New "Coveted" and Police 'copters

Played the new version of Coveted for the first time last night. More bad guys, more stuff to hide behind, different location for the container, and different requirements from way back when everyone spammed the crap out of it. More difficult, but still fun.

Only problem was trying to deliver the crate to the old location and realizing the delivery site was MUCH further away and that there were a pair of Police 'copters following me. Even with a pair of crewmates in the doorways with heavy machine guns, these cops were making it damned difficult to get a shot at them - they stuck to the right side, above my 'copter, forcing me to swing right to let my gunners take their shots. Best tactical flying I have ever seen Police copters use in GTA... MAJOR PAIN, since the destination was over the city and we were under fire the entire way. Our 'copter was smoking (not quite flame-out) by the time I managed to drop the container on-site.

Much more difficult, but much more fun as a result!

Has anyone tried some of the old "spammy" missions to see how they work now? The approval rating for the new Coveted is around 5% (which was hysterical), probably because it is much more difficult, but that is what made it fun when we pulled it off!

The approval rating is 5% because they crapped on the mission. Not saying it was a great mission before, but it certainly wasn't improved.

The payout was horrible, I have to admit. All that ammo used fighting for the container sorta made the crappy pay not worth it.

Refuse to play it the new version ever.

I perfected the two and half minute run on the old mission, It's just dumb now

I don't have problem with the changes they made. If you stay along the coast and then follow the freeway to the destination, staying as low and going as fast as possible, the heli will barely catch up by the time you drop the container.

It sucks that the payout is less and it takes longer than the old version but it's just as easy and still a decent mission imo.

They changed it again? When did they add a second helicopter? I had a great way of doing it before. If you fly for maybe 3 seconds away from the coast over the water, and then as fast as you can, staying over the water most of the way, the chopper will never catch up.

Even if you make a straight line for the the marker you should make it there fine. You'll be smoking and sputtering but you'll make it. But an almost guaranteed way you will fail is to try to maneuver your helicopter to fight the others.

Currently on ps3:

After reading this i played Coveted solo,on hard, and invite only. I found the mission plays the same since the last change many months ago. That was when the drop off point was moved and the chase helicopter was added along with more enemies to clear. Also that last change was,i think, before the big mission pay change. Back when R* was wagging war on grinding and Coveted was one of the best missions to grind.

In my recent play of Coveted i still only had one chase helicopter and the crate delivery strategy posted above still works. Unfortunatly the glitch where the gargobob pilot hovers for several minutes before landing is also still the same. Hovering at 8-10 feet off the the ground the pilot can not be shot and only rarely can be pulled from the cockpit by pressing V.

Just have at least one person on the ground and the Cargobob stay nearby after picking up the container. Because we have Stinger Missiles now.

It's still super easy just takes longer. The helicopters can't really hurt you as long as you stay along the coast and keep your speed up. I think I've only once had a police chopper shoot the bob down and that's probably cause it was pretty beat up to begin with trying to get the container.

Nothing hard about it. One player gets a Attack chopper and clears the container, other player gets Bob and grabs container, attack chopper takes out cop choppers, player delivers....

There are no "hard" missions in GTA O. We have more than enough weapons to counter with superiority anything the AI can throw at us.

Ain't difficult by a longshot. It's at 5% because Rockstar's idea of 'fixing' a mission from grinding is to completely break a mission. Coveted wasn't exactly a masterpiece, but if paid well for easy money. Now it's a waste of ammo and, depending on the ammo you used, barely keeps you in the black in terms of ammo use/mission payout. There's plenty of better missions to grind than Coveted now.

Just pick up the container and drop it back down to activate the chopper, jump out and snipe the chopper and deliver the container.

Skirt the shoreline at low altitude and the choppers don't see you till it's too late for them. Or have a player take a boat to an island and just shoot down the birds as they chase your pilot partner. Fun mission. I played the old one a ton of times, this one is more challenging.
