Let's speculate on GTA VI (first info, release year guesses)

I usually like to do this, every time there's a new GTA. There is always the possibility that they will release expansion packs first (maybe GTA V 1978, the events leading up to what happened in the flashback in the game). I think that could happen, but it would take a lot of work on the programmer's part to completely overhaul all of Los Santos. My hunch is they are going to skip expansion packs this time, but add more to online (which I don't care about) and focus on GTA VI. Or maybe it's time for a new portable GTA. The last one was Chinatown Wars and that was six years ago. Maybe they'll make a 3d GTA for the new 3ds.

I guess that they will start making vague hints to admins of GTA Forums to torture us with a la GTA V. In retrospect the pic the admin (I think it was Jordan) put in a topic of a mashup of RDR's countryside with Midnight Club LA (I think that's what it was. My memory is a bit fuzzy, could've been GTA IV) was dead on. That will start later this year. In 2016 the logo will be shown with a brief teaser. In 2017 there will be another trailer, this time with "Coming October 2019". In 2018 a demo of the game will be shown to journalists and they will release info and screenshots throughout most of 2018 and into 2019. In mid 2019 the site goes live, with content to be unlocked little by little. Also, a two new trailers will be released both narrowing the release date down to October 29th, 2019. The game won't be delayed this time because it's running on the same hardware as the already released GTA V for next gen.

My guess is Vice City. They've already done Liberty City and San Andreas so it's pretty much a given. Modern day though, with the same three person swap available in V. Completely different characters, with slight references or cameos of characters from IV and V. Once there was the III trilogy, this will become the IV V VI trilogy. I hope with GTA VII (yeah that's 7) they try something very different. I would be very surprised if it isn't Vice City, and if it is be ready for some subtitles because nowadays Spanish is the most spoken language.

I don't think it will be vice city no point Gta IV Episodes where the release before V like VC was to SA.

Pretty sure where going somewhere else here's hoping for a darker story in multple cities or something idk.

With release date theorys

i think its coming soon not 5 years again

pretty sure R North has been working on something big since 2013 not online hiests

could explan why the hiests are taking so long most likley there working on RDR2 with San Diego.

Once RDR2 is out engine is ready for full production GTA VI.

Just in general we know Multiple cities is coming that concept was started in V with 3 playable characters in different regions.

How there rendering works its very possible but obviously alot of work if we don't atleast have some innovation in the next GTA its just going to be the same sh*t again.

What i mean by that is innovative gameplay

design you could do with mutple cities like start a mission in one and have to go to another example you get a target to assassinate not a unlikely mission in Gta

Where you have to go to track this person down by choosing options of places to go finding trails and information with different outcomes and making partnerships

kicking down doors you get the idea.

All the kinds of diffrint mission concepts you could design having to get wepons into the city ur a wepons dealer with RPG eliments you get the idea i dont see how they can just do 1 city drive here mission drive here mission Thats the same old ass design and it needs to change not just hide it with better production value.

My personal guess is that they will do the "rest" of San Andreas in GTA VI. That doesn't mean Las Venturas and San Fierro respectively, but V's SA was based on Southern California. I can imagine them coming up with a rendition of Northern California.

Honestly though, why limit the cities to Liberty City, Vice City (which R* themelves said would not work as well as in an 80s setting) and whatever interpretation of San Andreas they see fit? I don't want Liberty City for the 20th time.

I guess the next GTA will set in a completely new location or Vice City. I think the first info will be about location and partly about gameplay's mechanics.

Carcer city 88

Since IV R* has been focusing on the American dream we were chasing it as a new immigrant in IV living it in V (eating chips and ironing shirts xD) now lets go where it comes to die Carcer city

I'd love to have Vice City for VI, then they can do Las Venturas/San Fierro and maybe later Carcer City, I don't mind having a GTA in another country though.

Just keep your eyes and ears open. The worst thing you can do it scour the internet weekly looking for information. It'll come and it'll come very slowly. If I had to guess, I'd say 2018 at the earliest. I'm not even gonna bother with it though...especially after the letdown that was GTA V.

I would have Prefered Vice City before Los Santos. At least a more fleshed out State of San Andreas with all cities included. Rather than one city and a small geographic countryside that can't be considered a full state.

