It's updates not dlc. I wish people would learn the difference. Also where is everyone getting their info from? How do cash cards support these free updates? Also I'd rather pay for a dlc pack that contains great content, not this sh*t we get.

Because that's still technically cheating and would ruin the game. You can't just have hackers in GTA Online (Or any game for that matter) setting billion counter-fit dollar bounties on people, because everyone will get lazy and will not want to do anything. Not to mention, it goes against Xbox Live's and PSN's Code of Conduct. So stop getting furious because Rockstar did their jobs.

You really needed to bump this? So cash cards are optional, duh no sh*t. But wanna see something funny, deposit all of your money and go buy some ecola. Tell me what shows up when you do do that How come money glitches get patched faster then god mode glitches? How come with each update the content is getting more expensive? How come with the heist update we can no longer test vehicles out before we buy them? How come the new rebel with the gun on it is complete sh*t but it's almost a million dollars? How come the content that was in the beach bum update isn't free no more? And don't say so we can sell the bifta. People that got the bifta for free still can't sell it.

It's all to make money off of the people that don't want to play to buy things. It's easier to buy an over priced cash card. Also do you know how much content was in the coding before the free updates, that were released in these updates? Almost all of these "free" updates were in the works before the game was even released. If you think cash cards are the reason why we get free updates, thats pretty sad. I'll take a great DLC filled with content that I actually want. So far all these free updates have been filled with sh*t.

Also how did the billion dollar days "ruin" the game. That was better times honestly. People actually helped one another out. I modded so many cars for randoms to help them buy things. You'd also be surprised how many people still have their money from then. This is just a beta test for cash cards to see how far they can go with them. I wouldn't be shocked if they start "buy this cash card and get this exclusive content".

Just for putting shark cards in a game for people who are having trouble making money in GTA Online. Besides there's Heist now, they actually help you make money. Even before they had missions that payed you 10,000-25,000. So therefore you can't convince me or anyone with a brain that Rockstar Cash Cards, OK? I never said, Buying cash cards, helps Rockstar give the game more updates. I know they have money blow. As for yoy thinking that updates are filled with sh*t, I can't really agree with you there at all. As much as the cool stuff we were given for free, ithe idea fills stupid. I don't know much game companies that'll do all this for us.

We're talking about this because cash card threads get locked and then people bring it up months later. If the mods would at least sticky and/or sticky and create the official cash card thread we wouldn't deal with these threads. Also, this isn't an MMO, it's the multiplayer mode of GTA V. There's no threat of them charging a monthly fee.

There is no cash card conspiracy, they aren't trying to force you to buy them, they are simply just clueless morons who didn't have a beta to balance/optimize the game and don't test things before implementing them. They never work as intended and always have to be fixed but they never fix it right. They can't even get the netcode to work correctly. Dont you think that would be number one priority if they wanted people to buy cash cards? Hard to spend money when you're staring at the loading screen all day! Lol

the biggest problem with the cash cards is that the time it took to get money pre heists was rediculous, and the price on them was way higher than they shoulda been. 100 usd, 8million gta? thats a bit. . .much isnt it? if im paying 100 dollars on top of th purchase price of the game i better be able to buy everything the game came with on release with the cash i get and fully mod it all. 8m simply. . .doesnt do that.

It is an MMO, and before GtaOnline was released Rockstar stated in a press release that they evaluated two models for bringing in revenue to fund GtaOnline's maintenance and new content.

One option was a monthly fee for players that wished to play GtaOnline. The second model was through micro transactions for in-game currency.

Rockstar stated they opted for the later because it provided a win-win situation. The online community as a whole would not have to pay a mandatory monthly enrollment like other MMOs such as WOW, and even Elder Scrolls Online is now abandoning monthly fees, for they felt it would deter a decent percentage of players from participating.

Moreover, Rockstar elaborated that by selecting a micro transaction model they could generate funds required to propel GtaOnline and offer gamers the choice to play GtaOnline if they wish to without having to buy anything unless they choose too.

