El Dildo
so we just got back from seeing Jim Norton perform downtown @ Comedy Works, Denver. http://www.westword.com/arts/jim-norton-on-media-hypocrisy-his-new-special-and-his-transgender-co-host-6621872 Β seriously awesome show. little Jimmy is hilarious but the 2 comics who opened for him I had never heard of, and the first guy really killed the room. great warm-up job. and Norton brought the house down with his Cosby rape bits at the end. I bought an American Degenerate tshirt after the show and got to shake Jim's hand. almost forgot how great that room is. Comedy Works can seat over 100 people but it's still that old fashioned basement cellar feeling with the low ceilings right beneath the main bar. Β there's also a two-item minimum inside the showroom. the drinks aren't overpriced though by any means. Star-Lord and Mister Pink

Bartleby
Since pretty much all of the talk has been about favorite comedians of all time (and most of the good ones are taken), here is "Norman Rockwell Is Bleeding" by Christopher Titus, one of my favorite stand-up shows I've seen. Fireman
Fons Jansen, a dutch cabaretier which has been dead for a few decades, but his humor is timeless. Though his first show is too hard to understand for me (jokes about the church are hard when you've never heard the terms before), all his later shows have been fantastic and consistent. Great thought-provoking songs, religious and political criticism and timeless jokes. It's in Dutch, so you probably won't like it and there is barely any video footage; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sonlP1jBlzs Β That's his 2nd show, still quite religious but nothing people wouldn't understand. Β I'm also quite a fan of Hans Teeuwen, but it kind of depends on his shows wether I find it funny or not, he has actually done something in English, so you can check that out: Β Β Edited May 2, 2015 by Fireman

X S
I'm gonna have to go with Norm McDonald, the comedian's comedian. So utterly and ridiculously bad that he's genius. I love how insulted the entire room of media elite and establishment politicians at the White House Correspondence dinner with his sh*t-tier jokes in 1997. The best part was that he was probably the only one laughing at his own jokes. Comedy gold. Star-Lord
^ Eddie, was a comedic beast in his prime, too bad he ditched stand up for acting. I'd should've added him to the list as a favorite as well. Truly iconic. Β This comedian might be a little underated, but he's also one of my favs. Mainly, for the following act. Otter
I cast a pretty wide net; a lot of my favorites include the bigger-than-life showfolks like Carlin - but I'm also a real sucker for one liners. Mitch Hedburg, Neil Hamburger, Steven Wright, Emo Phillips, Nick Thune... it's an interestingly pure take on the form.
