vvv_E_vvv
My setup:Xbox 360Playing from diskOptical Audio cable (also tried HDMI)Sony STRDH550 5.1My subwoofer is perfectly audible with all other Xbox 360 games and movies. I've tried all setting combinations in my XBox dashboard and ingame settings. Front, rear, and center speakers working great. Nothing will produce even the slightest sound from my subwoofer. Any suggestions?
zuckmeslow
this game is one that gives subwoofers a hard time. i have heard reports of other people experiencing this issue. are you hearing any bass from the other 5 speakers? If no bass is being produced by the other speakers than it is most likely a problem with the sound mixing in the game. If the speakers do produce bass than it could be a system glitch with the way the audio was compressed onto the disc removing the LFE. i know with my speakers this game doesnt have alot of bass but i still can get my couch shaking with certain explosions. vvv_E_vvv
The five speakers are pretty small satellite speakers, so if they're producing bass, you couldn't really hear it anyways.
zuckmeslow
Ive been doing some searching and it seems to be a very common issue with the game. I dont have my subwoofer hooked up to my ps4 but i do have 4 bookshelf speakers and they do produce low end with this game. the issue i think is with the actual sound mixing of the game. When the consoles output the audio from gta v the game does not send the subwoofer channel. Instead it mixes the bass with the surround speakers which is why recievers dont output a ".1" signal, because the game doesnt support it. Im not sure if your reciever has an option to do this but maybe if you have the game output in mono and set your reciever to mix it in 5.1 to output a "virtual" surround. This might put all the bass on the subwoofer depending on your crossover frequency.
vvv_E_vvv
True, but it would be sacrificing the actual surround sound. So either: a) get true surround sound with no subwoofer, or b) get nothing but a mirrored left/right channel with subwoofer. Sad that this is the case after 1.5yrs beyond release.
