Most of us think that the soundtrack of the gta game is really important. As a manifestation of that there are numerous polls on favorite music of gta in gtaf. Radiostations are the biggest form of gta sountrack, so if you want to make a soundtrack for your concept, it's important to choose not only a great amount of tracks, but the stations have to be varied enough, so that they don't sound too much alike.

Here's a collection of music genres, that I would like you to take a look at, and check the ones that you have listened to. If you want to state your favourite music genres or the ones you think are most suitable, please leave a comment.

Also, comment if there's something you'd like to change in the poll.

Too much rock subgenres and not enough electronica genres... where's Drum and Bass, Techno, Trap, Dance-punk, IDM etc.?

Well really, the suitable music in the games really depend on the setting, time, year, etc. For me, I would think rap music would go well with 5 and SA. Pop for VC.

I want more metal in future GTAs. Of course, it would have to fit with the mood of the game. For example, a genre like death metal would have been absurdly out of place in GTA V.

Just about every genre has a place in the game. I don't like country but I wont deny that I enjoy listening to K-Rose when driving in the countryside or even around the desert near Bone Country during dusk.

But obviously, it's all about the setting. For instance, golden age rap fits 100% with San Andreas (my favorite soundtrack too) whereas general 80s pop music and new wave fits Vice City.

My favorite genres of music are rock and metal, and my favorite radio stations in GTA were V-Rock(both VC and VCS version),KDST and Liberty Rock Radio(especially the EFLC version),and I also liked a few songs from Radio X and Los Santos Rock Radio.

I also like some 80s pop and new wave music on Flash FM,Wave 103,Emotion 98.3(both VC and VCS versions of all of those 3)and Vice City FM and I sometimes listen to some 90s rap on SA version of Radio Los Santos and West Coast Classics if it fits the area on the map where I´m playing.

The glorious thing about GTA is that it doesn't adhere to this real-world radio crap. In good games like VC and IV, most all genres were faithfully attended to.

The only games I complain about the radio in are not at fault for putting in "unsuitable" genres, they just don't have enough variety. V has three rap stations and NO metal? What the f*ck? Why did you put that AWFUL Channel X in as your "hard rock" station? If anything, putting that in, west coast punk (formally known as "f*cking garbage") was an attempt to capture a "suitable" vibe for the game. Forget that, just give us variety and make sure that's variety of what we want.

Would 2000's New York have a public access Regge or Death Metal station? Of course not, but who cares?

Classical all the way. I loved it in Sleeping Dogs. What's better than leaning out of the window and tearing cars apart all while Hallelujah Chorus is blaring in the background?

There needs to be an acceptable balance of the music in GTA games. You see this a lot. However, in GTA V, like Drunken Cowboy stated, three rap stations and no damn metal. I'm a fan of most rock myself and I'm somewhat glad they had three rock stations, but, like I said, balance. Three rock stations and three rap stations doesn't say much about balance when compared to other stations in the game.

Unless it's the main genre of music in the game, there shouldn't be more than three stations of any particular genre. To prevent having too many stations on the same general genre, I suggest they combine multiple subgenres for one station. If fans like one genre but not the other, then too bad, I guess. Unless fans want a Super Radio Building in the countryside, I think it's the best way to organize the stations, and a good way for players to listen to a variety of genres, never mind how limited the combination of subgenres may be. Hell, they did it with several stations in V. As long as the legacy of great hipster rock lives on, I'm good. The more people listening to dance rock, the better.

Meanwhile, I know too many rock subgenres:

Math rock

Art rock

Hard rock

Soft rock

Industrial rock

Pop rock

Garage rock

Noise rock

Electronic rock

Dance rock

Glam rock

Rap rock

Rockabilly

Ska punk

Southern rock

Surf

Yeah never mind the fact that the biggest metal bands in the world came from or near Los Angeles.

Okay, fine. I was wrong. I really don't pay attention to what state bands are from.

I'd still like to see more metal in GTA, but it would need to fit. If GTA VI took place in say, Colorado, it would be odd yet awesome to turn on the radio and suddenly hear something like Gorgoroth or Korkiplanni.

Overall, I just think metal fits better in a game like IV.

Well NG V really gave us some of the best hits with LSRR so i can`t complain about that but i really think this game lacks of some genres like,

-hard rock/glam (soft) metal (Def Leppard, Alice Cooper, Aerosmith, Kiss etc)

-heavy metal/black/death (Sepultura, Obituary)

-90s Eurodance/Trance (2 Unlimited i.e.)

-80s Italo Disco

If they would give us radio stations that would play these genres in the next GTA that would be perfect and everybody would find something they would like.

While I humbly disagree with your opinion on West Coast Punk, I will say that Channel X sucked because it's playlist was nothing but the well-known songs of the genre. Not that My War or Amoeba are bad songs but I think Rockstar should have searched for newer, and possibly lesser-known West Coast Hardcore tracks for Channel X, which I think would have felt fresher than making a station that was basically a "Best of 80's West Coast Punk" compilation.

Also, while not a Metal person I do think that V should have had a Metal station of some kind. It truly felt like Rockstar f*cked up when it came to V's soundtrack.

For those of you who think there's too many rock genres: I chose a minority of the existing rock genres, and rock is the most popular form of music.

I agree about the metal music thing: there had been metal in VC, SA and IV, so why wasn't there any in V?

I like variety as much as the next person: so here's my suggestion: have a hardcore(meaning extremely heavy) rock station, a medium hardness rock station, and a mainstream rock station, each having a lot of tracks of differing genres. All stations would include classics.

Then have the same type of arrangement with electronic/dance, rap, reggae, classical and jazz. Then you could add something exotic, like indian music or other world music.

Then the time would only influence which is considered contemporary and which classic.

Homemade Dynamite

rock is the most popular form of music.

That was true in the last century, but now it's largely been supplanted by R&B, electronic, and hip-hop.
