Taxi Cabs in Online

Nobody would use them as you cannot ''trip skip'' online, basically teleporting across the map.

I think I remember taxi been on street but I think update these days changed up a lot.

 

You can still call for Downtown Taxi on your in-game phone as it's same said for Online mode. I use it sometimes for long ride even for spare car to use.

 

My biggest wish that Rockstar should have brought Zebra Taxi from Vice City.

I love the Taxi with the PS4/XB1 passive mode makes it so you can't be killed you throw a sticky inside the car and go around and try and pick up other players and as you are driving around take passive mode off and get on the highway get up to speed and jump out and set off the sticky before the other player realizes what you've done.

 

The reactions are awesome and i have yet to hear one person be mad they all though it was funny.

Taxi Cabs have been a staple of GTA for years. The venerable Yellow Car has been a constant presence not only on our streets but in our hearts. Yes it had middle of the road performance and basic looks, but I would argue it was the baseline that every car was compared against. It has even actually served its purpose as a taxi since Vice City. I understand you CAN drive a taxi in online by calling the cab company, but why do they no longer roam our streets?

 

The true tragedy is that the taxi missions are gone. I can think of no better way to have fun in free roam than by driving point to point for cash. Does anyone else pine for the days when we could ferry our patrons around the city at breakneck speeds for pocket change?

I agree. Seems like a simple add to the game that would generate small income and simultaneously add a new feature to the game. do you really need to quote the op when your the second post.

I once tried Role playing a Taxi man in Online. Didn't work out...First customer blew my brains out.

 

This is why we can't have nice things.

 

You can get the taxi online, but you can't store one in your garage... same old problem with almost every vehicle players could use for role-play. I have a Vapid Stainer in yellow i've made to look like a taxi, but if I want to actually try to use it I have no choice but to use Passive Mode, or else i'll be shot to pieces by other players.

 

It's harder to convince people in FR that you're friendly than hostile. So much paranoia and suspicion - makes it almost pointless to have a Free Roam. It should just be renamed Free Deathmatch.

Exactly. Most companies are holding this stuff back and then Making us pay for it. Rockstar is doing it perfectly so we don't get sick and tired of the game right away. They are dishing it out to us over a period of time to keep it intersted

Exactly. Most companies are holding this stuff back and then Making us pay for it. Rockstar is doing it perfectly so we don't get sick and tired of the game right away. They are dishing it out to us over a period of time to keep it interested

 

 

 

I was speaking sarcastically about it being free. Who cares how they're dishing it out its all horse sh*t or should've been there from the start at the end of the day. This game hasn't had a unique update since Last man standing, and that was last September!! And that update was poo poo.

It's not just the taxi missions I miss, I also miss the ambulance, fire and vigilante missions.

 

Me too, it was ridiculously poor judgement to remove those features from the series.

Tragedy? Maybe for you and a few others, Me on the other hand I'm glad Taxis are gone, I've had a beef with taxis since the asshole taxis on NFS Underground 2 started cutting me off and crashing into me, knowing how the NPCs drive in GTA Online, it'd be Underground 2 all over again. I do however miss blowing them up, like I did on GTAIV.

We can't because of Shark Cards.

 

First off let me write this..... about 0.01% of people would actually be able to complete a cab fare.... the rest of the 99.9% would get killed, blown up, etc etc.... there is no way this could work in an open lobby free roam. So where do Shark Cards come into play? Well, if Shark Cards didn't exist, than R* would have allowed us to have settings for free roam (like GTA IV) were you could turn killing off or even have permanent ghost cars or something.....

Anyone has tried to call a cab while doing Rooftop Crumble? Always trying to call Merryweather to pick you up is too expensive for a hardworking grinder like me.

My buddy and I made it a challenge to call a cab to Paleto Bay and have it take us to LSX... We don't get very far but one day we'll make it. Other than that i don't really use the taxi cab apart from the earlier days of Online where if you died near the military base you would spawn in the swamp and if "Johnny on the spot" was being a sh*thead the taxi was you ticket out of there

It is strange because with some patch updates Taxi's return to GTA online and with others seem to disappear. They need to address this and bring them back fully to GTA online because like the OP I also enjoy just grabbing a cab for is middle of the road performance and collision strength.

It's exactly like any other vehicle, invisible. it catches peoples' attention though. So u may get some ppl tryin to blow it up or even jump in the vehicle.

plus even if you tell the driver to hurry they still do about 35 mph on the freeway (they're so freaking slow)!

They comings in handy when Vestra engines cut out and i'll land @ oppisite end of plane spawn point of sandy shores air strip. Call taxi, call pegasus for new Vestra, cap driver, drive to Vestra...bonus different color Vestra each rinse repeat.

After an early update taxis did spawn online....then the next update removed them

 

Before any updates (not counting the messy online launch fixes), Dozers spawned at the airport and Cypress Flats area online. Only way to spawn them now is cargobob one from up north the map, drop it near the spawn locations and drive it until they spawn in the parking areas they used to be.

I don't think you can Cargobob the dozers anymore. Or at least not PS4? I must have spent 5 minutes rubbing my limp hook all over that things dirty roof but no matter what I tried, I just couldn't get it up.

Can't lift the Dump anymore too.

 

Is this true? If so then another example of how Rockstar North doesn't allow fun in their games.

I remember that we got NPC taxis roaming streets in GTA Online with a patch last year, but it was removed some patches later:
