Suggestion For Improving Merryweather Mercenaries

MCMXCII

Recommended Posts

I just made this suggestion in the support forums on Rockstar's support forums and felt like sharing with everyone here to get y'alls opinion.

I haven't seen this suggested before so here's my suggestion for improving the Merryweather mercenaries.

Since Merryweather is a private army with access to army stuff, why not have the mercenaries go after a player with the equivalent vehicle of whatever the player is using when the mercenaries are sent after said player?
Let's say that a player is flying around in a jet and getting cheap kills on other players, like we almost always see in a public lobby. Getting fed up with the jet griefer, a player then calls Merryweather to send mercenaries after them. Of course, how the mercenaries are right now in the game, calling them would be useless against the jet griefer. However, if the mercenaries were to go after the player in a jet of their own, it would make the mercenaries more useful. Same thing if someone was using a buzzard or a tank. When mercenaries get sent after them, the mercenaries would show up with a tank or buzzard of their own to kill the player that had the mercenaries sent after them. Like normal of course, the mercenaries would spawn a few times in the appropriate vehicle to kill the player, that they were hired to kill, after the player killed them.

What do you guys think of my suggestion? Would you like to see c3tm6N4.png add this into GTA Online or is it a dumb idea and c3tm6N4.png should never add it in?

Or just get better.

The only time I call mercs is when someone wants a Mesa.

I see the point with jet griefers, although I normally just avoid them or in extremes find new session.

Then they'll have to play with themselves, which I suspect jet griefers are well practiced in!

I play well enough that I don't get "Griefed" lol, but to address what you sayin

I think if they made the goons as tough and as numerous as the ones in the office during "Docks to Stock", with their high accuracy and armor, instead of watered down versions of the mission version, they would be worth paying for.

I'll agree with the OP's idea.

Or just get better.

If you don't use mercenaries, your opinion of how they should function is irrelevant. Unless you don't use them because you don't like how they function now, but I doubt that's the case, since you offered no alternative suggestion.

"Get better" is not the answer to everything in this game. In reality, "get better" means use all the tools available to you to their maximum potential. I mean seriously, if you had been in charge of the Army when the machine gun was invented, would you have just said to the designer, "Nah thanks, brah, my soldiers just need to get better with their single-shot rifles"? What the f*ck do you think "get better" means? It sure as sh*t doesn't mean to limit yourself. No matter how good you are without any additional tools, if you start using those tools, you'll be better than you ever could've been without them.

How much will the service cost?

It shouldn't cost any more than it does now. Edited by JRebbert512

I laugh when people call mercenaries on me. Free RP and it costs them money.

If someone's in a tank and going around killing people,

  1. Press "Start" or "Options" (on ps4)
  2. Navigate to the "Online" tab and then down to "Find New Session"
  3. Press X on Playstation or A on Xbox

Another option is,

  1. Press "Start" or "Options" (on ps4)
  2. Navigate to the "Online" tab and then "Leave GTA Online"
  3. Once back in singleplayer follow step 1
  4. Navigate to the "Online" tab and then "Play GTA Online"
  5. Select "Invite Only Lobby" and press X on Playstation or A on Xbox

and if the griefer is in a tank, they should show up in a tank and challenge the griefer, i've long since learned to never mess with tank griefers, i just stay away from them, i can't afford the insurance bill.

Yes, the mercs arriving in a suitable vehicle sounds a good idea. My problem with them, and the reason I don't use mercs much anymore, is the announcement that they are coming. Kind of ruins the whole thing.

I'll just be content if they stop claiming credit/my money if the target dies of his own accord(falling down a ladder, gets run over, slipped on a banana peel).

Bunch of clowns.

Oh and YES to OP's suggestion.

That is an option, yes but I feel that is more of a last resort. I'd much rather try to take on the griefer with any means necessary until one of us gives up.

Yeah it does lol but I doubt R* would remove the announcement for them. Hell, they added an announcement for when someone goes off radar.

First of all, it only costs them money if you die. Personally, sometimes I almost want to just let them kill me, just so it WILL cost them money.

Secondly, as for your two options of how to handle the situation... Not everyone is a coward who runs away. Some people like to face their problems and deal with them.

Amazing, OP made a genuine suggestion regarding a subject that I've seem some people around bitch about. How weak and useless the mercenaries are. Yet when OP politely asks for opinions regarding said subject, people in here waste no time to shut him off and say "blah blah blah, change session, get better, beat the game's lag to snipe griefer in the head". Talk about how good of a community is this forum...

Regarding the suggestion, it's great! Provided it would cost more to bring a jet from the fort.

Additionally tanks should be left out since players could steal then and wreak havoc around without needing to buy the tank at all. Buzzards should be to handle then with AI's impeccable accuracy while firing missiles

ha it's fine. I welcome both the negative and positive replies to my topic. Most of the replies have been in the positive so far. So no worries but I appreciate it.

It's true what you say about the tanks. I wasn't thinking about that possibility when I came up with this idea. It's the morning and I haven't had much coffee so my brain isn't at it's full power yet. Now that I think more about it, the tanks are pretty dumbed down already. It doesn't take much to destroy one on your own unless R* adjust the tank again IF R* decides to add my idea into GTAO.

Which is likely they won't, R* devs seems to work on some kind of averted logic.

They receive feedback from players regarding bugs needing fixes, suggestions to improve gameplay, etc...

Yet they ignore the GOOD ideas, like yours, and the don't fix annoying bugs that are exploited 24/7 like wall breaches.

The way to improve them is that they keep on trying to kill you until you leave the lobby, the price should be around 50k

ha if R* added that into the game, people would exploit it as a way to level up fast.

It sounds good, a little bit complex, but good. A simple solution, increase the accuracy and toughness like merryweather on teaser trailer or docks to stock missions, and give them the insane accuracy of the professionals when in a vehicle and you've got something good

Great idea...atleast that griefer shoud have to land and then get up in the air again after being killed :)

not bad but i'd rather have them make the airstrikes practical and functional.

make them work like the bounties or the mercs. call, select the target from the players list and have merryweather carpetbomb the area where the player is.

That would be good too. I rarely use the airstrike unless theirs a massive pileup of cars especially during a police shootout.

Well if you're going to face your problems, don't be a bitch and call Merryweather.

c*nts like you are the people who constantly have double standards and complain about something when it's not going your way, and support the same thing when it is going your way.

I agree. Maybe if you could pay more for better mercs.

Like paying twice as much gives you mercs that continue to chase and kill the player a set number of times, drive more aggressively, send buzzards and rhinos, etc.

Also please fix the fact that ANY kill counts as a "Victory" for the mercs. You can literally hit the suicide option once mercs are hired to waste the guy who hired them's cash.

CrysisAverted

I think they should not f*cking alert you when being targeted

I think they should use miniguns and rpgs

They fail at killing the guy, the guy trips and falls off a cliff and they claim they were responsible.

Yeah. They do come very poorly armed. We all have a homing missile launcher. AmmuNation sells them. Mercs should have them.

Edit: But not be able to drop them.

I wish the Airstrike was Aimbot Based...Like When i got steal a jet, an AI spawns out of Nowhere and try's to shoot me down. Very Annoying but for 8k it would be worth the spending the money..
