Suicide: A First-Person Experience.

I was bored and made this earlier this morning. It's kind of funny how adding some sad music and reducing the saturation can make virtually jumping out a helicopter depressing. Watch in HD/Theater Mode.

Nice. I wish that was the music playing when you flied choppers and planes. I wouldn't turn it off then.

But in seriousness, I particularly liked how the end abruptly set in right then and there. Death is so blunt.

Only thing I think would make it better is if a few of those flashes were replaced with first person screenshots in different places. As if life flashing before eyes.

 

Screenshots of drinking, driving, raining, the church, the cemetery.

 

 

Maybe also a more realistic way of suicide. Maybe driving, they drive of a cliff into the ocean, fading to black before hitting water. Maybe walking in the city, they walk into a road then fading to black with a car crash sound.

Maybe also a more realistic way of suicide. Maybe driving, they drive of a cliff into the ocean, fading to black before hitting water. Maybe walking in the city, they walk into a road then fading to black with a car crash sound.

Or maybe they could do it being shot by a cop for taking a selfie while the cop was in the background, then you wouldn't get a chance for life to flash before your eyes.

I like the vid but I personally would've added moments that show why he was upset and suicidal (e.g. getting beat by another player or seeing a sad death, drinking too much in his apartment, etc.) I enjoyed the video, but I feel if those details were added, a story could've developed and made it 10x better.

I watched it on my phone and when the screen cut to black after the thud I could see the reflection of myself smiling. I think GTA has desensitised me to virtual death.

 

It's a good video though, I quite liked the simplicity of the opening before the jump, I found myself piecing together my own story. I was picturing a Merrweather pilot distraught at the loss of so many of his friends and colleagues. Literally hundreds of thousands of them.

Merryweather pilot? He wanted to be a barber at Herr Krutz so maybe he hated his job and jumped out of heli.

I thought about something similar, but didn't really know how I would implement it. I agree it would have made the video better. I'm glad you enjoyed the video.

I completely agree. The simplicity of it implies bleakness and by omitting a backstory the viewer is left to think about it and make it their own.

 

Before the protagonist hits the ground, anyway.
