Is there a way to bypass the ammo pickup limit?

Is there any way to keep ammo from gang attacks for guns that have already have 'enough'?

 

If you didn't already know, R* has pointlessly made it so that you can't pick up enough ammo so that you don't have to buy any. Basically you can buy ammo until you hit the 9999 mark and then that's it maxed for that weapon class but when your picking up ammo you can't go past 2000 for most guns, pointless isn't it.

 

What I'm asking is. Is there a way you pick up the (let's say) LMG ammo from the crates at the end of a gang attack without having to drop any ammo? Since there is a limit to how much ammo you can drop, which is another stupid feature in it's own rights.

 

BTW I know it should be "pick up" in the title, don't think I'm one of those people who hasn't quite grasped grammar yet .

Have a stupidly low amount of ammo on you

i haven't tested anything but throwables and heavy(minigun,etc) but one way i save money is i made a DM with stickys, grenades,minigun,rpg,grenade launcher amo all over the map. now what you do is pick up whatever it is you need amo for ill use sticky bombs as an example. You will pickup about 8 or 10( you pick up 4 on molotovs and teargas) now open up your weapon wheel and drop it by holding triangle/Y. Now asuming you placed more than 1 spawn points in you job pick up more sticky bombs, not the ones you just dropped but go over to another sticky spawn and pick it up. Now go back to the ones you just dropped and voila! you now have 20 free stickys! now repeat until you're stocked up

 

Note: you'll need a friend if you want to pick up heavy amo because you cant place those in gta style races and DM,LTS, and Captures requires at least 2 people for you to start the job but if throwables is all you need then just make a gta style race with all that you need

 

Edit: yes all the throwable amo will stick when you swap sessions. unfortunately you cant max out heavy amo but i think you can pick up more than 2000 amo for mini gun,10 grenade launcher amo, and i think 8 rpg amo but im not sure

huh definitely gonna try this. Explosives are pretty expensive. Very rarely use them.

I'll definitely try this next time I'm on then, I'll attempt it at the gang attacks sicne I haven't tried holding in the Y button so maybe it'll work better if I do.

 

I just think it's really stupid that you can't max out your ammo normally just by picking it up, even from gang attacks.
