JLarwood
How long roughly will it take for simple trainer, basic mods etc to be made? (silly question I know but just curious as to what people's estimates are)
Crystal3lf
Depends how you define "mods". Technically you could modify the textures probably within minutes of release. Bigger mods will take longer, not that hard to predict really... Trainer programs I wouldn't really call a mod. More of an extension. Trainers are literally one of the easiest things to make. Uncle Sikee Atric
Decent Single Player mods will probably arrive a few weeks after launch realistically. The multiplayer content should be coming later as we are waiting on multiplayer dedicated server modding teams getting to work. It could be nearer Christmas before they begin to surface. Braindawg
A week or two after the release we should already have a decent amount of clothing mods, and a bit after than cars and scrips will come out. RedIndianRobin
Trainer will come out within one day. Simple mods will come out within 5 days. Scripts will take more than a week to come out. JLarwood

DS 17
I remember the time with IV ... it took like 1 year until some bigger mods came out. It always depends how much work they have to do to enable modding and also if there are new external programs needed which then have to be coded etc.
TJGM
Depends how you define "mods". Technically you could modify the textures probably within minutes of release. Bigger mods will take longer, not that hard to predict really... Trainer programs I wouldn't really call a mod. More of an extension. Trainers are literally one of the easiest things to make. Give that really content packed mods could potentially take weeks to create, expect really good mods to arrive around 2-4 weeks ahead of release. Re-texture mods take a lot less time to make, as it's literally just changing around some textures. Expect car mods, ped re-textures, and protagonist re-textures a few days after release. Well before you start editing textures you need some way to open the texture archives. I think a lot of the V texture archive stuff on PS3/360 has already been documented but we have no idea how different they'll be compared to the PC archives, we'll have to wait and see I suppose. The first mods to release will most likely be edits to configuration files in the game, they're normally documented already by R* and most of the time they're literally just number edits. We'll see some terrible mods (tsunami mod) get huge downloads and praise yet all the author done was really edit a simple data file to increase water height. Bolcksta
I would say a week after release you should expect about 20+ mods in nexusmods or Steam-workshop (If they implement it).
PhillBellic
I'd imagine sooner than what the case was for IV, given that the community has a couple of years of research under their belts. JLarwood
WATER DRAGON
I wonder how long it'll take for a Liberty City map mod. JLarwood
wapster
I give it 12 hours after release before a trainer is working and on the modding sites. Actual vehicle and script mods will probably take a little more time, but seeing as V is in the same engine as IV, they won't take as long as IV's modding scene took to get going. GamerFromHolland
Speaking of trainers and such i started wondering... would steam vac ban you/mark you as a cheater on your profile page if you use trainers on singleplayer? Paully
Trainers are literally one of the easiest things to make. Only prob with using trainers after gta v is released is R* will update and trainer will be useless. Just like gta iv
r34ld34l
Speaking of trainers and such i started wondering... would steam vac ban you/mark you as a cheater on your profile page if you use trainers on singleplayer? Here http://forum.cheatengine.org P.S. CheatEngine is only for SP, MP is not supported and editing code in RAM will get you banned if you try it online. Most likely under "Tables", or "Single player cheat request" if you wanna have "earlier" access Trainers are literally one of the easiest things to make. Only prob with using trainers after gta v is released is R* will update and trainer will be useless. Just like gta iv If table will use AOB, then no, updating SP won't matter. And updating table is pretty easy, easier that trainer. Edited February 13, 2015 by r34ld34l Inspirer and GamerFromHolland
nkjellman
Wouldn't people figure out how to do real time mods with cheat engine like they can on last gen consoles? I believe some of the RTM's they do are modding money, and editing their garages in GTA Online. As far as time goes for modding. It depends on the file structure. If all the meta files are in RPF's, it could take longer. But if it is like IV, where many files that would be found in RPF's on consoles, are in folders on PC, it could be faster for modding meta files. -Modding meta's will be instant if they are outside RPF's. It could be possible to use the meta's from the mods released for last gen if the formats aren't changed too much. This includes mods like the Tsunami mod, no water mod, handling mods, weapon performance mods, will be fast. -It will probably take a week or two for an asi loader to come out. -After that it will take a week or two for any scripts for that asi loader to come out. -It will take a week or two for Open IV support to come. -Editing models, collisions, scripts (not plug in scripts), etc may take a little longer. Could be a month. It depends. The Open IV team is pretty fast about that. The current tools that we have for the last gen versions will definitely help in speeding up the process. I sure hope a last gen mod comes out, and it allows more people to play the game. It will be a while before that happens. I have a friend who has a low end laptop which is capable of running games that were released along side with the Xbox 360 and PS3. It isn't really made for gaming, and I hope a last gen mod will make the game playable for him. But I will still be playing the game maxed out with out the last gen mod. lol Edited February 14, 2015 by nkjellman
