SausageInACan
Ever since I built my PC I haven't had an anti-virus installed. I have decided that I should get one since I had a little incident earlier that took hours to fix. Now I am wondering, what is the best anti-virus that can easily be used? I a, also willing to pay for one. I wouldn't really feel safe with a free one. I may be wrong and some of them be good, but I would rather stick with a paid software. The only softwares I have come across are Norton, and McAfee. TJGM
If you're buying one, ESET is probably the best one to pay for and it has the least false positives. If you want a free one, I'd say just go with Microsoft Security Essentials, although if you're on Windows 8.1 you already have this and it's just called Windows Defender. sivispacem
Pay- ESET, Kaspersky or BitDefender for the usual common pay AVs. Webroot if you want a really light client and cloud based signature/anomaly detection. Free- Avast is probably the best balance of detection and performance. AVG manages marginally higher detections but has a much larger performance impact IME.
