Random crew invitations.

What is the deal with them? I'm always getting invitations to random crews, and I have no idea why. Usually I'm minding my own business when a text pops up telling me I have an invite to some random (Usually with a ridiculous name) crew that I have no desire to join. It's not like I'm an outstanding player or anything like that, in fact I'd consider myself mediocre in skills compared to other GTA Online players. The only differences between me and any other random player is that I'm not a troll and my character doesn't wear stupid clothing or drive a generic supercar.

 

Anybody else get this?

It's people trying to get other people to join their crew. Most of the time it is exactly as you said, random. Don't think too hard about it.

Seems counterproductive inviting randoms to your crew. Isn't the whole point of the crew system to have reliable people who you can hold some small level of trust that they wont go out of their way to f*ck up the mission?

I can understand that. But I'm a level 23 with a 0.97 kill/death ratio.

It's just random people who think size (of the crew) matters, that's why. Or perhaps the owner is lonely and wants someone to play with?

I get random crew invites all the time. But I don't flag up.. I'm crewless. I run with one other. I'm pretty sure they're just mass recruiting, trying to get heavy numbers in their ranks though. That's my guess..

Why? I don't own ANY cars and I do perfectly fine in free roam battles on my streetbike... why does everyone depend on* Supers?

that being said, i in fact have joined a couple of crews on few ocasions that wanted me in because of specific reasons

those reasons were:

being a high level

being kind

driving super cars(i dunno what the deal is with that )

playing with a girl character XD

No cars. Wow. I'm a confirmed bike nut but not that hardcore. I'm impressed!

 

I think everybody gets these random crew invitations. I find it odd that it doesn't tell you which player made the invite. If that information was given you could interact with the player a bit to confirm he's not a douche.

In free roam there is a speed cap, supers are not special and make no difference unless you're in a race, which in that case consists of nothing but supers or no supers at all.

No more often than when I have owned super cars in the past. I tend to avoid people in free-roam most of the time. Plus while I am crap at PVP, I am a very competant driver. I like my Buccaneer. Does what I need it to do and looks great.

I drive primarily sedans and compacts, and I don't get owned in freeroam very much. Super drivers tend to slam into cars and buildings while chasing you so it's not too hard to get away.

 

I made fun of a zentorno driver who I outran in my panto when he was trying to sticky me. He got so mad it was hysterical

I have received random invites before, just ignore them, the last one I received was for some silly swag crew.

 

Oh and supercars in free roam are useless, its not the car, but the driver that makes the difference, outsmarted enough on my fagio.

no , they usually kill players around either making other players afraid to them ( example is lui calibre , alexsniperbullet ) or just getting kills for K/D / tints

 

however , if that expert made newbie acc , i can't tell difference they're hard or easy to beat

I've been getting these on next gen. And besides, the last random crew I joined died of later on. The only crews I'm joining is the ones here. Players are more active.

I've had one genuine one since online became live. Some guy sent me an invite but also sent me a PM on the Social Club. He was complimentary about my playing style and said he liked my photos and that he was extending an invite to his "mature players" crew. It was very enticing, but they had requirements I couldn't fulfil.

I usually get some while I'm in my female form as soon as I get in a lobby bam invite (I'm not in a crew).In my male form I get little to no invites,Their where this guys asking me to join because my rank (they where talking about it "he's rank [insert rank]") I had my mic off but I kept walking away.

OP I'd describe myself the same way, not a great player and fairly low ranked and I get random crew invites often. It's like others have said someone wanting to have a crew with big numbers without caring who they get.

High ranks most likely crew adjusted. May be why low ranks are sent crew invites. Get experience with a new crew seems logical. If you get invites, then you have many choices to choose from as well.

I just found out not long ago, you can join many crews. I'm not sure if there's a limit or not.

When I was ranked around 18 or 19 I joined a couple of random crews. One of them I flat out didn't like the people, the others I could never find crew members on when I was on. I believe you can be in 4-5 crews. The best way to find a crew is this forum. I found a great crew after making a free agent post. Random crews are a roll of the dice. You can find a good one, but don't count on the first random invite to be gold.
