Challenges questions (PS3)

I've just recently (re)discovered the crew challenges, but some things just aren't clear to me.

 

Yesterday I tried to play one just to see how it works.

In the challenge list there were a dozen or so, which all had 5k next to it.

But some of them were playlists with a total of 40+ min set as target time, and some where single races with a couple of min target time.

 

I just picked one to see what would happen. It was some sh*tty made race with badly placed CP's, (my 3yo was annoying me too, to add to the list of stupid excuses) so I failed the challenge.

Since I did it solo, obviously I came in 1st, and in the winner-screen it said +5000, regardless of me failing the challenge.

 

Does this mean I tied? (so you won't really lose money when failing?)

 

Also if I try one of the playlist challenges with the 40min target time. Is the 5000 for the entire list, or for each race/event separate? (otherwise there'd be better ways to earn 5k imho)

 

Next question is if I should create a challenge myself while active on crew A, would I be able to play it myself when I go active in crew B?

 

And what's with the 250k challenges I've read about? Are they patched somehow? Or do I have to be lucky to come across them?

This is from my past experiences with challenges but sometimes it's buggy to the point where even if you lose.. it'll say you won money, but once you check your cash you'll notice you actually lost money, not sure if I'm just unlucky or it's just random.

 

As for the 40 minute target time question, I've done one and I kept gaining money(or losing) after EACH challenge in the set..

 

Haven't tried that Crew A and Crew B method but I'd assume it's possible since Challenges are open for anyone to try

 

And the $250K challenges is something that comes up every now and then where if you check the Challenges screen, you'll notice a few of them having just one race (usually Criminal Records, 5 laps with a time of 3 minutes or less which is beyond possible to complete) and many people have taken advantage of them but it's an obvious bad mistake/exploit. R* usually gets rid of them within 1-2 hours after it's discovered but they do show up again a couple of months later if lucky. You'll have to be very quick and take advantage of them a.s.a.p. So to answer your question, as of right now they are patched but I wouldn't be surprised if they show up again before April.
