Hmm, other players should stop this "Holy sh*t, you're a girl? This is impossible." BS. As a woman who plays GTA, I have to say this:

STOP treating women like majestic creatures in game world, we are not. We are not damsel in distress that needs protecting etcetera. Guys complain how other women are "attention-whores" this is only because you're feeding them what they want, yes, I'm looking at you White-Knights.

We are the same AS YOU, a GAMER. We play the game because we like it and we enjoy it (and we even get to kick your ass sometimes ). I've met a number of incredible men in GTAO who treats me just as fairly as their male friends. Now THAT is what I call respect, justice and plainly having a good time in a game. Not the pathetic Air-Thrusting, thirsty messages or unreasonable hate. *sigh*

For real, your post is on point. The lobbies get unintentionally hilarious if a lady gamer talks. Either too much negative attention or too much overly protective attention. Just play the silly game and shoot each other. Loving the ps4 party chat, just to avoid the inane lobby behaviors.

Although character gender can influence the reactions a Player gets, this is what we've seen the Player attitude to other characters to be:

 

-majority of guys harass girls

-majority of guys aren't much kinder to other guys

-majority of girls feel no special way towards guys

 

But HERE is the real question:

They get spawnkilled: "it must be because I'm a girl!". Someone destroyed their cars: "it must be because I'm a girl!". Friend request: "it must be because I'm a girl!". Apartment invites: "it must be because I'm a girl!". Game freezes: "it must be because I'm a girl!", etc.

Creepy and sexist messages are one thing, but it seems a big group of female players think every friendly or agressive behaviour is because of being a girl.

 

If we're gonna complain about that pathetic group of male players, we should also complain about this pathetic group of female players too. It seems one exists because the other one exists.

I've seen a lot of threads with girls posting like that, and it's annoying. Like I said in one of those threads, I'd hate it if some of the girls I have in my friends list think I'm being friendly with them because they're girls.

Also, there is a reason that "yeah I'm a girl gamer, don't hit on me silly boys!" stereotype exists, right?

 

I can't tell which one of these two groups is more pathetic/annoying, but both should stop. And yeah, f*ck white knights too.

Good question. We could talk all day about this, but I'll share some of my stories, this is going to be kind of long since we're talking about WOMEN for gods sake. So bear with me.

 

I was in an all-girls crew before for a few months. An all girs crew? Yup, they exist. Heavy security though, voice verifications and everything was required for players to join. What I noticed was if you got a whole bunch of ladies *not just regular-I braid your hair, you do mine kind of women,, they were very skilled in the game* They become, aggressive feminist . Of course you don't see this at the start, but in the long run.

 

Since we had around 8 other guy friends who always plays mission, races, D/Ms etc with us, a misunderstanding broke out between my crew and the guys crew. Apparently 1 guy was just playfully killing 1 of our girl members and our leader lost her sh*t, so did the commissioners. The girls clearly over-reacted and kept saying that "You know you're not allowed to kill the girl players, why the fck would you do that, you fcken idiot!" Etcetc its was ridiculous. They were calling him names and crap, which was VERY unnecessary as he was saying sorry profusely but they just kept going. That was the time that I thought maybe an all girl crew was a bad idea, I did not sign up for this sh*t, yknow. I kept telling the leader and Comms that they were overreacting, I even ended up saying to our guy friend to just go in another session cause all he was doing was heating up the flame from saying sorry. Oh man, it was pathetic. On top of that every time a guy *accidentally* joins the crew, they say things like "Are you stupid, this is an all girls crew, you can fck off now." etc. It was just plain rude *sigh*

 

Anyways, we're done with feminism. There is also HATE between lady gamers, This is not often but when I see attention starved women who is not really playing the game and only flirts with my guy friends, It grinds my gears. I met a woman who was like this, she would make her voice purposely high-pitched in attempt to be cute and she would flirt with the guys non-stop. On top of that, her character was wearing only bikini, or either stockings. *sigh* it was annoying.

 

Lastly, the awe and gained friendship. When I meet another lady gamer in a mission or free-mode. We become friends instantly. Being belittled and rejected by silly boys most of the time can take toll, so when we see another female players..that gives us somewhat of a relief that there's still female gamers like us out there. Most of the time, I find women more easily to approach and agree with compare to men. Example, a shoot out in Free-mode and I hear that my opponent was a woman on the other end, I usually just laugh it off as we kill each other. I often hear giggling of "I got her" on the other end if they killed me or often if I killed them, I often hear "Ohno, she got me good" etc. Rather than a typical "YEAH, GET THAT, YOU BTCH" from guys lol.

 

Holy sh*t I just realised that I wrote so much, I'm sorry ~ D: but I hope you got an insight what it's like being a female gamer or being with a bunch of them lol

I did not say EVERY ARGUEMENT. I said in these situations, pertaining to the particular topic at hand.

 

Twisting what I said into a more sweeping statement so it doesn't apply anymore is what an ignorant would do. Either that or you suffer from cognitive dissonance. Either way, you can't denounce the fact that no two people have exactly the same thought process and therefore leaves infinite possibilities for their motivation to act in any way. Sorry about the long as post! And yup, I ended up leaving that crew cause it was too much. And oh, I didn't mean guys getting jealous, I have not actually encountered that but it sounds smothering. White-Knights have their purpose to fill in the gaming world, which is feed the "gamer girls" *eyeroll* lol I don't mind them as long as they don't get in my way. They can try and help other women who honestly need their aid but please don't try to act hero and the "nice guy" when it's completely unnecessary. If you are a friend and have my back when I need it, that's fine. But if you're sticking like a leech, pampering every time my character trips, then that's another story.

OT: I generally find that people are nicer to my female character than my male but that's just my experience.
