Taxi Cabs in Online

Taxi Cabs have been a staple of GTA for years. The venerable Yellow Car has been a constant presence not only on our streets but in our hearts. Yes it had middle of the road performance and basic looks, but I would argue it was the baseline that every car was compared against. It has even actually served its purpose as a taxi since Vice City. I understand you CAN drive a taxi in online by calling the cab company, but why do they no longer roam our streets?

 

The true tragedy is that the taxi missions are gone. I can think of no better way to have fun in free roam than by driving point to point for cash. Does anyone else pine for the days when we could ferry our patrons around the city at breakneck speeds for pocket change?

I agree. Seems like a simple add to the game that would generate small income and simultaneously add a new feature to the game.

I'd like for them to have taxis spawn in traffic and give us the ability to rob them. Just having stores to rob gets old kinda quick and it would be nice to have another option to rob in free mode for a little cash.

After an early update taxis did spawn online....then the next update removed them :(

 

Before any updates (not counting the messy online launch fixes), Dozers spawned at the airport and Cypress Flats area online. Only way to spawn them now is cargobob one from up north the map, drop it near the spawn locations and drive it until they spawn in the parking areas they used to be.

I don't think you can Cargobob the dozers anymore. Or at least not PS4? I must have spent 5 minutes rubbing my limp hook all over that things dirty roof but no matter what I tried, I just couldn't get it up.

Can't lift the Dump anymore too.

Well that's annoying. Why the hell did they change the cargobob for next gen? Takes forever to drive a dozer down the map. You can force spawn four by the docks near that factory.

 

Puts me off saving for next gen with all these complaints about passive and things being needlessly changed.

Sad as I can be, I used to love doin the bus trips on Vice City. I think small mini games like the vigilante missions could be significantly beneficial. Extra small money and wouldn't it be fun jus to annoy someone saving an AI life. Or killing someone before someone else helps them lol.

Although taxi cab missions may be missing from online play,you can always call for one,try dialing 555-5555 next time your online. (Just incase you didn't know.)

Ah was gonna say I swear I remember them being there at one point. I was like, sweet they added taxis. And then they disappeared :( must have broken something in the process of adding them. Hopefully they will make a return soon!

Yeah they should add things to freeroam that actually makes people cooperate instead of killing each other. Gang attacks are boring. Like the lobby is randomly split in half. One side has to kill a target, the other has to get the target to a safehouse.

 

Actually I wish I could use a bus stop instead of taxis.

And does this work on missions? Would be nice to get a cab fare to those jobs on Paleto, desert.. Will arrive a bit late but i can blame the new payout system.

I forget exactly when, (I think around the time of the Independence Day update) but for a little while there, taxis actually did spawn online like they do in story mode. (ie: driving around without having to call for one)

 

Of course, there was nothing more to it than that, but I don't know why they didn't do this from the start... much less have them for a short time then take them out.

Do firetruck and taxi missions in the middle of the warzone called freeroam? Do you want to drive a sticky bomb magnet in the middle of those KD obsessed kiddies?

 

Story mode ok, but online?

Earlier tonight my vehicle got impounded n there was "Attackers" around my apt in Eclipse so I went off radar n got in taxi to police pound. I use them constantly in storymode but thats 1st time ever in gtao

That number on the PS4 is an unknown with a busy signal.
