Dutch Psycho
Because like i said a new map, setting, characters and a new story plus a few minor new gameplay elements is a proper new game and not a DLC. How you call the dlc of New Vegas then?

How you call the dlc of New Vegas then? FC Blood Dragon had a new map, new setting and new story too. Still it is called a standalone expansion/DLC. Eurotrash
Anyway, something as big as this means one of two things: A new Fallout game or a new IP. And where is that written?
TheMcSame
Anyway, something as big as this means one of two things: A new Fallout game or a new IP. And where is that written? I never said it was true, it could be some big DLC for TES Online or something for all we know, it's just speculation. I'm just saying that something as big as this is happening for a reason. What have we been expecting for a while? Fallout 4. What would generate a sh*t load of hype that would make this a good move? Fallout 4 or a new IP. We got a TES game last year so that rules that out. The only other active series Bathesda is making is Fallout so Fallout 4 (or some sort of new fallout game) a likely candidate. A new IP? That's just to cover my ass. I suppose it could be another game like Doom but we've been due a new Fallout game for a while which I why I mentioned Fallout 4 rather than Doom, I suppose there's nothing is stopping them from announcing both games as well bringing up the console release of TES Online. iNero
Obviously they will show Doom. They already showed it to a closed audience last year at Quakecon. There is no way they wont show it at E3. But they wont hold a press just for a single game. Just like Ubisoft or EA they will show multiple games. But that they hold their first press conference can only mean that they will announce a new game. Its either FO4, TES 6 or a new IP. They wont hold that press to only show doom and announce Dishonored 2. People would laugh about Bethesda if there is nothing big comming.
resevil2008
I will bait. Fallout 3 was the spin-off. I really hope Fallout 4 is developed and written by Obsidian, not Bethesda.
Mista J
I just hope we get decent graphics this time. Fallout 3 looks like sh*t even for an early last gen game. Vegas looks sh*t too for a 2010 game.

Vegas looks sh*t too for a 2010 game. Dont expect too much. They probably will use a modified Skyrim engine (gamebryo). Though I would be more worried about the combat being just as sluggish as in FO3 and NV. They really need to go on with a new engine. And no, this doesnt affect the modding. If the devs create mod tools/kits this should be no problem.

Sure the textures are pathetically low res, the lighting and shadows are illogical and the animations are twitchy and poorly synchronized as hell (and hardly optimized on top of it all) but art wise it's awesome! Ish! If it uses Creation Gamebyro 1.1 but is actually well optimized I'll be more than happy. Edited February 12, 2015 by Eurotrash

Skeever
Bethesda's finally going to E3, good. Hopefully it'll be something big, like them announcing The Elder Scrolls VI or Fallout 4, and not a completely new series. Don't get me wrong, Dishonored 2 or the like would be very cool, but it's about time that we see a new addition to either TES or Fallout from Bethesda Game Studios, and not another developer. hvcciookay
Thinking about it a little too hard, I wouldn't doubt a re-release of skyrim on current gen either. Edited February 12, 2015 by hvcciookay
iNero
Thinking about it a little too hard, I wouldn't doubt a re-release of skyrim on current gen either. Which still would make no sense. Current gen is about to get TESO. There is no way they will re-release Skyrim and probably no announcement of TES6. Even if it would be a possibility, it makes no sense to hold a conference to announce a re-release of a 4 year old game.
Th3MaN1
Maybe we shouldn't wet our pants. Anything can happen, and if it won't be what the people want, they will be pissed. Overhyping stuff doesn't get you anywhere. Speculation and expectation are two diferent things. But with that said... Waiting for Fallout 4 almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter. Rebel
I'm stoked about this. I'm actually just hoping for them to say something about a Fallout 4, I don't care for anything else. Even if its just like ''yeah were doing it, we will tell more when we are ready'' I'd be happy for that.

iNero
I think an E3 announcement is too obvious. My guess would be that they announced this conference to make people think that there will be the FO4 announcement. But afaik Bethesda (like most publishers) wants to surprise people, especially with such a big game. So an announcement + gameplay trailer before E3 would be a megaton. Noone would expect it at PAX. At E3 they would showcase the game with a 10 min demo and the release in November this year. In an interview of last year Todd Howard said that they held back an announcement because they want the game to be totally ready and reveal it at full force. It was also said that this next project will have the shortest time between its announcement and release. The shortest so far is Skyrim with 11 months. iNero
Well, a game like FO doesnt need 1 year of creating hype. Announce thebganenout of nowhere with flashing gameplay and people will be hyped af. If you then announce the elease to be set within the next few months... But I think there are only a few franchises that could do that. Fallout, TES, Half-Life and GTA.

Majestic81
Read a rumor a while ago that they will announce TESVI at E3. however im sure that was just speculation as the whole article seemed fake as hell. I couldnt care less about FO4. so hoping its TES, the gap between releasing TES games have always been 4 years. so its possible. im not too confident though, i mean logically they should release a Fallout game before releasing another TES. Even if its Fallout, then im happy too. that means its out of the way and TES is next. Edited February 16, 2015 by Majestic81
nath22
DOOM is obvious, I think we'll see another Dishonored too. If we get anything about Fallout it will be similar to what Bioware did with Mass Effect last year.

Coin
The most obvious reason is TESO which still has to be released on console. There is no way for it to be TES6. TESO is inconsequential to the main series as has been stated by Bethesda (who had nothing to do with Online, really) numerous times. Fallout 4 is easily the most likely candidate though. iNero
It doesnt matter if its not related to that main series. Its an TES game and if they want to sell 1 they wont announce the other within the same time frame.
Majestic81
TESO is already kinda old news though, LOTS of mixed reviews. lots of complaining. they announced its going to be FTP on PC too. doubt a TESVI announcement is gonna effect it.
