they just don't let us put pearl 'legitimately' on any paint we want. I've wasted so much gta$ on matte+pearl combos. I'm not even a car person. My fave is black matte with lime green pearl. Looks nice but the green jumps out when you enter areas of shade from the sun and looks even better. Green ain't even my favourite colour.

Well it was never a glitch, crew colour was always a tint to put over matt/solid/metal/chrome.

 

They just accidentally broke it one time and i don't think remember the old code.

This game is largely about cars. Heck, cars are even part of the title of this game. And a major aspect of cars is their appearance, which includes their paint.

 

What I'd like to see is an in-game means to specify an exact color, whether by a picker or by inputting RGB or hex codes. In other words, exactly like the crew color picker on the Social Club website. Except there would be no limitations, no colors locked out.

 

I would then like to be able to specify a finish for a paint layer, such as specifying a layer is metallic, or matte, or worn, etc. Either that, or have a "reflectivity" setting, maybe as a slider, that would range from true matte to extremely glossy.

 

Additionally, I'd like to be able to apply multiple layers of paint, and to specify an opacity rating for each layer. In other words, specify how much of the previous layer(s) can shine through the layer being applied. I'd like to be able to apply at least three layers, maybe more.

 

Each layer would cost money. Specifying a custom reflectivity setting, or an opacity setting, would cost money. A fully custom and unique paint job would cost a lot of money, maybe double, if not more, than the maximum it's possuble to spend on a simple paint job now.

 

Any chance to sell you something in the game is a chance for Rockstar to sell a cash card. The more opportunities there are to spend fake money in the game, the more opportunities there will be for Rockstar to sell you that fake money.

 

Additionally, the ability to create something that is truly beautiful to a player, and is much more likely to be unique to that player, will be something that keeps that player in the game. The more a player plays the game, the more money he'll spend in the game, which again translates into more opportunities for Rockstar to sell cash cards.

 

This feature I've described that would allow players to create truly unique custom paint jobs is truly win-win for everyone, including Rockstar, and I just can't understand why they not only don't it, but even go the opposite way and try to limit what you can do with the simple colors and finishes that are already in the game.

Stupid thing about it all, R* had all of this and more in the Midnight Club games following MC2.

And that R* San Diego (creators of the MC series) were actively a part of the design and build team for all the vehicles.

So there's really no excuse about them not to have above in the game, seemingly since they've done it in three other titles made by them...

DEAL WITH IT.It's good that you recognize that your opinion is different and unpopular, but it's sad that you don't recognize just how ignorant it is for you to say that you're glad Rockstar has removed something you don't like, but which you know many other people do.

 

This would be the same as if peanut butter was outlawed, and. Announced that I know lots of people like peanut butter, but I dont, so I'm glad it's been banned.

 

Look, I'm not telling you you're wrong to dislike chrome. That's you're opinion and you're welcome to it, and I'll fight anyone who tries to take away your right to have and express your opinion. But by the same token, I'm going to fight anyone who wants to force their opinion on everyone else. Make no mistake, by being glad a feature you don't like has been removed, that's exactly what you're doing.

 

Be a decent human being and allow other people to pick what THEY like. If you don't like what they pick, that's fine, and feel free to tell them their cars are ugly. But it's pretty damn rotten of you to like and support these features being removed. Just consider for a moment how you would feel if something you liked was removed from the game.

Here's the thing, I still have a few cars with coloured metal paint and the car renders them just fine. I also saw and awesome coloured chrome Zentorno the other day. The game has the code in place for this to work just fine. The only thing that happened was the front end menu got broken.

Why would its presence affect you anyway? Nobody is forcing you to put those colours on your cars so leave it be. Why does your opinion have to affect ours? So just because you think chrome + crew colour is ugly in your eyes there shouldn't be more option for colours? Get out.

If chrome can look good, and I'm sure colored chrome can too. I wish it'd come back so I can play it with some and see what's possible.

 

And from Rockstar's standpoint, it should come back. Chrome is 25/12k, Crew is 25/12k, some of the great pearls are almost 20k, it's a way for people to spend more money really.