I don't get it, first of all, The cash cards are 100% OPTIONAL and at no point are forced upon you, the only time they're ever mentioned In-game is when you haven't got enough money to buy something or a rare chance on appearing on a loading screen.

R*'s only way of profiting off GTAO is cash cards, it is THEIR game and they deserve to actually make money off of it, they also give us FREE DLC, yes some of the content within a few DLC's are crap, but it's way better than having to buy them.

I have a feeling the only people complaining about them just want a reason to complain about the game or they're too lazy to play the game themselves and earn money.

To mods: If there's another thread like this, please send a link, and if it's in the wrong section of GTAO then move it.

I'll break your points further so that people will know the REAL difference. LuisNiko did made a great point but not everybody will understand what they said.

First thing is first, buy GTA4. Then download (or buy) one of the DLC's (TBOGT for example). Now, can you play GTA IV without starting TBOGT?

Now, try playing GTAO with The Heists Update for example.

DLC's are optional, and you can play a game without them. UPDATES on the other hand, you can't.

Am I the only one here who HATE having too many millions?

I only got 3 millions and something (3.5?), which means I'm a "peasant" compared to the others here, yet I have no problem buying stuff.

BTW you CAN get the vehicles from this update in SP by using the Save Editor. There's no such thing as "inaccessible" with that thing, except for the C/SE goods. You can even get the Cargo Plane that way.

....But when a new "DLC" comes to GTAV, when you need to UPDATE the game (when the screen stats that you need to UPDATE your game) what does it say?

Neither the developers nor I are wrong, it's people that classify DLC incorrectly, like yourself, who are wrong.

The Hipster Update is an update and a DLC simultaneously, for it is mandatory to download in order to play but also adds new content and features to the title.

Why is this even a debate? It's simple logic.

A "DLC" is a thing that you can download to your game as an add-on.

An "Update" is something that you NEED to download in order to play. For example, you CAN play GTA4 without downloading TLAD, but you CAN'T play GTAV/O without this update for example.

Hell even when you're opted to play this game when something come, the screen tells that your game (or app) is out-of-date, and that you need to download the UPDATE in order to make your game up-to-date.

It DO work on both sides (like you just said, a DLC in an update), but those people who keep arguing that the stuff that we get is a DLC no matter what are the ones I'm referring to.

The major Updates like Flight School, Heists, and I'm Not a Hipster are DLCs.

Updates that correct game mechanics, glitches, etc are simply game repairs, aka a patch.

The term DLC is not defined by wether or not a user must download the content or not, but simply that the content is downloaded by the user and that it makes additions to the game that did not originally exist.

Something as simple as a new firearm, vehicle, or hairstyle is DLC. Likewise, content as grand as the Heists or new Content Creator Modes are also DLC.

Why do people have to encapsulate the acronym DLC into such a finite concept that it has to be paid for and optional? And that an update can't be a DLC?

I agree that cash cards are not in correlation to number of updates, but rather it's one of two ways a company makes after-sale profit.

Two common methods: paid DLC, or money-to-money microtransactions. Since I sure as hell am not paying real cash for virtual anything, I agree with the current method of after-sale profit.

This is based on my experience, of course. Do I buy discs? Yes, all the time. Why do I hate microtransactions?

I "suck at shooting" because the enemy accuracy in this game is a joke (NEWS FLASH: I can Free Aim very well in this game, therefore, I can aim well thank you),

I "have no friends" because none of them owns this game OR play on Xbox (RL) or don't live anywhere close to my timezone (Internet-friends, which is true - when my FL was full none of my friends was Online because they lived far away from my timezone),

I'm "a peasant" because I play on consoles mostly (hey sultanretard, I'll tell you something: #MULTI-PLATFORMMASTERRACE), etc.

Seruously, it's preference. This game type uses money-to-money, so money-to-money policies are enforced. I can tolerate it.

I mean, sometimes paid DLC goes too far, too. You know Evolve? You know how much DLC is? Ridiculous.