I share your thoughts, mate.

Y'know guys, the more I look at Gifbrah's captivating, and intriguing map, the more I feel that Rockstar made a mistake having GTA V set in Los Santos, and Southern San Andreas. Personally, I feel that they should have set V in Vice City, and its surrounds. Additionally, It would have made more sense given that I feel that a map around V's current size would have given VC more justice in it's scale.

Furthermore, imagine if in GTA VI we had opened our game cases and seen a map of the scale that Gifbrah has dazzled us with, complete with the cities of 3D era San Andreas of LS, SF, LV, and the connecting countryside. Finally, with Rockstars greater knowledge of the PS4, and Xbox One in particular, and more advanced PC's, at the end of their cycle they created had this map.

What do you think?

I would prefer something other than the LC-SA-VC trilogy, but at this point it seems inevitable. I remember before GTA IV hoping it was London but betting it would be Liberty City. With V I hoped it was anything out of the ordinary then we got San Andreas again (which is the biggest game yet, scale-wise) so this is why I am expecting Vice City. If it's not I will be pleasantly surprised. What is this map? *looks it up*

1st off it blows my mind that V has been out for almost a year and a half. All of the waiting and speculating 3-4 years ago and now (most of us) played it for hundreds of hours.

Alright, VI. Here's a post I made a few months ago on locations:

http://gtaforums.com/topic/731315-gta-location-wishlist/?p=1066344085

As for an announcement and RD:

announce in Oct./Nov. 2017 Release Fall 2018.

and/or

announce in Oct./Nov. 2018 Release Fall 2019

I really don't want to wait that long for the next one. I understand they take time to create but I hope they can figure out ways to speed up development this time around.

I'm going to speculate and say the next GTA will be released September/Autumn 2019. It may be delayed until 2020. Officially announced in early 2019

The city will be a brand new city, one we haven't seen in the 3D or HD worlds.

And a wild and hopeful guess: GTA will return to a setting that's in the past (70's/80's/90's)

Optimistic estimation : I think it'll be announced in 2017, for a 2018 release.

Realistic estimation : An announcement in 2017/2018, then a 2019 release. There's no way R* won't delay it.

Setting : I don't think R* will take any risk, the setting will be the recreation of a 3D era city …Or maybe two cities. I think it could be San Fierro and Las Venturas. Vice City as the next setting is very unlikely to me.

Player reaction : R* will build the hype, and the game will be extremely anticipated. Will it beat GTA V sales ? It's a possibility. However, I think it'll bring a lot of disappointment too.

It's also very unlikely that GTA VI will become the best GTA, because I'm sure it'll be less SP oriented than V, which was already very Online oriented.

I hope that we re-visit a modern day depiction of Vice City. Maybe if they can pull it off another 80s setting there in the past that wouldn't cross universes with GTA Vice City from 2002.

As for the announcement, we saw GTA IV in 2008-9. We waited 5 years till we got the next GTA in our hands. It was 3 - 4 years before we heard the news in November 2012.

My bet is that GTA 6 will be announced 2016 or 2017 and released 2019 at latest. Scary huh? Nearly 2020 by the time we get our next GTA :(

My guess:

2017 reveal trailer; 2018 is the "hype year" when Rockstar starts releasing information in bits here and there.

Release Date: Spring 2019; Rockstar loves releasing their games in the March - June period (Given that GTA IV was released in April 2008, RDR was released in May 2010, and GTA V was supposed to be released in Spring 2013)

Location: Northern San Andreas, including both Las Venturas and San Fierro. Of course, this time they will include (hopefully) less mountains in the game, and more forests, deserts, and farmland.

Will be multiple protagonists again (probably 3), due to its positive reaction from its community. Yes, there are some members in these forums that dislike this format, but by and large most players found the 3 protagonist story unique and refreshing.

GTA VI will be released in 2018. The story will play in the United States. It won't be set in Miami or Chicago

I think it will be set in either New York, Los Angeles again or Los Angeles + San Francisco + Las Vegas.

It will be set somewhere between 2016-2018.

It will have multiple protagonists (probably 3) one being a woman.
