Steam vs Rockstar social club

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

So I just had a question. If I buy the GTA V PC version that has to be activated with rockstar social club, can I play with friends who are using the steam version ? Or can I only play with other players using rockstar social club?

Thanks a lot!

Steam

So only steam players can play with steam players?

No.

Everyone plays with Social Club players, because the game works through Rockstar's servers. All the Steam version grants you is optional integration with (again, optional) Steam-specific features. Such as achievements.

When you look at it every version will be RSC. Steam will only provide the game in your Steam library and the Steam overlay. When you launch GTA5 from Steam it will just launch the RSC version. So yes you will be able to play with RSC and Steam players.

it will be same like in MP3 mp

so Yes

There is no Social Club OR Steam. It's either Social Club, or Social Club AND Steam. Which is just one in a long list of reasons why pre-ordering buying GTA V on Steam on PC is a bad idea.

Please explain why you think Social Club AND Steam is a bad idea compared to Social Club AND PSN or Social Club AND XBox Live. Those peasant box networks go down far more often than Steam OR Social Club, and you have to pay for the privilege. Also, please tell us about this 'long list' you mentioned.

Their problem, not mine. I'll let console owners argue why it's a bad or good idea to buy GTA V on the consoles, I'm a PC gamer. And the last RGSC game Rockstar released on Steam becomes unplayable if you ever re-format your hard-drive.

Not too sure why you're here so often, then.

Just don't buy it and be done with it.

Well that's bullsh*t because I've done 3 complete re-installs of Windows and I can still play GTA IV, Max Payne 3 and LA Noire. Do you just go round spouting bullsh*t everywhere?

Steam will just install RGSC.

So steam version is EXACTLY the same of any other GTA V version.

it is RGSC will update GTA V, is not Steam will update GTAV.

Is it the way it was working? Steam MP3 only fired up threw Steam and then updated (if required) threw RGSC?

Since I preorder the retail version of V, I'm wondering how it's gonna work. And MP3 could be a good indication.

if you need help deciding consider this

apparently once you download from R* servers they expect you to back it up and redownload it (I've heard people see this in some T&Cs), as well as download speeds being slow from them

with Steam you won't get an extra game of your choice but at least you can redownload it any time you need to :D
