Compact Appreciation

Got a Prairie for my 2nd character's starting car - still got in, still drive it regularly, because it's a fun, sleek little thing:




Of course, that was stock - it's had a bit of a makeover since those early days...




Perfect hypothetical scenario? R* eventually adds a 'Dinka Flash' (as a SA reference), or 'Blista Classic', based on this:

Compacts is actually a really fun race class. I only have one photo right now, but I'll customize the other Compacts tonight and photograph them.

 

 

I love the Rhapsody, but it should have had a V8 sound. It clearly has a V8 engine (popular swap amoung drag racers to Pacers). I think they gave it a generic sound because then thats the only Compact anyone would want.

 

I imagine someone will mod it on PC to sound like a Dominator.

On my wishlist is a Golf and your pic makes me want it even more.

The problem with appreciating compacts is that The Panto is so vastly superior to the other compacts that the other compacts don't get any attention relatively speaking

 

It gets more attention because people have no taste.

The rhapsody and blista crush it in a race and also don't look sh*t...join a racing crew and all you will see is rhapsody and blistas with the occasional issi...never pantos

I see pantos in freeroam with horrendous paintjobs making them even uglier being driven by trolls and that's it.

Worst car in the game id rather drive a Regina or dare I say it the dreaded dilettante.

I have a rhapsody and blista OT and will post pics shortly.

also, the panto is the one and only car i have because its so ridiculous

i also gave mine a pink pearlscent and a goddamn roofrack stuffed with random stuff like a spare wheel, that somehow makes for better traction ingame

I would have appreciated that. But no apparently rockstar thought we were lacking in the sports class. Clearly needed more in that category.

I present the Yugo which had a presence in the US for a short while and is very popular modding scene today.... They are horrible cars stock, but are made into just about anything today, from rat rods to drag cars, mounting just the bodyshell to any engine the owner can find....

dude.. loong ago when I was a kid, my grandfather took me to a lot downtown that had a small car show going on and a Isetta was there. I thought it was the coolest car I have ever seen! Rockstar needs to add that car to the game. I would buy it in a heartbeat!

Across 2 characters I only have 2 compacts. The Rhapsody and the Prairie. The rest are just boring, the Issi sucks the Blista is decent, but boring and has no spoiler, and the Dilletente is P4P the worst car in the game.. I MIGHT get a Panto when I fill out the rest of my garages.

 

I do have a Futo and a Blista Compact though which I still consider compacts over sports cars. They are fun little rides.

i've raced against nooo people before and they had rhapsodies and blistas...broughy himself tested them all and said the rhapsody is faster as well...gta race crew people also i never see panto's

I think you don't see a lot of them because they aren't cars that people typically want. Most compacts and hatchbacks are purchased by people who just want something to drive to work because it's cheap and gets good gas mileage. Not many people aspire to own a compact car.

 

Personally, the only one I have is the Panto, and I only have it because it's fun to drive places where cars aren't meant to go, and it's good enough to use for racing. I have it done up in a stupid looking "sporty" style because I find it funny in a "aww look at that dopey little POS, it thinks it's a race car!" kind of way.

Two Rhapsodies... that's all I got as far as compacts go. (I've always liked AMC Pacers... and Gremlins too)
Although, before the Rhapsody came out, I had a Dilletante in one of my garages... that was my favorite compact originally. It was fun to do races with it imagining I was Larry David.




Kept the stock wheels on both because it's one of only two cars in the entire game that has thin-whitewalls.

(the other being the clown van, of all things... the Emperor used to have them in IV) A fact that pisses me off... there's a sh*tload of cars in the game that this tire type would suit perfectly. The thick lowrider whitewalls are great, but there's only a handful of cars that I think they really look good on... they're too much of a pre-60's thing. Whereas thin whitewalls (or whiteline or whatever) tires were very common well into the 90's.

I like those quirky kit-van things. Not sure it'd make a lot of sense being in California since they're exclusively a Japanese thing... then again, stranger decisions have been made as to dlc cars in this game.

 

I'd rather have the original vans they're based on (70's / 80's Chevy Van, 60's Dodge A100, 70's Dodge B-series, '67-72 Chevy Blazer / Suburban)

 

But even so, I agree. I'd go for 'em too.

 

As for suggestions?

Chevy Chevette ('76-87)

Ford Pinto (already suggested, but great idea)

Toyota Tercel (1st gen)
