The 'Chrome' on wheels is not Chrome in sunlight

As i was playing the other day i noticed something wrong with all the wheels that are Chrome, be they stock or custom they all have this same annoying trait. Observe the pictures and you can see what i mean.

Here is a wheel in direct sunlight, there was a glitch that happened on each spoke when i zoomed in but it reveals that the wheel is not Chrome when in sunlight and the strange glitch spots are still Chrome.

Here is another of the wheel in the shade, this time as you can see it is all fully reflective Chrome.

Finally i managed to get a wheel half in and half out of the sunlight, you can see the top of the wheel is shiny Chrome and the bottom of the wheel is this dull alloy colour, almost as if it is a Pearlescent that cannot be removed, so these wheels are only truly Chrome in the shade.

EDIT: After double checking i have found this to happen on the Stallion as well. This may be a glitch since this trait is actually also shared by Chrome bumpers that are Chrome as standard and cannot be repainted. Here is an example using the Tornado.

The Dukes wheels arent chrome. They're a polished/brushed metal. Some other stock wheels are that way as well.

This is absolutely true, I noticed this in the very beginning, you can tell that this is some sort of glitch because my chrome adder in the sunlight does not have this problem, but the adder's chrome rims in the same sunlight look like they are alloys.

When save editing cars, putting chrome on wheels ended up making the wheels black. Most likely because chrome is a texture and wheels couldn't load textures the same as the body. I would think its an issue with the chrome/metal texture being placed over what's normally a paintable surface.

They are Chrome, here is a pic of a post i made in another thread, this picture was taken in the shade with the new version of the wheels rendered, you can clearly see it is the same reflecting Chrome as other stock rims. This error is also on the wheels in the muscle category that have a Chrome ring around the rim, its just harder to see.

I also noticed that, its also still the same on the new consoles, you can see this on the Chrome Dubsta2. it and the Pure Gold one both have identical primary and wheels colours so its given Chrome painted wheels that just turn black.

Its almost like the wheels are really painted alloy and then the Chrome 'Skin' is Applied over it and it has the same affect as a Pearlescent on a body colour. You can only usually see the Pearlescent colour in the sunlight, the same as the Alloy colour error on Chrome wheels.

From what I see, that's a more distorted and dulled shine than the chrome on for example high end wheels

I know exactly what you mean but this is the same as other Chrome its just i could not get a decent picture to truly show it. If you looked yourself at the right angle you would agree its just it has to be level with the camera, ill try to take a picture with the car up on something to show it better.

the real travesty is the chrome bubble on new gen is not a bubble but a flattened piece of sh*t.

Lol at next gen chrome bubbles.....console limitations :)

Why the obsession with chrome wheels? Sure they look nice, but that's about it. Still get blown off by dicks in freeroam. Then again, I'm easily distracted by the Vapid Radius front grill....so nice just to look at it in the sunlight.

I know the feeling, i was quite disappointed that Rockstar made this unnecessary change, they looked so much better and more realistic as a dish. I think this may have been done to hide the fact that the only things that reflect off of Chrome are buildings and lights, anything that moves or can be moved such as props, Vehicles and NPC's do not reflect in Chrome.

Also this Alloy paint is also visible on this picture you have the front cap has a reflective Chrome edge and the rear one is just completely Alloy coloured.
